The OAO 77th Annual Academy Awards Thread
AndrewTS replied to CBright7831's topic in Television & Film
I don't think Scorcese will ever get an Oscar--and there's a reason why. Saw this posted on another board: The Academy didn't screw Marty; Marty screwed Marty. -

Trish's are real. Stacy doesn't really have any.
-
He's not good enough right now to be put over Taker, either.
-
By that logic, there's no reason that half the roster doesn't deserve the win as much as Orton.
-
I wonder who will get the blame for the f-up though....
-
The line on the cover probably referred to her being the Diva Search Champion, because that's what she is. WWE never called her that. Face it, they're putting the title on Christy for publicity. I may be wrong, but I recall them saying the same thing for the other "Divas" who posed, so it could be just a generic, albeit inaccurate, thing they'd say anyway. Like "WWE Superstar" or "female wrestler."
-
Yeah, I could see that. Orton gets his "win" and Taker can still be a guy who was "never made to pin or submit at a Wrestlemania." Orton going over Taker clean would be a waste. His heat'll evaporate again in less than a year. Doesn't really matter, but I'm a bit amused that they had Edge job clean before the Angle attack. Edge = upper midcard for life I guess.

I guess I'm the only one that thought it was stupid and immature.

If Matt and Lita are broken up, I don't know what I'll do. I just might do something drastic, like make a sandwich or something. I'm hungry. This hair growing all over the bread...it makes me think of Matt!! This baloney..it makes me think of Lita's skin...and this mayo on the baloney...WAAAAAH!

Funaki busted out the DD a few times. So it's kosher, but it could actually be used on the main shows since Austin isn't actively wrestling anymore. An Oklahoma Slam would be fine on Smackdown, but I don't want it on a Raw where it will cause JR to ramble on about Dr. Death. Funaki also used the Fisherman Buster, but I don't think WWE'd let that go these days. However, Fisherman Suplex would be fine. Val used it as a signature move--but it's not like he uses it anymore or wrestles that much even.

Stacy went from David Flair to Test.

Huh. The Luger thing I can believe, especially given the amount of roids the guy's done in his time. Buff a chubby chaser? As for Sting into S&M.... I'm surprised Russo didn't make anything of it. Buff could have been the chubby chaser instead of Awesome. Enzyte Lex! Sting could have used Goldust's Artist gimmick, complete with rubber ball gag. Well, it's pretty well known that Honkey and Lawler hate each other. They're cousins, so you'd think it was just a professional rivalry thing, but naw--it's gotten way personal even before the Kat situation.

Sadly, that's what I typed when I was just guessing at it, but I did it as one long word so it looked all funky. I remember having an OLD issue of an Apter mag and it showed Lord Humongous locking up Dick Murdoch in a kata hajime, and spending forever trying to figure out how to pronounce the word ... give me a break, though, I was like 11 at the time. It's just an approximation of how the characters are pronounced in English. I don't think there are any set rules for it. Other Japanese hold names to sound like a l33+ puro smark "sasori gatame" (literally, "Scorpion Hold/Lock"; Sting's move) "juji gatame" (side armbar applied on the mat) and much, much more!: http://tapout.association.users.btopenworl.../Dictionary.htm Rudo could probably come up with better links, though.

This thread is turning into a classic. I never heard about the Honky thing, but I do remember hearing about the Kat screwing guys backstage all the time, including Jeff being named as one of them. The stuff involving Helms though sounds too damn ridiculous. I just can't picture that guy involved in any of that stuff. The "stealthily watching Lita getting screwed by Tomko and Snitsky" stuff sounds more believable, IMO.
-
Move it fine, but "Batista Bomb?" Is that the best name that Ross (I presume) could come up with? It's "Kata Hajime," you filthy round-eyed gaijin bastid!! WWE's "change to a more submission-based style" policy *should* have led to more, and more credible, submissions used. Instead, it just means more restholds. Johnny Ace actually created it though. There are few original moves in wrestling, so it's kinda moot. But if possible, wrestlers should make it their own (add something to it). I liked the spinning gut-wrench powerbomb Page would sometimes do.

The commercials for it seem like the AS peeps are making fun of it rather than plugging it. "INUYASHA!" "KAGOME!" "Inuyasha!" "Kagooome!" "Inuyasha!!~" "Kagome." I missed Robot Chicken *again*. Fortunately, I caught the Thursday showing of the last ep. I was thinking it was on Midnight and Oscars caused me to forget about it. Well, gotta catch the repeat.

"Dracula May Cry" (my pet name for it) was only above-average at best IMO, and I have the soundtrack. It lacked the magic of the more recent CVs and certainly of SotN. Not bad, but hardly a long, engrossing, unforgettable experience. I honestly should give it another shot, though. Since I didn't play it much when I had rented it. It's mainly that I didn't feel it was worth dropping the amount for a full game on it. *side note: wonders if I should be ashamed to actually know what an OS-tan is.*

I picked it up for $5.99 used and I love it. I haven't finished it yet (when you've got about 5 games you're working through a little bit of a time each, it's hard to get around to finishing one), but I'd heard it's quite short so I didn't mention it. However, Kri may be the biggest "bang for buck" PS2 game I've purchased before.

PoP1 is good, but your first time through you might beat it in, oh, 10 hours or less. Second time through significantly shorter. Fantastic game, but not lengthy. Disgaea is excellent from what I've played of it. Despite the interface, the gameplay isn't the clunky, limited affair of FFTA. Plus, the dialogue is much like a WD translation--light-hearted and humorous. Despite loathing most newer RPGs, it really grabbed me. Of course...that's significantly more than you have to spend (didn't see the subtitle). I also recommend the Ratchet and Clanks. There's so much to see and do, plenty of missions to fulfill, there's the New Game plus experience, finding the RYNO, getting the gold weapons--and that's just the first game. If you've conquered the first game, then you can use your save files to unlock bonus weapons in the second game. Going Commando is more highly-polished, features upgradable weapons, and I love the shooter sections as much as some of the main game. The third one I've barely nicked, but it's really good as well. If you do everything in the games, it takes quite a bit of time. The first ones are pretty cheap these days, too.

I think you mean Sandra Bullock. There's a difference? Yeah. Julia's agent deserves awards more than Julia herself. -
