Oh--Ren hooked me up with some of this, but I decided to pass it along.... http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/09/24/news_6108677.html 3 games in one sounds like something SCEA may let SNK get away with in the US, but the one most deserving of a US release, MotW, is currently going to be a standalone. Well, the option to import is still there...but hopefully it will come here. MotW is believed by many to be the finest fighter SNK has produced. Re-Bout is supposed to be more of a remake than just the same thing, and to use high-res sprites. Metal Slug 3D is also in the works, but I have nothing on that but a few blurry screen shots that show nothing, but it's going to come out. So right now, yes for Japan and we don't know for the US. Although I'm skeptical because of 4 and 5...and I don't know about Advance yet. I'm skeptical about MS Advance since SNK doesn't seem to be able to make any *new* good games--Chaos anyone?

I hope Shark Tale goes away quickly. Will Smith must be stopped. First Daughter's BO makes me chuckle. Maybe they could have, you know, waited a little longer before rehashing Chasing Liberty? Taxi has got to bomb. Come on, who the hell would go to a movie starring Jimmy Fallon?

Sounds exactly like the "Documents of Metal Gear Solid 2" that they put out separately and charged extra for, too. Ah, MGS2--the game that just keeps on screwing.

See topic. We often take them for granted, some of may even throw them away sometimes. A lot of us like to hate them, though, and hate when EB/Gamestop gets rid of them, since we'd be more likely to buy the games if they had everything with them. However, sometimes the manuals are actually worth reading. Maybe it's actually useful, riddled with mangled Engrish, decent jokes, or is flat out bizarre. Two that come to mind are: the Donkey Kong Country games, filled with wise-ass comments from Cranky Kong which aren't too different from a lot of bitter old-school gamers who diss games for relying on fancy graphics. Ecco the Dolphin's manual...the manual itself isn't the thing, but rather...what's in the very back of them. Anyone who has played the Ecco games probably has an opinion formed about the developers as being tree-hugging hippies, but the back of the manual has an odd, somewhat admirable, if strange appeal... It has a list of recommended books about dolphins. They sure love their dolphins. List yours.

Tn'T has a regular section where they highlight winning bids for rare/high demand games on Ebay. Gee, you only paid $120. I had my suspicions it might have been you... That's not as insane as $340 (or so) for Mega Man X3 SNES, though. Too bad I didn't have a few nutjobs like that checking it out when I had it up for auction--I'd only gotten $95 for it. Well, it was the cartridge only, though... That's probably the deal--hell, I never knew such an animal existed. Is it the same port as the Saturn version, or arcade perfect? There's been no KoF 2004, oddly, although they've put out Neo Wave, Maximum Impact, and I've heard of something called Battle Colosseum. Is BC the US name for Neo Wave, or something different? Maybe they've come to the conclusion that the annual edition thing is major overkill.

Sadly, the NA version of its manual is rather mundane. Tech Romancer's is kind of odd. From the description of Love & Punch.... "Watch the screen. If Junpei appears, kiss him quick. If a girl appears, give her a tap." ...to the profiles. "G. Kaiser posseses overwhelming power and is made of highly advanced metal, giving great strength to the armor." "Pulsion has achieved legendary status by saving the Earth from impending doom!!" "Bolon was created by its pilot, Polin, who used her magical ability to make this unusual robot" .... "Bolon uses a very unique style of attack." "Its huge sword Zankouken is extremely destructive." "This armored, land-based robot is equipped with heavy artillery capable of inflicting intense damage on an opponent. While this robot cannot jump, he possesses strong armor and devastating weaponry."

*bump* for a tidbit--the the "E-card" aspect of Metal Slug Advance is confirmed to be an in-game system using things called "E-cards." It's not e-reader compatible. Tips and Tricks explained it. Also, in the same issue it was mentioned that somebody bought the Japanese PS1 import of MKII (yeah, never heard of it either) for 175 bucks on Ebay...now who would do that and why?

Doh--I thought SF3NG was 1999. That was TS, though. I stand corrected. I was thinking of the home version. Although I suppose a 2-3 year timeframe until a home console could support a title could certainly cause interest to wane--yet another factor in SF3's lack of popularity that I had forgotten about. And for the hell of it--Dan's MSH vs. SF ending: http://www.vgmuseum.com/end/arcade/a/mshsfdan.htm The only way it could be more awesome is if Dan's sister was decked out in stereotypical Native American squaw garb.
-
Well, the SF3's came later, but there's a whole mess of reasons why those never quite flew with folks. Hmph, I didn't know that. Maybe she was a Rival Schools reject, too? From what I gather, her and maybe the Warzard folks are the only new sprites to be found in the game. If Zangief is in under the SF2 roster, does that mean he's going to use his SF2 sprite? Yow. Shin Akuma and Pyron are supposed to be in.

Morrigan's sprite is so damn old that it's been mocked by everyone. Felicia's is just as old, but her boobies bounce so they hope people will therefore ignore that for a little while. I agree. Unfortunately, Dan was so craptastically awesome in that that he officially jumped the shark with that game.
-
That's silly. No self-respecting capitalist would lend their support to the Red Queen.

Actually, a simple "it's such-and-such type of RPG" (which I'm assuming it is) would suffice. I was mainly asking about the gameplay. I'm glad that hat doesn't shoot laser beams. But just in case...*gets a running start* They made Finale Fantasia, too, right?
-
Because for games like this storylines make absolutely no damn sense. It's a "dream match" thing. If this had a canon storyline, Sakura and Karin would be in their mid-20's at least, M. Bison should be dead, the Darkstalkers wouldn't really fit in, and....well, I haven't the faintest idea about Warzard. Did the Versus games have a story? Did anyone care? They didn't really have good gameplay either and few cared about that, either. Okay, MvC2 having a boss Capcom just pulled out of nowhere and no endings was lame, though (or was that was a Marvel character they put in as the boss). CANON!! TWO N'S! NOT THREE!!! At least you'd originally put it in quotation marks, because I assume that there are people out there stupid enough to spell it with 3 all the time.

I got one of those DNC e-mails too. Why, I don't know. It was marked as being, yes, from the DNC. I'm a registered Dem but I don't recall giving them my e-mail addy. KERRY HAS COOTIES!

Take that damn Burger King crown off, you crazy honkey. So, am I alone in wondering "just what the heck is Growlanser, anyway?" I know you said "no questions on the series," but I think if you want it you might be able to answer that much.

Capcom canned the 3D project Capcom Fighting All Stars. This is different. Which is kind of a shame. WHERE IS MIKE MOTHER****ING HAGGAR?!?!--oh yeah, they'd have to make new sprites. If that's a complaint against SF fanboys, I don't get it. Most SF fans don't give a crap about the storyline, save for the uber-scrubs who care about the HK comics. Plus, nobody really complained about the storylines for the vs. games (the storylines, no, but other things). If this is going to be a really good, finely polished fighter fine-tuned to provide the best possible gameplay, good... Although if it is going to be a scrubby vs.-esque infinite-fest with crappy balance, they could have at least given us a larger roster. Well, it's going to be better than SvsCC at least.

Iraq War: Waited for the "proof" of the WMD. Never got them. Got friends there, so hope it can be stabilized as quickly as possible, but know it's going to take a long time and will be a drain on the economy for years to come. Big Gov't/Small Gov't/Social programs: Depends. Make it harder for able-bodied, perfectly healthy folks to freeload, and harder for them to simply take a job, slack off, and get fired. Social programs are good if they go to the right folks, but I'm convinced that isn't the case a lot of the time. War on drugs: if pot is legalized, since it is a hallucinogen, big fines should be administered for *public* use, especially operating a vehicle. Drunk driving laws should be very tough. The hard stuff should remain illegal. Abortion: Personally opposed, but for those who want it--first trimester only. Gay marriage: Personally opposed, but civil unions are fine. However, no superior rights should be granted. Taxes- Tax cuts are good, consumption tax would be best Pledge- Keep it in, just to piss off the asshole hippies. Guns- Don't know enough about the issue; would need more info, but there's no need for civilians to own heavy artillery. Affirmative action: against The courts: hooboy--where to begin? Death penalty: against; make them serve hard labor so that they can pay back to society some way, rather than getting HBO, gyms to work out with and sports to play, and man ass to sate their carnal desires. Teaching practical sex-ed: Yes--but personally some folks are so damn stupid they should be neutered to be safe. Across borders racial profiling- Undecided. Medical Care= Universal health care is a mess, and privatized health care is a mess. I see no reason to go too far in either direction. Bush= I lean towards the Republican side, otherwise I wouldn't really support him at all. He wouldn't have been my first or second choice in 2000, but I disliked Gore even more. Kerry= Personally turns me off, but I don't think he'd be too bad as President. I want him to tell me what the hell he stands for, though. I hate his "global" views, though. As for government programs--I'm not knowledgable enough to decide what needs cut. However, NASA has provided plenty of important and practical contributions, so they're fine by me. Should be watched, though.

Randy Orton may not be all that over
AndrewTS replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in The WWE Folder
Except for those times he did and showed more intensity than Orton ever has on the mic (even if he hammed it up just a bit). Orton speaks well these days, but still is mediocre at best on the mic, because he doesn't convince me he cares about any of this. Even though as either a stylish badass or a frickin' monster, Batista still looks and acts the part. Even though he's improved by huge leaps as a wrestler and is developing into a very solid power wrestler/brawler. He looks hard and tough, and can be bought as either a monster heel or face. In contrast, Randy Orton looks like a Power Plant reject who hit a vending machine for his tats, looking like he's *trying* to look hard and failing miserably. He worked before the face turn because he looked like a pretty-boy, wise-ass, pussy heel. WWE trying to put him over as something serious makes me laugh. When his new music played and he came out for his match on Raw, it took me a while to remember who he was. He looks like a wuss who should be doing prelim matches, not like a breakout star who I can seriously buy as being a main eventer at this time in his career. Then again, it's not like WWE wanted the fans to cheer for him as a heel. Maybe there's something I just don't get that's great about him using the typical WWE face gimmick and doing typical WWE face stuff like annoying Bischoff, but walking around with a shit-eating grin. Oh, and OOOH--he spit in HHH's face. *yawn* Rudo: What happens if WWE brings back B-Squared, though? -
I'm against the DP. Bring back the chain gangs, make 'em serve hard labor (HARD TIME! *nightstick flip*)
-
The title is odd... Tony: I can't believe it, Brain!! John Eisenhower has just defected to the Kerry World Order!!
-
Too bad I got very little love or discussion out of that one post. I would have loved to add to it, but my disinterest in Raw lately, as well as just beginning to check out SD again left me with little to contribute. Mad props for it, though. Wh00t!

Randy Orton may not be all that over
AndrewTS replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in The WWE Folder
As opposed to the different, lame and unusual 'UnderQuaker' shirt? The NWO and Austin 3:16 shirts weren't exactly groundbreaking either. Simpler shirts sell better as fans are more likely to wear them in public. Hence Rock's ones being mainly catchphrased shirts. If Randy had a catchphrase/character that went with it and had a great hook to it, it would work. Don't even try to compare Austin 3:16 or nWo to that. Oooooh, it's his initials and what I presume is a tattoo design. It worked for Goldberg (tattoo and his name), but that was about all that you could really use to establish the connection. Any FGB merchandise that wasn't completely terrible would have sold anyway. The Orton/Batista one is just a symptom of WWE's "Rookies with short hair, tattoos, and 'the look' who are all not really that different from each other as far as character" mentality. What's interesting about either of those shirts, really? -
Moot point. RDR was a Capcom game that R* merely bought out of development purgatory and published. I never played it, but either way it is an invalid point. Although I'd heard that the PS2 version of it was slop. I'll give them their props with GTA--but it took them four games to get it right. The shocking part is that the first 3D GTA was done right on the first try. That's very difficult to do, indeed.

Rudo, Rando, Downhome. They do a great job of bringing the content and the funny. Rudo does a great balance all the time, but while Rando usually brings the snide comments, he'll bust out a real winner of a post like his Raw/SD analysis. Downhome doesn't really touch the other two in either area, but I like his attitude and he's got some good posts. Unlike the other two mentioned he's in a lot of other folders and does bring more content to those. Honorable mention to Anyanka: the VG folder wouldn't be quite as fun without her to bitch at. Honorable mention 2 to Anglesault: he never really brought the content, but the wise-ass attitude and mockery stood out a lot in the past. He's barely done anything lately, though.

Nothing too shocking there. I agree.
