That may be part of it, yeah. Where's Wily, Light, Rush, etc.? Oh, note that I edited the above post with more info on the Battle Networks.

I played the first Battle Network. Really liked it, although I never got around the finishing it. 2nd one I haven't played. Either the 3rd one or a game related to Battle Network has AUTOMATIC battles, so I'd stay clear of it. Despite my dislike of RPGs these days, it's hooked me more than most of the ones I've come across. The Battle Networks' battles take place in a 6x3 "board" of sorts. You can move around it freely in real time, firing your Mega Buster. When your attack bar is full you can use various "cards" to execute commands, mostly enemy attacks. They have different properties, like range, damage, whether or not they attack in a line, elements, etc. Robot Masters like Guts Man and Fire Man make appearances; they act as summon spells. Dunno about Legends, because it never seemed all that popular within the MM community...but both of the Legends games are Greatest Hits so that may not mean a thing. I'd like to see a new Legends game, although I like Tron Bonne more. Either one would be more welcome than another Mega Man platformer, the way they keep screwing those up (X6, X7).

There's no need to use it on the first section--I have that area down--basically keep to the right. However, the timer drains sooo fast in the second section I'm unable to get through it in time. I'll just have to wait until I'm through a couple of rooms of the second section to use it. X3 worse than X6? Ouch...that's a bit too harsh. X4 as your favorite--well, that explains why you defend it so much. Then again, I'm one of the few that likes X5 nearly as much as X. *shrug*

Hmph, well "Correct procedure": Castlevania: +1 Final Fantasy: -1

"The general feeling is that WWE needs to invest heavily in a better farm system since Ohio Valley Wrestling isn't getting the job done. " I thought Smackdown was part of the farm system? =P Well, they did have HWA but they cut that. "All it says is that McMahon doesn't have the ability to put both shows on an equal plain. He has to play favorites. If he gets over this, then the split could be great. Though he probably won't. " Yeah--it was funny a couple years ago when Vince would swear up and a down that Raw was the better show.

I believe I did Metal, Flash, Wood, Crash, Bubble, Air, and Heat so far...still gotta nail Quick Man. By the way, another thread reminded me...just how many blatant knockoffs of Mega Man were there around then? Off-hand I can think of: Darkwing Duck (yeah, Capcom made it too...) Krion Conquest Kid Dracula
-
Does Darkwing Duck really count? That game was basically Mega Man with gas... Wait, that didn't sound right... Surely Castlevania has to be up there, although Mario is tough to top. Oh, and CV had its own Mega Man knock-off with Kid Dracula.

Hmph, I've only seen her boobs. Although that being said the only movies she should be in are ones where she's nude and/or having sex. Why'd she get an Oscar again?

I hate the way the newer classic Mega Mans control, so I'm baised there. Odd little thing ChrisM researched-- Mega Man is 4 foot, 4 inches. He weighs 231 pounds. X is 5'3" and weighs 125 pounds. "And that explains why X can do the wall cling...cause he's not a little fat-ass like Classic is." -- CMW.

A *few* times later? Ooooooh... Anyway, here's my rankings of the X games.. Best |--- X, X5, X2, X4, X3, X6/X7 ---| Worst The original games aren't as clear cut for me, but 8 would definitely be closer to the worse end of the spectrum. Also, I freakin' love X5 and I don't care what anyone else thinks. You can charge it up? I actually only got it last night after beating Heat Man's stage, after getting the Item 2 from being Air Man's stage. In MM2 I still have to beat Quick Man's start. ARRRGH!! Hate those lasers.

Some one was surprised that a Michael Bay directed/Jerry Bruckheimer produced movie sucked?!??!?! Surely you had to, in the back of your mind, know better than that. "Van Helsing! I knew it wasn't going to be a 5 star movie or anything, but man was that movie teh suxx. waaaaay worse than i thought it was going to be..." Agreed. I had heard Mr. Mummy wasn't a great director, but never saw much of his stuff and felt the source materials and concept were strong enough to make a good movie... Holy crap that movie sucked. Oh, and Ebert is a stupid douchebag for giving it 3 stars. I swear the guy is going senile or something. There is no chance in hell of it being any good. Not only is Anderson directing, but he's doing the screen play. It takes place in Antarctica. If you've seen the ads you can tell from the tagline that the people making this have no freakin' idea what the Predators are about. "Whoever wins...we lose." NO! NO! NO! NO! Predators aren't mindless killing machines. They just crave combat with warriors of all races. If you're not armed, they won't even bother with you unless you were Mike Tyson and came up and punched one square in the face. They've been friends with some humans, even. If the Aliens would win, we'd be ****ed, but if the Predators win, they'll probably either leave, or head to the Middle East or something. However, they don't want to wipe out the human race or turn them into breeding colonies.

Best part about the Metal Blade-- 8-way attacking!! Plus it's a big projectile that's fast as hell. Oddly, it seems only a bit more powerful than a regular weapon against plain ol' run-of-the-mill enemies... Then it's a weakness for 3 or so bosses. WTF?! Bubble Lead is good too. Anyway, yeah, I like the aspect of MM2 where the weapons actually have uses other than getting a hidden item or just fighting a boss. Although they never quite struck a perfect balance between that and keeping weapons from being too powerful.

TORNADO TONION?!?! Hooboy...they couldn't even come up with a cool name. Well, besides the elementals, the same could sometimes be said of almost all Mega Man games. Although that reminds me that I guess *knew* that Split Mushroom would be weak against lightning in X4. Mmm...fried mushroom. Can't wait for X8, with Proton Pizza and Supreme Sardine. Bring in some Metal Shark Player fin soup, too. That is something we all play Mega Man games for. What a tragedy! *I* Anyway, it turns out the reason people probably prefer 2/3 over the later games is that the boss weapons are more useful for the levels. For instance, the Metal Blades can practically replace your normal weapon in MM2, and in 2/3 the weapons don't use up too much energy, and are more easily rechargable. However, the later games place less emphasis on the weapons, not more.

Too bad some of those E.U. countries will have Muslim majorities in the years to come... Also, since when is France is a Christian nation? Is France one of those countries, by the way, since I've been hearing about a significant number of them living in France facing some intense discrimination.

So either Paul's dead, and WWE's policy is a load of crap as usual.... Or WWE wants you to believe that you can have a ton of wet cement dropped on you without suffering any problems. Why didn't the FBI do a tamer version of this?

Meh--to me, the moral is "sometimes people succeed just by being lucky." I'd like to recommend Case Closed, a.k.a. Detective Conan. It's on Cartoon Network on weekday nights, betwen Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Cowboy Bebop I believe--anime crime drama series. However, I'm wondering when they're going to get back to the syndicate from the start of the series. Also, from what I've heard of the original intro theme, and the closing theme, those lyrics are *really* stupid. ("It was the first new century...in one hundred years..."? )

Pretty much every review I've seen says Legends vs. New Generation is better...
-
Onion? That's not too bad. Chop-Chop Master Onion ruled. Although I get the idea--since X6 has a dung beetle you know they're running out of ideas.

"Also here is another question that I am not sure of........When they say "jobs created" does that mean BRAND NEW JOBS, or are they just referring to people that were laid off/fired etc......going BACK TO WORK? Or both? " That probably depends on who is spinning the numbers and what they want the numbers to say. However, I think when people laid off go back to work it is counted.

What's the problem with the boss design? Same issues as X6, basically? As in, lousy looking bosses that die quickly? You'd think Capcom would know how to make good Mega Man games consistantly by now. As for 7, well, it was a problem back in 1995 when no one bought the thing. I can sort of understand that... Zero goes through the game like water through a first-time Mexican tourist. So naturally Capcom slowed him down and made him suck by X6, instead of amping the game itself up to keep pace.

oooh yeah. I saw it at a Canadian Blockbuster, but felt it completely unnecessary to pick up since I don't like SF1 and I don't like playing PC games anyway. http://half.ebay.com/cat/buy/prod.cgi?cpid...81&meta_id=null If he's gotta have it... Considering the success rate of 2D to 3D transitioned fighters, I'm not surprised. Oh well, no ultraviolent 80-hit tap-tap combos performed to horrid disco-techno-pop...for now. There's a sequel to the Midway Arcade Treasures compilation on the way, with stuff like Total Carnage, Narc, MKII, and so on. The old thread probably is gone, though. The PS2 and GC Mega Man Anniversary Collections are out, but the GBA one is on the way with the Mega Man 1-5 GB games. I don't know if they're any good and the original carts run 15 bucks + a pop without the boxes or anything.

There are plenty of cosplay opportunities for the chunkier types that would be acceptable. For example: Mario Kirby Jigglypuff Wally Tusket Pac-Man Dr. Robotnik Hell, you could be any number of great characters. Rep-ree-zent!

Incidentally, what are the failed new ideas? As far as X games go, I think it is strictly middle-of-the-road. X1, X2, and X5 I all find preferable to it. It is the best *looking* out of any of the 2D X games, at least. Anyanka logic-- Premises: Capcom tries innovation. They screw up. Conclusion: Capcom should NEVER innovate again! Can't argue with that, I suppose. The response to jumps for X has a slight lag due to the extra animation. Enemies in the X games mostly are slightly slower than their classic counterparts. As mentioned, classic Mega Man has a smaller sprite so he has more room to see ahead. I just like the "feel" and the way classic responds better. Zero's blazingly fast, but even in the games where X and Zero are faster, the games tend to have slower enemies. Bosses seem slower in the X games, although you'll have some speedy suckers once in a while. Mega Man 7 and 8 are the absolute worst in that regard. They're slower then either classic or X games. Capcom tried to update them graphically and throw in upgrades to try to put it on par with the X games as far as gameplay variety, but they didn't give classic Mega Man any new basic moves to replace wall-clinging, even though sliding can substitute for some of the functions of dashing (well, some of the classic games don't let you slide-->jump, but some of them do). You likely disagree with me about the X games, but certainly you can see that issue with MM7 and MM8.
-
Take out X4 and I'd say you make a good argument. I guess that it must have been tricky developing levels that would work well with X and Zero hence it being so simple to complete. However, the classic games have that faster, quicker feel that I prefer over the X games. So you can do more in the X games, but it's generally more sluggish. Plus, it's almost pitiful how little the X series has actually evolved beyond the SNES days. You'd think by now Sigma would be dead, the weapons wouldn't be so tied to managing weapons power, and the initial stages would be something like 30% of the game instead of 60-70%
-
Wow, way to completely miss the point. I simply noted that I felt it was harder than what I played of Zero, and not because of well-planned levels that were an enjoyable challenge to complete, but because of really lousy level design. I didn't whine about it like you're insinuating I am. I beat basically all the Mavericks, got Zero, got a bunch of upgrades, but I hated the game. I don't think it is fun, and I feel the game sucks. End of story. The whole product is so obviously shoddy I don't see how anyone can dismiss it as an acceptable game, especially when the game graphically, musically, and presentation-wise is absolutely terrible compared to X4 and X5. Capcom just didn't care about the game at all. That's not being "being like the X series," that's called "trying desperately to keep pace with the times." They failed because the actual gameplay failed to replicate the "classic" games and acceptably update them, and also they lacked the movement enhancements of X. EDIT: 6 would fit in, but 7 and 8 tinkered with the entire feel of the classic series, if that makes any sense. EDIT: I screwed up there--anyway, I think it takes a hell of a lot more than dashing and wall-clinging to make a series better. Most of the X series didn't really add anything or change much to make it leaps and bounds greater than the older games. Plus I think that 7 and 8 are worse than any of the X games save for X6, but dashing and wall-clinging weren't why.
