    2005 Spike TV VGAs

Considering sites are plastering the GotY winner everywhere, it's not that big to spoil. It's not like it matters much. The Madden drones have spoken--no big surprise there. I bet the RE4 nod was intended for the PS2 version. Katamari got best original score. Most of the rest are silly. Games are winning that aren't even out yet.

    PS3 controller not changing

Okay, forgot about the memory card. You got me there, but that's pretty much the only essential one. Microsoft didn't really add the cost of the hard drive to the cost of the X-Box--they sold it at a loss to establish the X-Box brand. Now they're going to try to cash in a bit more. Sony is merciless on the cost of those "memory sticks" however.

She said accessories, though. Technically, no accessories are really "forced" on you. You only need to buy another controller if you intend to play with friends who don't have the system. Other than that, there are guns and other special sorts of controllers--only "forced" if you want to play the game properly. It's kind of unclear whether it will even play PS1 games, although that's probably not considered too important. "Backward compatible with PS2" is all that's known, but just for the games themselves.

The department store folks--yeah, guess they'll be there anyway. I know I generally value time off more than a few extra bucks for overtime. And who wants to be working when it's really busy?

    Superman Returns Teaser Trailer

The uproar over the "Batmobile?" First shot of the Scarecrow? The "guy who dresses up like a bat..." comment? I guess it being a "teaser" and not a "full trailer" needs to be taken into account, though. But the first footage I saw on BB made me very confident in the project.

It's puzzling to me since I guess I'm not hardcore enough. I haven't even done that for a Zelda. It's ridiculous to build up expectations like that to think it will be worth all that trouble. Plus it's too cold. I'd be risking my health to do it. Maybe in California it isn't as extreme a measure. Why should employees need to get up at the crack of dawn, or work way past midnight, for the sake of dozens of impatient geeks? Yeah, odd coming out of me, but even as a kid I wasn't that obsessed.

Wireless, remember? None. It doesn't support wired ones like XB, thus no use of the PS2/PS1 controllers. However, supposedly up to 7 wireless controllers can be supported by one system. Yeah, odd number, but that's supposedly the correct info for now. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> *slaps forehead* Oh, of course. Thanks man. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, come to think of it I forgot about other options: http://hardware.gamespot.com/Story-ST-x-1985-x-x-x

Well, by hype I mean all the displays in the stores, people cramming in check on preorders and clerks trying to push you into preordering a 360 for the 9th shipment and people talking about camping out at department stores. I haven't heard anything much about KD except for the release of the sequel recently (and it's nomination for the VGAs). The PSP game is getting written off because of the expectedly bad controls.

Me? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, Firerose the one who barely posts here anymore.

Also, X-Box came with 4 controller ports. You had to buy a multitap for PS2, and the old PS1 multitap didn't work.

Anyone Know Where I Can Download Tonight's Raw?

I totally missed SD. Can someone hook me up for a DL for it? Thanks.

Um...what? 20 bucks for a faceplace? 30 bucks for a lousy remote? 50 bucks for a wireless controller and 40 for a WIRED one?! The seperate hard drive option? How about the bundles--which are getting first priority over reserves that were just the systems?

I stand by my belief that it will play UMDs.

You can use your psPod as a controller though, I believe. Yay.

That logo sucks. Jorel is God I guess. Begins trailer 10x > this Not necessarily representive of the final results, though.

South Park Season 9 / Drawn Together

Hayes didn't really take an active part in a past episode that took a few shots at Scientology. Besides, the "church" values making money over being concerned about two goofy cartoonists.

You're probably just missing some optional exits. Gamefaqs has guides on getting them all.

Who is Mark Ecko? Why should I care if he "gets up?" Why does a state of the art handheld like the PSP have like 15 second loading times to bring up a BETTING SCREEN, and then I have to wait another 15 seconds or so of loading for a fight scene to come up (based upon playing a bit of The Con in-store today). I'm sick of the XB360 hype.

Some scores from the latest Famitsu: http://www.gamesarefun.com/news.php?newsid=5795 Not terribly interesting (or accurate), but I love Ratchet Deadlocked's Japanese title.

Ones with DSes, not quite, although I'm trying to convince some folks.

Cleared 50 cc and working on getting some good rankings in Mission Mode. Shine Sliders is also darn fun, too. Power sliding into some schmuck while surrounded by turtle shells--muhahah! At one point I also beat Wario to the finish by launching a banana peel ahead of me--he hits and I just make it to the finish before him. I can only imagine how much fun this will be when I find others to play with.

    Ryu vs. Scorpion

As long as he had the Iron Body/Vodka Fire moves available.

    Ryu vs. Scorpion

In Japan, I think 14 is like fair game depending on where you live. If you think it's that bad though, I could only imagine some examples that Yuna could bring to mind. The link didn't work for me, and I tried again...still nothing. I get a blank white screen. Well, in Ken v. Raiden, all the other Street Fighters were killed before that. It's okay. Sometimes stuff just doesn't make sense or isn't explained and rumors are adopted by fans a lot. Capcom hasn't explained what might have happened to the Alpha/SF2 fighters after SF2. Chun came back because of fan demand. Then sometimes the companies just revise the canon, like Art of Fighting being set later on (originally was supposed to take place in the 70's I think), the constant retconning in MK, etc.

    Sonic Rush review

CMW isn't one to cuss much, so I know he must have *really* hated those missions. And yes, detecting *in order* made no sense. Overall, SA2 was the more polished game, but I didn't care for Gamma missions in SA1 and I didn't like seeing it back. I missed the overworld hub, which I thought was a really cool part of SA1. Knux/Rouge's missions were okay, but Pumpkin Hill's theme is like gouged into my brain. I think the SA games were good but that's it. Mario provided a stellar 3D platformer a generation before it. While the relatively-leisurely pace of a Mario game was fine for a 3D platformer (few timed sections, worlds were large but not *too* long, so you could explore more), the Sonic games are more about speed, and are usually more linear. The Sonic/Shadow sections came out as some mishapen mutant child of Mario 64 and Crash Bandicoot. The Emerald hunting was geared closer to that style--but unlike in the 3D Marios, where you generally knew were the shines were (or exactly how to find them) and just had to complete some darn fun missions, you...followed a radar. Not as fun. You no longer had plenty of control and good view ahead of you when you'd be picking up speed. You had loops that, with a wrong twist of the stick, you'd be weaving from side to side and coming out past sections of rings you'd need to pick up, or worse, you'd stop on a loop and fall to your death. The necessity to "homing attack" enemies, the ineffectiveness of spin-dashing, etc really couldn't bring the gameplay effectively to 3D. The games were relatively easy, but the replay was mainly based around getting better times/higher ranks/more emblems. There wasn't as much variety as the varied missions found in other 3D platformers at the time. And of course...Big fishing sections. However, I liked the soundtracks for the games, even though some of the rapping was really, really bad. I hated Sonic Heroes, and I honestly gave it a chance just like I did the N64 Castlevanias (and am glad I did in the case of Legacy of Darkness). I couldn't enjoy it.
