That is Battle Angel. It is pretty good but definately a little unhappy in the end. That would be it. Shame it wasn't longer. 8-Man After I enjoyed, never saw the original 8-Man. It's very good for less-recent anime. I saw the Escaflowne movie, which is a condensed version of the TV series. I'd recommend that as well. I'll likely check out the real series at some point. Oh, comments from a lurker friend: So there's another recommendation for those.

Maybe he *was* at some point, but sure as hell not now. If El Gran Luchador means that London will get used and maybe pushed, so be it.

Update On Future Of Steve Austin In The WWE
AndrewTS replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in The WWE Folder
No news is good news. Austin/Goldberg would lick balls once the match actually would get started. -
"Inter-gender matches always involve a lack of common sense. Think about it, why wouldn't the guy just tear off the flimsy top of the female; this would cause her to cover herself with her hands and leave herself completely defenseless. A stiff clothesline later and the female is out-cold. Of course, that might piss off the censors... " Plus, if the males can only wrestle the male (I don't know if that's mixed or IG), that kind of, you know, renders THE WHOLE DAMN POINT OF TAG MATCHES COMPLETELY MOOT!

It better not. The last thing Smackdown needs is another Billy Kidman push. Okay, you have a ton of talented cruisers. Some are great wrestlers but lack mic skills. One is a great ground-based wrestler (Noble), has good mic skills and has gotten over majorly when you give him half a chance. So, PUSH THE MOST FUCKING BORING ONE OUT OF ALL OF THEM, and the one who is such a lousy worker at this point (because of injuries, I guess) that he can't even pull off the few good moves that ever got him over? Hell no. He's so injury-prone he can't even be a bump machine like Spike. Job him out to the others and cut him loose when his contract is up.

Was it Star Wars? I remember that one being actually somewhat decent. They never made ESB, and ROTJ I don't remember too much about. It's the only one coming up on GameFAQs, so I believe that was it. No reviews are up for it, though. It was actually bought by my brother-in-law, but I was the one who ending it playing it more than him. While I wasn't as discriminating a gamer back then, I recall it being a blast to play and looking pretty darn good, to boot.

"I've always thought that a good way to get sympathy pops would be t have somebody who is over as a face get stuck with a heel controlling their actions and with Dinsmore he has both EB and Regal although if the WWE is smart they would have Regal stay tweener for a while" Normal the Lunatic w/ Theodore Long and the big gold key.

....well, at least there's the DEAN Workrate Report to look forward to.

If I recall correctly, one of the Game Gear games wasn't too shabby, either.

Bah. WWE should adopt the Best Brains, Inc. policy: if it's not commercially released by us, we'll look the other way. What this will do is cause WWE to sit on a ton of footage they aren't even going to use, except in small trickles, and people that really want to see it won't be able to. Maybe they'll charge the major traders copyright fees if they're going to sell tapes, which would result in the prices being jacked up, possibly. However, I doubt they'll even do that. Illegally duplicating stuff that WWE already released, that isn't good and I understand. If you have VHS tapes and put them on DVD, that's fine as long as you aren't selling them (you can legally do that anyway, for private use).

He's right about the second part, but the first was rather unnecessary. Gee, does anyone sense some excessive anger and bitterness overall in this?
-
He uses the Teardrop on Genesis Rumble, too. It's just called "Back Suplex" though. Say, when did he do that nifty dropkick where he levitates in the air spinning around and then dropkicks you out of the ring in real life? It was in the 16 bit Raw games.

That and taking some SD's best talent, HHH acting like a team player, and apparently booking more in advance.

The OAO Mystery Science Theater 3000 Thread
AndrewTS replied to DMann2003's topic in Television & Film
"Really, Kevin Pollak, you liked that?" Heheh, saw the Village of the Giants ep last week. "Yea though I walk in the valley of the shadow of the breast...." *after looking in first aid kit* "Clint drank all the alcohol." "I blinded me with science." "Chicks love big ducks, let's face it." "First base is a lot larger than I remember" "MOM?! NOOO!!" "What thin could a duck commit in a thingle lifetime?" Speaking of which, it seems Crow's taste often is questionable... DBZ, MiSTed! -
I've seen the first arc/some of the second arc. It's generally funny stuff, with a solid plot to boot. Amelia's father is like my favorite minor character in the series. "PACIFIST CRUSH! KINDNESS TO ALL CREATURES KICK!" Heheheh, I think he appeared briefly in NEXT, in fact. They made a LSoH anime, too? I really need to see the original Corman movie. Supposedly it was made on a bet that he could make it in 3 days or something like that.

Oh, if you don't mind loading times, you can get Final Fantasy Chronicles (Chrono Trigger and FFVI) and Final Fantasy Anthology (FFIV and V) for 20 bucks each, or less, as they're Greatest Hits titles. That'll be cheaper than tracking down the carts for CT, FFII, and FFIII, and you can't even get an American SNES version of FFV unless you emulate. Xenogears is also a GH title, too, BTW. I can't give it my recommendation, however.

"Andrew - my wife just picked up an SNES (so older games are probably better, at least for right now) and I'm thinking about buying one of the new systems, though I'm not sure which yet. Is there a particular platform which tends to get more of the kind of RPGs I'm looking for?" Well, the SNES is good for plenty of old school RPGs, although except for the most well-known ones, some of the gems are Japan-only. Final Fantasy II, III, Chrono Trigger--those are all goodies, for example. Although they don't have everything you're looking for. PS2 is probably the best way to go for sheer quantity, because you have the full PS2 RPG library as well as the PS1 library. Tales of Destiny (PS1) I know had the random battles, good battle system, and I believe had stat allocation and customization. The only problem is that one is rather rare. FFX maybe would be a good bet. Chrono Cross (PS1), despite the bad rap it gets for the story, has a complicated but good battle system (it just isn't to my liking), random battles, and customizable magic learning and stat upgrades. It may be just what you're looking for. Dark Cloud 2 and Kingdom Hearts are also good games, but a bit different than what you're looking for. You might enjoy them as well, though.

Wasn't really a flame. I simply informed one who was ignorant of proper internet forum procedeure. Actually, by doing a forum search she still wouldn't be able to tell if the games praised around here had everything she was looking for, so I think it's a valid topic.
-
It has random battles, but while the battle system is somewhat different from the norm I didn't really find it a big deal myself. I also don't recall much customization, but my memory is iffy about that. Also, I recommend dropping an e-mail to Alex Lucard at 411Games. He's got an extensive RPG knowledge and could probably steer you to exactly what you're looking for, although if you're not import-enabled some of his choices may be unavailable. The Demikids GBA games he recommended highly, but I don't know if they have all of those elements you're looking for.
-
Tales of Symphonia coming out on Gamecube looks to have a similar battle system to the previous games, and likely will have the random battles. I'm not sure about the rest of those elements. Which systems you have again? You looking for new games or can they be older?

You liked the tedious gameplay and 5,000 identical areas of Metroid II, but didn't like Fusion?! Granted, Fusion's end boss kinda sucked, but the only decent boss in II was the end boss. I wouldn't count on Super Metroid. Maybe (yuck) Metroid II, because Super Metroid sounds more like a GBA re-release than a "bonus" game.
-
The Olsons singing would be really disturbing, like the Mothra twins.
-
I don't think so.
-
Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon is coming to GBA. That's probably the one they're referring to. Atlus is actually the one bringing it over here. You can read more about it and check out screen shots in Nintendo Power (which also has a neat article on Tales of Symphonia, which also looks awesome and is coming to GC).

I'm ordering a tape of the specials from a friend, and it will have these on it: You may be thinking of the Academy of Robots Choice Awards or Little Golden Statue Preview Special. I'm not sure about Starship Troopers ever being on there, though.
