Didn't the first ever Smackdown have that function where you could basically name any of your CAW's moves? For the signature and finisher only, I believe. However, the CAW mode was so awful in it that there was no point to it. A simple way to improve games: control configurating. Extensively so. Every single game should allow you a great deal of freedom on how to configurate your controls, no exception. From simple examples like the GC MMAC, to the Splinter Cells, to Rumble Roses. It seems a lot of times they're changed simply to screw with people. *shrug* Even one-button specials for fighters seems kosher, since it shouldn't make any difference, and it's a nice option for beginners. All RPGs should let you name your characters. Sure, this has its problems (I've found some used 16-pit RPGs with stuff like HUGEASS and MNSTRCOK used as names), but considering RPGs should let you personalize your characters as much as possible, it's the least that they can do. Of course, the ability to personalize, in general, adds a lot towards any game--making your own hood designs in Rage Racer, CAWs in wrestling games, focusing stat-building in the way you play your characters, etc. Mini-games: there's many kinds--the irritating, frustrating sort that unnecessarily blocks progress in your game and often demands you master such skills as "racing against cheap computer AI in non-racing games 50 times until the law of averages falls in your favor" or the brainless "buy a turbo controller since you can't mash buttons fast enough to pass this" type. There's the less-annoying "minor puzzle that should be easily solved with a little thinking" type However, the best kind is the "completely optional, damn entertaining extra games that are entertaining enough in and of themselves to keep you occupied for a while" type. A big reason why SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Millenium is such a cool game.

It's kind of funny how nowadays everyone is an expert on the Metal Gear "legacy," but prior to Solid next to nobody seemed to ever hear of the games. Plus, the series skipped an entire console generation. Of course, during the 16 bit days Konami didn't need it; sure, they had a few "franchises," but were pumping out quality games at an astounding rate, even making good *licensed* games. Anyone remember what started the big hullaboo about the Metal Gear revival? One of the major complaints I've heard from friends about the Splinter Cells. Don't get why you'd change a decent control scheme.

Wha? MGS3 is a great game. It just suffers a little from the fingerprints of one the most pretentious, egotistical, overrated video game directors in all of Japan*...but only a little. However, if you're tied to a lot of the usual MG or video game conventions you may find it boring and frustrating at first. MGS2 positively reeks of it, though. MGS3's sales weren't nearly as big as the hype for it would seem to dictate. I believe the bad taste left in people's mouth over 2 was the direct and major cause.

Your objectivity is stunning per usual. I was never a HST fan -- so what? It's not like I said "I'm glad the bastard's dead." Oh, and regarding the Fifth Element -- I liked the movie, got the DVD, but will not get the recently printed "Ultra/Special/Whatever Edition..." What's so special about it? 3 extra seconds of Milla's boobs? I don't think RT's system is all that bad. Who needs two Metacritics? Likewise, who needs two RTs? It merely helps amplify the general consensus and give you a look at the big picture. I use both myself. ...funny thing--RT is similar to an Electoral College for movie ratings.

Weird. I've seen that commercial a bazillion times, but tonight I thought to myself, "I'd really like to see how she is in bed once she gets older." Then I come here and see this post. So by "older" you mean 5 years?

You forgot Mortal Kombat Gold. I mean, if you're going to include all the versions of Mortal Kombat 3, you might as well include the alternate version of Mortal Kombat 4. If they'd do Gold, it would be worth picking up if they'd fix the bugs in it. Plus, I could *never* get the cheat codes to play as the secret characters right for MKGold. It's like every single place where they published the code was incorrect. I entered it *damn* fast too, so I don't know why it never worked for me. Trilogy made owning any other version of MK3 redundant, but you need the GH version because the original PS1 one is buggy as hell as well. However, the GH version will not work properly on a PS2 (goes to a black screen when you should go to Kahn's treasures). I'll take the SNES version over MAT2 MK2. Sure, it's damn purty for a 2D game even today, but the Smoke code is screwed and the difficulty settings are all out of whack.

All of the SCs are cake after the first one, really. Although it's a little hard to play the first one now, because the graphics have aged *very* poorly. Still, it's dirt cheap, extremely challenging, and long.

Ditto--they also act if you're doing this for a "free" blood testing for HIV. Of course, this was the Central Blood Bank I believe, and may not have been Red Cross. CBB's donor cards are nicer. Red Cross' are a lousy paper card.

Quick--somebody sue Activision and Sega (for Jet Grind Radio)! They're making vandalism simulators that are compelling our children to commit acts like this!

I think he means, "now that Bush BECAME president, I think he's a historic figure and that's why I'm releasing these tapes." Mike's right in that Bush does himself a service by being consistent in what he said in private and what he said in public. I don't necessarily think these tapes help Bush, but I wouldn't say they hurt him. The worst thing seems to be the marijuana use, but everyone already knew that and no one really cares. I guess some people might be upset that this doesn't reveal him to be the conniving evil genius we're supposed to believe he actually is in private.

Are they replaying RC soon? I forgot about it. EDIT: N/M. Thanks DH. No, no, no, and no. What the fuck is funny about TGTTM again? I've yet to laugh even once. I love ATHF, Sea Lab is hit-or-miss most of the time (early eps were best); big fan of SMC. Did drunk Superman tear a hooker in half?

And it made $7 mil.? Good... laugh out loud good Alone in the Dark was probably funnier.

Okay, I bought a used SNES Game Genie online, only to find out it didn't work. Oddly, when I have the switch off, it plays just fine, but when I turn the switch back on, it doesn't. Anyway, I found out the likely problem; later versions of the SNES were made to prevent the Game Genie from working with any games. I'd heard about it in a FAQ and it was one of the measures Nintendo took after losing a lawsuit to Galoob. This makes sense, because I have the 2nd model SNES, which looks completed different. I don't know if the "earlier" SNESs were changed directly after the lawsuit. So, basically I'm stuck with it so I'll have to try to find somebody who can use it. I was hoping somebody here might be able to tell me the newest manufactured models of SNES that still work with the Genie. Of course, that may be hard to pinpoint, because the bottom of my SNES 2 says "1991" which doesn't sound right to me. I believe the lawsuit ended in 1992, but I don't know when Nintendo may have started modifying their consoles to prevent its use. I think Christmas 1994 consoles already had protections from it, because I believe that's when I got my original SNES and had problems when I'd rented a Genie. Anyone know?

...that wasn't the question. "I was hoping somebody here might be able to tell me the newest manufactured models of SNES that still work with the Genie." Thanks for restating what I already knew and not helping at all.

Tajiri won the WCW Cruiser title from X-Pac. -didn't XP sell the LH title on Ebay?

Pittsburgh I don't think is. Philly, yes.

Heh, I stopped watching it, but I checked this one out to see how bad it was. Plus, those of us without Neilson boxes make no impact.

Did he get much heel heat for it? Or was it like that time Kurt dissed the Steelers and got a pop because even we know they suck?

So, you quit watching the Simpsons about the time you last changed your sig? (Comic Book Guy) I believe the appropriate spelling in this situation would be "G-H-E-Y," actually. (/CBG)

It's STILL a Namco game.

"He will seek a fresh start in relations with French President Jacques Chirac by meeting him at a working dinner," *stops reading to go outside and laugh maniacally*

Or you could just PM bob_barron.

Aside from the Game Boy Player, there's also knockoffs out there that does the same thing; on the downside, you need a GC for that too and it only plays GBA games, not GB/GBC. Since Jingus probably doesn't have a GC, guess he's not interested. You must have a talent for breaking things--I dropped my GBA plenty of times and it was just fine. Then again, I had a protection plan, which virtually guarantees you wouldn't actually need it. I think Anya said an arcade Primal Rage 2 came out. Shenmue II also came to the DC in Europe. So, plenty of places sold a PAL copy of the game with a converter disc. However, it was multiple discs and was a pain in the BUTT to boot up. Virtually every CV game has some sort of Belmont. Remember of course that female Belmonts and their children may not carry on the name, even though they still have the blood. Exceptions are Alucard, Nathan Graves, Soma, some secondary characters, and so forth. Basically, a hunter usually has no chance of beating Dracula (storyline-wise) unless he/she either possesses a) the Vampire Killer b) Belmont blood. Alucard basically nailed the "first" Belmont, Sonia Belmont, and so the Belmont clan actually has some of Dracula's blood, which explains why the Belmonts are so powerful. Plus, isn't that some of legend about certain types of immortals--only family can kill them? Alucard didn't have the VK, but he had Drac's blood. For more detailed info in chronological order (not in the order the games came out) there's info here: http://www.classicgaming.com/castlevania/m-story.gif Naturally, lots of this stuff was added later on by different teams, so some things conflict.

Assuming you hated the GBA games--huh? http://www.classicgaming.com/castlevania/games.htm Lots of people disliked 2... 90's had 3, 4, Bloodlines, and Symphony getting domestic release. I'd like to see some of the "RPG elements" of the newer games get the ax, though. On-topic--info on the cancelled DC CV.

I remember that movie...well, at least reading the review of it on X-E.
