I used the Predator CE movie pass and a friend used movie cash. The listing actually said "no passes" online, but the peeps at the counter didn't care.

I really like the Venture Brothers--I was anticipating it since the first commercials, and so far it delivers. That, JLU, Megas--great TV. The Hooper & whatever pilot did well according to AS, so probably we'll see more eps.

AVP being number 1 isn't surprising. However, it's an extremely underwhelming number one. Gee, I wonder how much it made if they don't count the free passes?

That's just a guess, though. I mean, if humans who aren't fully mature can have children - then why not this species of alien? Sure, why not? Maybe they incubated the Queen inside a rabbit or something. If we're sticking with the way Aliens breed from the second movie, they work very similar to bees. Therefore, most of the aliens will be the "worker" sort, doing most of the gathering of new hosts and so on. There would be a small number of "drones" to mate with the queen. The workers in bee colonies are simply females that never reached sexual maturity. The queen is the only female in the colony that has reached sexual maturity. Therefore, a queen pumping out eggs should be at least moderately mature. Of course, one possible explanation would be that since the Queen here is at least a couple hundred years old, and the Queen in Aliens is smaller, perhaps the Aliens evolved in that time period so that the Queens will still be very effective at laying eggs but require less food to do so. Since the queen's only job is to lay eggs, that would make sense. However, the decreased gestation period in AVP seems to contradict that...there's no actual benefit for increased gestation period in the Alien movies. However, in any case, that means I'm doing Anderson's scriptwriting for him, which I shouldn't have to do to figure out why something is a certain way. I'm not about to give him that much credit with everything else he screwed up. I've never heard about anything that small used to breed an alien, but take a look at the Queen in Aliens--does she seem to have ANY visible rabbit traits to you?

..and what, exactly, is wrong with Event Horizon? Seriously, he does sci-fi, were you expecting Othello? Because all sci-fi is braindead, SFX-laden, illogical tripe, correct? Anderson should only be directing films when he's got a strong script--i.e. written by somebody with screenwriting talent--or maybe he should just stick to doing music videos or something in that vein. Probably the Queen would need to be almost fully mature to lay eggs in the first place, so while a minor discrepency is one thing--this is a huge one.

If they did that, then they'd have to do a button for George Sr. that says "Don't puke on the Japanese Prime Minister" and one for Clinton that says "Don't fuck the intern." You lose 1 million points for each entirety-too-played out joke, plus you lose a turn since you just replied to and tacked onto another person's joke. I'm assuming in this game you go from city to city telling everyone what the want to hear if you're running for president, but if you're the incumbent you make promises that you'll eliminate the terror threat, wipe out the deficit, keep taxes low, create 3 million new jobs per week, save the spotted owl, reverse global warming, create new alternate fuel sources, don't say how and continue to do things just as you've been doing.

Yeah, nothing worthwhile to contribute... Kefka being beat is just a reassertion of the fact that Final Fantasy didn't actually get *good* until Final Fantasy VII, you fool.

In my opinion, yes. Visually it (A:R) is far more interesting compared to the dark, confusing scenes and sets of AVP. And while it is stupid, I'll take cheesy and stupid over boring and stupid any day of the week. The action scenes were way better, despite some of them being less realistic than the AVP ones. Plus, A:R has Ron Perlman and Sigourney Weaver. AVP has ONE competent Predator fighter, and Ripley-Lite. Obviously, A:R delivers far better with gore, too. However, keep in mind I'm a MiSTie and a B-movie fan. So to me, at least A:R delivers entertainment even if a good bit of it is unintentional. AVP doesn't have that going for it. Plus, AVP blew the chance to have swimming Aliens. A:R has swimming Aliens. AVP doesn't. Winner: Alien - Resurrection I liked Mortal Kombat! Seriously, I think that's the very best possible movie you could have made out of the game. Solid plot (even if a cliche one), some good fight scenes, great scenery, fit in the most important characters, Raiden and Tsung's characters were nailed down perfectly, well-shot, decent effects, didn't take you out of the movie because the humans mostly stuck to realistic moves, and GORO!! My favorite PWTFEA movie by far. Plus, Annihilation was so laughably terrible that I can't see how you could diss MK that much. (MKA was done by a different director. It'd be worthy of a MiSTing.)

Imagine body armor being involved, and remember that the right sort of Batarang is analagous to Pred's razor discs. BTW, AVP is, to me, officially the worst Alien or Predator movie of all time. "but yea, I actually liked the movie and thought the 'two characters' aligning was pretty...neat." Yeah. Even if I didn't really dig *that* character, it's still neat to see. There were some things in it I liked, just not enough to make me recommend the movie.

Anyone else notice that the Predator weapons are sometimes resistant to the Alien acid-blood--and sometimes not? Weren't there a few more adult Aliens than there could be possible, with only the small number of humans, and ONE Predator Alien? There can only be as many adult Aliens as there are hosts (aside from the Queen, which already full grown).

My friend and I didn't actually *pay* to see it. Managed to score the Predator Special Edition for $14.99, which was a steal practically anyway, plus the free pass. THAT would have been a spoiler. Glad they didn't put a blatant spoiler like that in the trailer. Although that seems to indicate these Predators apparently don't really always carefully select how many Aliens they want to hunt. Oh, another gripe about that--didn't that scene seem to only wipe out the living things, rather than being the more conventional explosive used all the time by Predators, and then in the ending...the more conventional explosive is used. Hmm.
