Do Kidman and London have personalities that they like keep hidden? Kidman: No. London: Inconclusive. "Give it a few weeks." I wouldn't rule it out that they'll go a more serious route in a bit...but it was re-sparked by Angle inexplicably dressing up as El Gran...then geting unmasked... So, not looking good so far. At least Teddy Long, while being a face GM, is so far not really playing favorites too much.

I agree with AS. The Mania feud ruled even if the match was kinda weak. Why they decided to go back to stupid comedy I have no idea.

Eh...it isn't that bad: "Biggest heat: 2. John Bradshaw Layfield" Hey, he's a bigger heel than Benoit is a face, and HHH wrestled on Heat before too, so I wouldn't read too much into it. Why the **** is Spike the Cruiserweight Champion?!?!

It's been done. Gameplay was good. To me, that counts more than anything. Besides, it's a MGS1 "simulation," just way more talky and pretentious. So it's only a mild disappointment to me. I always set my expectations low automatically when the hype machines really get rolling. Granted, I'd take Snake over Raiden, Mei Ling over Rose, and certainly Meryl over Emma anytime, but those parts in between cutscenes and codec conversations were top notch. It's a good game in a lot of ways. I still really, really, really hate it for other reasons, though. I'd like to add Luigi's Mansion to the list. Very, very weak for a debut game, especially since the N64 was christened with Mario 64. Well, the characters don't look like creepy Precious Moments figurines anymore... Too bad that's the only actual improvement I've heard about.

The OAO Raw Thread - 7/26/04 - 60 Minute Iron Man

Except for all those Raws he was main eventing hour 1, or wasn't on the show barely at all. Yeah, "differently." That's a good way to put it. Benoit does really well on Pay Per View...but on Raw he's practically a non-entity. The booking is really schizo with him. -
Hmph--no quarter hour breakdown. Lame. Still, I'm absolutely shocked the show didn't freakin' tank in a huge way.
-
I hope 2 is crap so I don't have to force myself go back and play the rest of 1.. heh. Previews of the Japanese version seem to indicate it is worse.

I feel Gears sucked hard, but it was still sooo much better (well, around half the game at least) than Saga it hurts even more. Oh, don't get too excited about Part II.... FF8 I agree on. FFVII pretty much paved the way Square was going to be going. Bushido Blade 2 comes to mind as well. Okay...you've created one of the coolest, most innovative fighters in years. So, how do you follow it up? By screwing it up completely, of course! Another one only I cared about--Fighting Force 2. It could have been the Streets of Rage 2 for the new generation, but instead they changed everything. I've noticed that, agree or disagree, many of the disappointments are sequels that changed the gameplay almost completely and for the worse.

DKC, Dino Crisis 2, and yes even FF3 I'll admit to really liking. No, you people seem to not know what "disappointing" truly is. All were "easy but fun" as far as I'm concerned. I actually feel DC2 was a vastly superior game to Resident Dino. Just so much more fun to play for me. As for Batman: Dark Tomorrow...what the hell did you expect? Kemco made it. Awesome box art, though, just like on Man of Steel. Anyway, just going to throw out a few of my personal ones... Knuckles' Chaotix: going by the Crackers ROMs, supposedly this was a looong time in coming, and could have been the best 32X game out, and been the 32X's answer to Sonic CD. Nope, didn't happen. It's a game so heavily encumbered by its gimmick it is practically unplayable. Of course, you can just pick up your partner and basically run to the exit., but then the other flaws--lack of actual enemies in the game and mediocre-at-best level design--become even more apparent. Cool special stages though. Driver 3 and Malice--games that would have been disappointing if they'd come out when they were supposed to. Of course, who needs to be putting out good games and on time when (as in the case of Driver 3) you can buy a good review. Bujingai looks to be in a similar situation as the above. Early reviews seem to put Crimson Tears as barely average to bad. It saddens me since I really liked Tobal and was expecting Dream Factory to deliver with this one. *sigh* I'd put Red Dead Revolver as a mild disappointment--especially if you have a PS2 only.

Yeah, Batista and Orton might not get the TV time they need... Wait, they will of course. But Tomko...Cade... Maybe with Shelton you have a point, but surely WWE isn't going to let him go to waste. However, Raw is largely about the established talents and Evolution. I honestly don't mind him if he's going to be doing something entertaining, but what can he do to keep from getting stale? It isn't like he's Goldust, you know.

While HHH and Eugene is, quite simply, the single most built-up match right now, I really don't think so. However, stranger things have happened. Kurt and Eddie I don't think so because Angle's going to be wrestling his first big match since coming back and Eddie's coming off an injury. Angle hinted a slower-paced match may be in order here. Also, it doesn't involve the title and WWE may not opt to have him main event since his title reign was "bombing." I agree, but mainly on the latter point and not the former. Remember, Vince *really likes* JBL. After following Angle/Eddy, Eugene/HHH, and Taker/JBL, I don't think WWE would put them out there. Of course, we've seen some odd card arrangements, like a women's match 2nd from the top of the card, so some creative match arrangements may keep the crowd from being burnt out or dying if they're smart about it. == EDIT: I completely forgot Slam was in Toronto. While you'd *think* the crowd might be hot for Benoit...well, Toronto isn't most Canadian cities, so I have no idea. == Truthfully, they'll have to probably evaluate the crowd reactions up until then to see just what they want to have main event, so I guess it's a bit premature to guess right now. Still, Brock was heatless going into his match with the Rock two years ago, but no one really expected he'd get that reaction.
-
I'd say JBL vs. Taker closes the show. Taker's several times the star Benoit or Orton are combined. Plus, I'm pretty sure it will "send the crowd home happy." If Taker doesn't win the title he'll probably at least beat the crap out of JBL post-match. Despite looking like a good card wrestling-wise, I'd have to say as far as buyrate-grabbing matches this is one of the weakest Summerslams I've ever seen.

How worse can a film get than Baby Geniuses?

Straight to video....right? -
Typically pre-PPV Heats have one match. Because they fill the rest of the time with hype video packages. Apparently lots of people have their minds made up to order the PPV during Heat.

WWE: The Sharpshooter was invented by the Rock, dumbass! They ALWAYS say "Shades of the Great Bret Hart" when The Rock does it. Last week they seemed to be pissing on Bret, which is why I brought it up. We know all about Revisionist History. -

This might make people realize...Benoit is in fact, not the most over man on RAW. No matter how good of a wrestler he is. And it isn't just Pittsburg. On RAW or SD in my opinion but I still think he is a better champion than JBL. At least, watching during a regular show, you can tell JBL is the champion. It's hard to tell Benoit is. -

Not really. It's smart. Especially since it's coming from the heel...it makes a hell of a lot of sense. It makes sense, but its still lame. -
