  1. Move this to another folder. Austin isn't in WWE (thank God).
  2. Yeah, I loved the basic concept about it. Helsing's design, costume, look, etc were all great. The concept of a revamped monster bounty hunter version of Van Helsing is gold if you do it right. I was very disappointed that this version seemed to be lacking a lot of the intellectual edge of Abe, though. Obviously Gabe was no dummy, but pretty much an all-action guy. With smarter writing, it could have had enough action to satisfy the masses while retaining an intelligent edge that could have done the classics justice to satisfy the horror fans. However, too many big stupid action movie cliches and CGI razzle dazzle I think the film doesn't really lend itself well to MiSTing, though. Note that MST3K didn't do too many action movies, except for ones where the heroes are guys like Rowsdower, Mitchell, or Nick (Time Chasers). When the Catholic Q is getting Helsing's gimmicks together, my friend got in a good line... "Now, we're going to cut off your hand and graft one with a face on it. It could come in handy. Is that okay?"
  3. This is such a beautiful story, I simply had to share. Having not played a single entry in this franchise and knowing Acclaim well, I can only conjecture that this franchise was composed of brainless, poorly-programmed, fetid pieces of unplayable pablum rushed out to Wal-Marts around the country for a quick buck. However, it's comforting to know that greed is a powerful force that can sometimes break the unholiest of alliances. I'm somewhat disappointed at the paltry sum MK+A are seeking, but oh well.

I doubt it was better than the first MK movie. I remember that Haku powerbomb somebody onto concrete once, though. I believe WCW would have their wrestlers guest star now and then on it.

    Day of the Dead SEQUEL...

Dusk of the Dead would be a better title, however this reminds me of something interesting from homepageofthedead.com. "As mentioned in 'The Filming' section, the film which was made in 1985 was not the original version which George Romero intended to produce. Instead, due to a disagreement with the film company, it was a some what reduced version. Although some of the characters from this original script can be found in the final film, very little else remains as the two differ radically. A lot of effort has gone into this project to ensure that it not only gives the reader the chance of enjoying George Romero's stunning original concept for the Day of the Dead, but it also does so in a user-friendly manner that also presents the script in a format as true to the original's as possible, even down to the font in which it was printed. Most importantly it allows you, the reader, to see 'what should of been !'" Maybe this one is based on Romero's original script.
  7. "No idea why Mr. Hyde was the Incredible Hulk either. But whatever." He thought he was the Hunchback of Notre Dame, too. Granted, the Hulk character has its roots in the Jekyl/Hyde story, but Hyde has always been rather normal sized (I think in the original story he's actually smaller than Jekyl) and should have been able to pass for a normal person if he was covered up on the street. Although that's a minor gripe. The opening of the movie was so awesome...then it was letdown from there on.

    Planning ahead...

Eddie, Rey, Chavo, Noble, London in various combinations.
  9. Roxburgh is in this? Ah....I thought Drac looked familiar from the commercials. Anyone remember his shitty turn as Sherlock Holmes in the BBC production of "The Hound of the Baskervilles" a couple years back? Although I must be fair, that did have a rather bitching performance by Richard Grant. Yup, Richard Roxburgh, who was also in, ironically, the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen last year.

    The E3 2004 Thread

And this is why we have such a dearth of creativity in the video game industry. That and the fact that this list is so freakin' heavy on sequels.
  14. Mindless action flick loaded with cliches, more lucky breaks and improbable saves than I really wanted or hoped for. Indeed, there was too much swinging on ropes. The CGI beasts I could have really done without. After all the damage Anna took throughout the course of the movie, that was a hella lame death scene. So, Dracula's kids are born dead and need zapped to be brought to life? The hell?! When Dracula dies, all his kids die? Double the hell?!! Dracula's invincible except against werewolves...but he keeps werewolves around to do odd jobs for him...but in case one got enough guts he keeps an anti-werewolf serum around so he can cure any werewolf that rises up against him and tries to kill him. Triple the hell?!? (I don't know who created the serum, why it would be placed somewhere where it would be useless if one of those werewolves attacked, or why Drac would let anyone of his underlings know he had this weakness. But, there you go.) So, just what had Frankenstein's monster been feeding on? It seemed like farm animals, but the Transylvanian residents didn't notice all of them disappearing? Seems he'd eat a lot. How did Drac and crew figure out how to do experiments similar to Frankenstein? Why is Frankenstein's castle RIGHT THERE anyway? Why was he so eager to spill his plans and then let Frankenstein die if he wasn't sure he had the knowledge he wanted? Why is apparently a human or the monster needed to be a middleman to be zapped while trying to bring his kids to life? So, what the hell is Helsing that he's able to live hundreds of years? They hint at the "left hand of God" and call him "Gabriel," but that is still rather vague. He seems to be human and mortal, though. Jackman and Beckinsdale were pretty decent in their roles, working as best they could with the material. Roxburgh chewed the scenery as you'd expect from a Dracula, but neither he or his women really had the air of your typical noble-blood vampire, and he didn't even really look the part. The VH version of Frankenstein's monster also looked damn cool. It's quite a letdown to see your favorite horror movie icons reduced to be playing cameos in a trumped-up action movie. There was enough material to make for several effective movies, but they were all crammed into one and didn't really all connect together well.

    Disney blocks "Fahrenheit 9/11"

Neither do you. Yes I do, thank you. Disney not wanting to distribute Mikey film is not censorship. Now if G.W. HITLER would forbid a Mikey film to be broadcast in America because it says naughty things about hime, then I would be willing to use the "c" word. I think "censorship" in its technical meaning refers to altered or removed content. Not allowing the film to be released at all would be another term, I believe. Regardless, accusing Disney of "censorship" and infringing on freedom of speech has as much merit as a film distribution company that wouldn't want to distribute The Passion as "infringing on freedom of religion." Companies within a free market are free to use their own ideals or objections to content to guide their business decisions if they see fit. Plus, Moore and his lawyer knew this might happen in advance, so fuck 'em.

Stephanie McMahon directly made the call...

Yeah, because everyone saw him as a lowly jobber up until now. Yeah, because everyone saw Nunzio and Johnny Stamboli as two stars on the cusp of stardom. So, because WWE isn't really doing much with them, it's perfectly okay to do another superfluous job to Taker?

Stephanie McMahon directly made the call...

Gee, because that's NEVER been done before. Every third guest columnist at 411mania does that act. It's just basically a soapbox to brag about how much you marked out over certain things, and most of the time to yell or complain about 'smarks'. Not exactly trailblazing stuff here. Plus, since Raw has actually been, you know, GOOD! Guess what? MOST OF US AREN'T BITCHING ABOUT IT!! Imagine, when WWE is putting out a quality product and we compliment it. DAMN US CYNICAL SMARK BASTARDS!!!

First image from Mortal Kombat Deception!

Yeah, but how the hell would Kitana know, anyway? *shrugs* Means nothing to me. Sindel was mighty hot (better dead and brainwashed, though), and Kahn loses some menace when you can see his face and when his mask sucks. I've seen a realistic looking skull-mask used in the MKII print ads and so forth. Why not use that? Don't really like Buffy. I'll never forgive Whedon for Alien: Resurrection. Although I'm glad they realized having Kahn walk around his digs in the mask would look stupid, any other time it should have been on. And he shouldn't have been so short. Ha! I probably would have noticed that if the tape hadn't been screwed up at that point. It was really grainy and flickery at that point for a few minutes, until a little after Sheeva bought the farm. I never liked Stryker, and I hated Kabal from when my cousins would use him all the freakin' time until I learned to whoop their asses good. So hearing both of them died made me happy--shame I didn't see it. Agreed. Gotta love how he turns into a flat image, folds up, and blinks out of existence. *I* However, when they first showed Kahn with him maskless, I had no idea who the hell either of them were. Kahn didn't speak much in that scene or really indicate who he was too much, so I thought it could have been some one from Noob's clan. Nah. MK, the first movie, was actually rather good. Basically, they took the story of the first MK game, crammed Kitana and a few other MKII characters into it (mainly to set up MKA I think), had a great cast, some good fight scenes and was rather well shot and directed. However, the CGI effects in it were lousy, and it had a horrible soundtrack. The same director is doing Aliens vs. Predator, so he'd damn sure better do well with that one. He did do Resident Evil, though... MKA has a horrible soundtrack too, but it doesn't have as good fight scenes (the repetitive slow-motion wire tricks, Sub Zero's Shining Wizard-ish attack on Scorp, etc). The writing, etc, are soooo bad. Since they kinda already did MKI and II with the first movie, basically it covers the entire MKIII story arc, even including the Trilogy characters. Surprisingly, Johnny Cage didn't rise from the dead, however just every other person who Kahn and his squads killed since the merging started are restored to life. Hm. Rayden goes from Christopher Lambert to a Sting look-alike. Ha! Oh, and the CGI effects...HAHAHAHA!!! What's with that gigantic CG beast that pops out out of that statue/whatever, gets beaten up by Jax, then retreats into a little whole. Hooboy.

    Disney blocks "Fahrenheit 9/11"

Neither do you. *snicker* Censorship is removing content from something. Disney doesn't want to release the film period. Big difference. Remember, New York is the same state that put Hillary in an elected office. Oh, please....

First image from Mortal Kombat Deception!

Since this is basically the OAO MK thread... I saw MK: Annihilation. Oh man, does it suck. It's so bad it is hilarious at points. For example: Lui Kang and Kitana travel in a prototype of Mr. Garrison's IT. Now, they could have traveled through a portal made by Raiden, but they needed to get Lui and Kitana in a tight space together so they could hug. Man, Talisa and Robin have such DYNAMITE chemistry. My other favorite bad part? This line: "Do not underestimate the power of the human spirit," delivered by Shinnok. I laughed off and on for about 10 straight minutes after that. They actually tried to make Animailities a plot point, by the way. It actually amounted to nothing in the grand scheme of things, though. The earth warriors went out of their way to get Nightwolf's help, but he just threw an ax into Lui's chest that made him have hallucinations and disappeared for the rest of the movie. Thanks a lot. Sheeva never actually gets to have a real fight with anyone. Jade actually made it in, and is wicked hot. Shao Kahn is normal height and spends most of the movie w/o his latex skull mask. He's more evil looking than Brian Glynn, fortunately, but of course he hams it up like a cartoon villian ("In 6 days you will all die!...In 6 days you will all bow to me!" Make up your mind, dude.) Are all Lin Kui ninjas in the same family named the same? After Subbie says that Lui killed his brother, but doesn't introduce himself, Kitana refers to him as Sub Zero, but he never said that was his name.

*Sigh* Look at all the freakin' sequels. What happened to originality in gaming? "Cowboy Bebop (PS2)" Hmm...just how does one make Bebop into a game, let alone a good one?
  23. Not only that, but probably is going to be Cruiser champ sometime soon, as well. Probably they pulled it out of the WWE Prop Closet for this poster.

"I mean really what better way to make Chavo a really hated heel then to have him beat the crap out of a women." In WWE-land couldn't that also make him a face?
  25. ONE "L"! Van HeLsing!! Unless it was leaked on the net or something, you couldn't have seen it yet anyway. I'm going with a friend tomorrow to see it.
