Not all the time. But when specific titles I loathe are mentioned the venom comes gushing out. I wish that the genre would show more actual gameplay improvements, that's all. (Remember kiddies, he had Sephiroth in his avatar/sig before...) I'd like to second Vagrant Story, BTW. By the time I actually got around to playing it I'd been spoiled by PS2/DC graphics, but it's still hella fun and isn't just the same ol, same ol. Are the GBA games just ports of the SNES/Super Famicom games? I know it's an action RPG, but Konami's supposed to release either a new Y's or a remake of Y's for PS2. There's supposed to be a PS2 Phantasy Star Collection too, at least according to EB's release schedule. Dunno if they're the Genesis titles or the Sega Ages ones (if so, I don't think they've done all of them). I played a demo of Suikoden IV. Didn't seem too exciting, lots of loading, but it *was* just a demo.

What's wrong with Shannon Moore? He is alot better then most of the roster. It's about time he gets a PPV slot. Going by just his WWE work, he's like Kidman but better at taking bumps and with a stupider haircut.

Nope. They're former MK peeps, I don't know if they have any knowledge of wrestling or how a wrestling game should play, so I don't think the engine will be able to deliver the goods. I'll give them the benefit out the doubt for now, since it took several games for Yukes to create a WWF game that didn't suck.

You didn't really say what you were looking for in an RPG, so it's fair to ask (albeit I did it in a backhanded way) what you're looking for a newer RPG. You didn't really give anyone anything to go on other than examples of other titles you liked. Should we assume recommendations should be limited to "traditional" RPGs or not?

Eh, maybe. But Amy's gotta dress more formal, wear glasses, and attempt to sound intelligent. Optionally, she can carry a notebook computer to bash faces in the head with. Did you intend to type "stale?"

Are you a closet heterosexual or something with all the Trish love, Loss? I don't think that Molly's a "bad actor," it's just that she's had all of two characters her entire WWE tenure: "sweet, pure Molly Holly" and "prudish, jealous fat-assed bitch Molly." Not a whole hell of a lot to work with there. Trish was, IMO, AWFUL on the mic just after the heel turn. In general, I never really cared for her heel work at all. When not on the mic, she worked the character just fine, but her mic work comes off as cheesy and fake to me all the time. Of course, part of the blame must be placed on the writers, but I simply can't take it seriously whatsoever. I think she works a lot better as a face, although in either case, her character is so protected and nigh-invincible that only Victoria and Lita are ever considered major rivals, but you know usually among them that Trish will likely prevail. Trish's offense is just fine (although the Stratusfaction, "Matrix Move,", Stratusphere, and That Kick With a Really Stupid Name are more contrived than even most WWE spots), but her selling and bumping are pretty much top notch. When Gail and Molly were teamed up trying to end her career, she took some nasty bumps to sell the story.

I honestly kinda liked the approaches Josie & The Pussycats and Rocky & Bullwinkle took to it. They were still stupid in a lot of ways, but didn't take themselves all that seriously and had fun with the premise. This could be that way, but I never saw the old cartoons. If they make a Jabberjaw movie, I won't see it no matter what, though.

You want good RPGs.... ...or the same old stale, mediocre, turn-based RPGs with cliche stories, stock characters, and maybe handfuls of gratuitous religious references just for the hell of it? Because of that list you made, I'd conclude the latter. I'm sure Flik could hook you up in that case. Be on the lookout for Xenosaga Ep. 2, with 15% less actual gameplay!

They'd supposedly meant to focus more on the European market with it at the time, but I think plans changed and it quickly turned into a title that low-carders fought over.

Did I stumble into a Yuna post by mistake? Mokujin, though? Laaame. Well, I guess it's inevitable to include one of those characters, since it probably takes next to no memory to program in and is a way for experts to show off.

There is a reason for that. The new PS2, the slimline ones, DO NOT SUPPORT THE HDD. I think Sony just wants to forget about it, and MAYBE use it on the PS3 As opposed to the current installed user base of over 15 million for the regular PS2 (yeah, the slimline is selling well, but if those folks had incentives to get the HDD...)? That's not really a reason, that's just a result from the current situation. Sony has zero faith in it at this point, which is a direct result of them not supporting the damn thing at all. Compared to the HDD, the Sega CD and 32X were successful. It's, oh, slightly more successful than Nintendo's 64DD, though.

How can it be a "division" when probably at least half of the televised matches are tag team matches, and they're down to 4-5 total wrestlers *now*?
-
I agree, but she'd better bust out the martial arts mastery to go with the rest of the stereotypical character. Kenzo is so useless that I swear somebody at WWE meant to try to sign Kensuke Sasaki, but was dyslexic and thought Kenzo Suzuki was close enough.

And if you're a face, it's fine and dandy (Torrie, Dawn). justcoz covered a hell of a lot of non-storyline ones. The past three weeks of Raw with the wrestlers "booking" lousy shows with stupid fluffer crap, devoting nearly as much time screwing with Coach as with HHH, and the shows overall looking like they were booked EXACTLY THE SAME as not only each other, but the same as the shows look week-in week-out. SD running 2 Diva-centric angles *and* having DS rejects and losers running around in any role they can find for them, all at the same time. JBL still has the WWE Championship, but isn't taken seriously, isn't expected to be taken seriously, and is really just a lame duck champion at this point. Each show has about 3 real tag teams in their tag team divisions. Raw has about 4 actual wrestlers in its women's division. Nobody cares about Maven until one night he's pushed as an underdog babyface. 2 weeks later he's turned into a whining crybaby heel. The Cruiserweight Division: the current champion, the current contenders (i.e. the guys who actually get pushed for a shot ait it), the style used in most CW matches being identical to regular heavy matches, etc.

Considering that PS2 expediated DVD acceptance, I'd say it will be significant, although it may not win it for Sony. If this means that PS3 won't be backward-compatible--laaame. I know nothing about Blu-Ray, though... Will Fox's decision be major, anyone think?

A possibly decent main event... Match for an angle I don't care about. Comedy tag team against thrown-together-tag-team-currently-getting-a-push in a match we've seen before, although there *might* be a title switch this time. Shannon Moore on a PPV??! HAHAHAH!! SD really is sad. Stupid fluffer match. Hoss grunt fest. What a pathetic card.

Any chance in hell of an X-Box home version? They did it for SCII, but in general--lousy bias against the gaijin console...

http://www.classicgaming.com is a good source for a lot of similar questions, BTW.

Please tell me that's sarcasm, because that makes as much sense as people bitching that people were bitching about "making new stars" but aren't happy when WWE decides to push wrestlers who suck.

RT-News writes: "The Los Angeles Times has an article on how Michael Moore, the controversial director of "Fahrenheit 9/11" and "Bowling for Columbine," is spending his time after the November election – chopping logs and catching up on sleep. He's still bummed that Bush has won the election, but offers a way for the Democrats to win the next election. "The way to win is to run someone people are familiar with, and trust: Tom Hanks, Paul Newman, Martin Sheen," the Times quoted. Even though he's laying low for now, it won't be long before we hear from him again." From: Rotten-Tomatoes.com

Woah, I'm not gay. I was just simply mentioning Benjamin has it, and Haas doesn't. I was in no way checking either of them out.

So, perfect ports of the X-Box versions I guess.
-
Remember the Diva Search losers? Well, she's a Diva Search reject. She was one of the ones booted on the casting special.

I personally think you'd need some kind of gamepad to get the same experience, but I don't think WWE/THQ sees PC gamers as a big market for a very console-friendly game. Didn't PC get the Raw titles though? So I guess it's possible. Oh, and PS2 does have that HDD that came out and NO COMPANY IS BOTHERING TO USE IT FOR THEIR GAMES otherwise you wouldn't need a PC version for that stuff.

What was wrong with Chief Morley? I thought he showed some fine, very natural acting in the role, worked some good matches, and cut some great promos during that time. He made the best of it and was *this* | | close to finally breaking away from the stupid porn gimmick... And then they--well, you know the rest. Here's my problem with that gimmick: It relied pretty much on Bischoff. It wasn't self-sufficient and made him look like a lackey. The idea of a "fighting" authority figure is interesting: someone wants something, they have to beat the authority figure to get it. The authority figure gets in a feud with a wrestler and so on, like Regal was for a time. What you had with Morely was a glorified lackey. I think that's why he didn't take off. While he did well in that role, he couldn't shake the 'assisstant' label and gain some credibility on his own. Okay, I understand now, but I'm looking at it from the perspective that, while far from perfect, it did a hell of a lot more for his stock than any Val Venis return ever would, and, if they'd booked him well after that, he could be out of that gimmick's long, sticky shadow and into a decent role. They blew it though, basically shafting him back to the Val gimmick and having completely taken off the main shows for a while. However, the reason for the Morely role and the real reason perhaps it happened was that Morely wasn't 100% at the time and it gave him a chance to wrestle part-time but take time off from the ring when he needed it. Fortunately, he's been healthy for quite some time now, but they may not consider him worth pushing now, which is really a shame.
