All very true. Mario Land 1 wasn't very good. It was in the spirit of the old NES games, but didn't feel quite right. Plus Mario was almost impossible to see. However, Sonic 1 for GG was basically just a stripped down version of the Genesis one, while SML was somewhat original. SML2 was excellent, though. SML3 / Wario Land and Wario Land II were great as well. But Wario's cool in general, while Sonic's clone (Shadow) needs to carry around firearms. Sonic had 3 of them. One was the kinda-lame but better than the Super Show one that was mainly comedy and only had Sonic and Tails. But, the other one was based on the Archie comics, which is loved by furry fans (-1), and the other was Sonic Underground (eeew.). Oh, and sorry, but giant fire breathing snapping turtle > fat guy who builds robots.

Mario. Most of the platformers he starred in often brought with them new innovations in gameplay, and if not, they'd often bring something new for the series to the table. The Sonic games just added new moves, and the Sonic Adventure games are far inferior to SM64/SM Sunshine. Sonic Drift vs. Mario Kart? Pfft... Sonic Spinball/Pinball Party vs. Mario Pinball...? Okay, Sonic, barely. Super Smash Bros. vs. Sonic Battle? No contest. Sonic Shuffle vs. the Mario Party series? Again, no contest. All Stars > Mega Collection I'll give the Sonic Advance games credit for at least being new, and Pocket Adventure is still an awesome game even if it is a slightly modified Sonic 2.

Ah, okay. How's Arch Rivals fit in? A proto-Jam of sorts? I know Midway did the arcade version, although Acclaim handled the home version. Speaking of Midway--apparently they've chosen their way to make up for EA locking up the NFL license: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3139346 I wonder if it's going to play like the NFL Blitz games, as the name would suggest.

Fight Night Round 2.

You mean, like, they've been doing for over 10 years? Hell, even SD1 coasted off the name (subtitled: Final Fantasy Gaiden). If it means he'll give the company a kick in the ass, so be it.

From Classicgaming.com They're still keeping us in the dark about what moves/fighting style/etc your created character would use.

All I know about Ring King is that...well...you'd sometimes dance with your opponent, and your cornerman would... I've said enough.

I d/led the ROM for Tyson's Punch-Out. Fun, but since I never actually played that version of it before (only SNES Punch Out) I wasn't as used to it. Apparently the blocking was changed, because Piston Honda's version of the Hurricane Rush did me in. Anyone know which of the GBA Punch-Out clones is the best? I know of Boxing Fever, Wade Hixton's Counter Punch, and Punch King. I've heard that Punch King's no good, though.

The heck? I countered one of the bagel's punches and scored an instant TKO.

Doh--that's right--I mean 3 pters. Any DS owners--check this out: http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3139258&did=1 I'm interested. I love the Kirby games.

I don't recall any high-profile politician calling for an outright ban, but they have no solution for it otherwise. The rating system is about all that be logically done right now. Anything further besides an outright ban is pretty much impossible to enforce. Oh, and I love the fact that the US, founded by those uptight Brits who were kicked out of England, lets these games be sold at all, but Austrailia, a country founded by whores and felons, likes to ban them outright.

Sounds like (Untold Legends) occupies a murky area between an Adventure game (i.e. like Legend of Zelda, often called an "Action-RPG") and a regular console RPG. Although I'd first heard it called that on another message board. But does it have turn-based battles, multiple party members, more focus on plot than gameplay, spiky hair and angst?

Okay, if/when Vince dies, if Linda is still around, but "creative" is going to be headed up by Trips/Steph and their yes-men, you feel that WWE will basically be no different? Or do you think that without Vince to have the final say, they'll kill the company, Linda or no? On a related note, my Strategic Management book has a case study on the WWF, and it's about 90% on Vince. Heh.

Supposedly there are some in Congress who want heavy fines for a company selling a game to a minor, or legal liability for kids who went nuts and started a school shooting. The problem with the former is that a kid can have a game indirectly bought. The problem with the latter is that it is trying to impose 3rd party liability, which every sensible judge and court in the country knows would set up such an insanely dangerous precedent, hence the reason the bullshit court cases from money-sucking lawyers and lousy parents has been thrown out every time. I've yet to hear briefs from lawyers who can come close to making any substantial, logical legal arguments. Rather, they try to impose 3rd-party liability and use weak emotional appeals.

...and College Slam. Although that game's such a carbon-copy of TE it's hardly worth trying if you own TE. Nintendo specifically said it wasn't, although backwards-compatibility with GBA sends a mixed message. Also likely. Although the "value pack" is pretty much a load. You only need the memory stick, charger/battery, not the headphones and that other junk.

N64 got 1999 and 2000. Most of the post-TE game were kinda "eh." Nintendo's "new Game Boy" is supposed to launch near the end of the year. The Xenon is launching near the end of the year. The Christmas season is the most profitable time of the year for console sales. I'll take a wild guess and say the day after Thanksgiving or damn close to it.

It's not? Also, 58 year-old woman using "diss" = comedy Yeah, beat you to it. I didn't think it was worthy enough to start a thread on. Since the latest VG thread on the subject was old, the Minnesota thread was the more relevant place for it. Sadly, Lieberman was satisfied with the ESRB and hasn't really made a big stink about the issue since.

I had assumed the MitB match would have been used to decide a challenge for Summerslam, since otherwise they likely wouldn't have bothered saying "any time within the next 12 months" and would have just said for the next PPV. However, a two-month span or so is possible too, I guess.

Because WCW Motorsports was so successful, and you really have to *push* to get that lucrative white trash/redneck demographic to get into wrestling.
-
I love that game. Which team do you use? I thought the GBC 2002 edition was kind of lame. I'd been spoiled by much more impressive looking GBC games as well, as the GBA, at the time. Personally, on T.E. I liked using the Hornets. Bogues was quite the sneaky little midget--awesome at stealing and free-throws. My guess is that Kenny used that pyramid scheme thing to get one from online. Cartman wouldn't have the friends to do it.

Release the pink DS over here, and pack in Nintendogs. That's the ticket.

Awesome. Great find.
