Apparently they're planning to go for a full-blown Cena face turn, and decided against showing that on TV.

Unless they're going to dump Gatorade on her while she wears a thin shirt, I don't care.

So, they're about 600 pounds each here?

Jones has charisma?

It looks like a bunch of stupid cutscenes. Is there any actual gameplay? Review please?

Ever since the day I bought the thing in August 2001, whenever I finish playing the system, I put it on standby, power it off with the back switch, then pull out the plug. Ever since my original Playstation conked out prematurely, I always unplug it and all my gaming machines after play. The system still draws power from the wall when you leave it plugged in, and it can cause it to wear out quicker, or so I've heard. So far, no real problems. So, there's over 2 years of it working fine, so I'd say your friend is wrong.

The One and Only Smackdown! HCTP Thread
AndrewTS replied to Insane Bump Machine's topic in Video Games
The game cheats it's ass off. I was in a Battle Royale and got pinned in 4 moves. My CAW has endurance six. My torso was in yellow and my head in orange, though, but even jagging on the buttons wouldn't let me kick out. I try and try, but it only takes a handful of moves before I'm eliminated. Shitty gameplay balance, and blatant hoss-favoritism. I'm not even talking about being countered, because that's not too much of a problem for me. However, the moves that get through are enough. I got pinned after Kane did the body blows in the corner, the clothesline, an elbow to counter a grapple, and his powerbomb. Still mostly in yellow. Got pinned and eliminated. Bullshit. -
You're assuming that anything Vince does has a point. And I'd be trying to give something decent for each "superstar" (can't call them wrestlers, you know). Lord knows that's better than putting basically every one of them in shitty storylines. Besides, Gerwitz WAS going to be showing favoritism to Hurricane, which was punished by--jobbing out Hurricane. So, no matter what there's going to be favoritism.

If you like Die Hard Arcade, then Dynamite Cop is the unlicensed sequel, basically. Also, yeah--usually we don't even get beat 'em ups anymore except as poorly-done subgames (Tekken Force, Revenge mode in WMXIX). When they do get their own stand alone game, developers try to add more to the gameplay. However, "RPG elements" have been added since the days of River City Ransom and Double Dragon (NES). It's not necessarily a bad thing if it doesn't undermine the basic aim of the game. By their basic nature, beat 'em ups are repetitive. However, I heard that Double Dragon Advance doesn't really tinker with the basic gameplay much, but gives you more levels, weapons, types of enemies, etc. I think adding gameplay modes is a good idea, instead of trying to change the basic game nature. For example, Duel/Battle modes are fine--especially if you do it like Guardian Heroes. To me, Guardian Heroes is the ideal version of a "next gen" beat 'em up (although in 3D). It seems making a good, unique beat 'em up is a very challenging task, and so developers try to give you more to do in them. No puzzles should be added IMO, and if you're trying to merge other genres, you should be doing it right.

No one said that would be. Is it really? Assuming that's what has been doing it, and not Cena, Eddy, actually building to a wrestling match on a PPV seriously, etc.; WWE's been basically doing variations of the various McMahon bullshit for 3 years now, trying to recapture that hot period, but the decline continued. Just now it seems to be producing results in TV ratings, so why didn't it sooner? Which is basically what I said in my previous post. The current McMahonamania angles may be drawing ratings, but its doing dick for buyrates and attendance. The NWO angle ushered in increases in ratings, buyrates, and attendance. Of course, we're assuming the aim is to actually use the talent that WWE has to draw money, when it's really just the McMahons' personal playground. Whatever the ratings may be is of little consequence, because either way we won't be seeing anything let up in that regard. They figure they've got a core audience that can't be driven away no matter what, so they'll just book for their own amusement.

Yeah. The original Fighting Force needed a little tightening up, a bit more variety in gameplay, and a bit more length. That's what I expected the second to be. So while Fighting Force probably hasn't aged well and may be only an "average" game, I still like it. I think that, due to the oversaturation in the 80's of the genre, the style of game has practically been eliminated from even being considered for newer games. Sure, there were attempts to revive it, but generally they sucked (The Bouncer). According to the classicgaming.com Streets of Rage page, there have been several attempts to get working on a SoR4, but little more than rumors. Still, there are some small glimmers. Plus, maybe if Double Dragon Advance sells well maybe Sega will consider it. I also understand what the makers of Fighting Force 2 were trying to do, and if there'd been good play control and tighter gameplay, we may have had something there, but it didn't turn out that way.

Why do I read about a lactating Nathan Jones?

So, who would be Really Really Big Man? You could look into his NIPPLES OF THE FUTURE to find out your fortune. -
A nominee that isn't as big as disappointment for most, but for me is: Fighting Force 2. I loved the first game. As a used title you can find pretty easily, and it's worth every penny to me. After mentioning and playing Streets of Rage 3, it reminded me of how Fighting Force was considered a spiritual successor of sorts to SoR. Yeah, it was far from perfect, but it played well, looked damn cool for its time, and was mucho fun (needed 4 player action, though!). So, when I got a Dreamcast and heard about Fighting Force 2, I rushed out to get it... Well, it barely resembled the first game other than a few characters. It attempted to merge several gameplay styles: the beat 'em up genre it was derived from, platforming/exploration, shooting, and so on. Nearly all of those were done very poorly. Plus, the unclear mission objectives meant you could spend tons of time wandering around, trying to figure out what to do. Thankfully, I ended up getting Dynamite Cop and that's a cool title itself, but is still quite different and isn't what a Fighting Force 2 should have been. *Expects backlash of Xenogears lovers yelling "Fighting Force sucked too!" *

Whaddya know--Anglesault was right again! AS: Do you predict a pink slip in Gowen's future?

isn't there a law against taste like that? Thank God, or we'd all be playing shitty movie "games." Note that the negative reviews aren't brainless l33t panning, but most of them are well thought out. Granted, there are scores that are way too low. I don't think XG deserves a terrible score. Above-average, yeah. However, I hate it. If every game mag calls it game of the year I won't change my opinion.

Your's was PURELY speculative, mine wasn't. My case was a remedy of the early PS's skipping problems, and worked for me and many others. You were spectulating on what CAUSED a problem with the PS2's, based on just your PS2's. For those who had the first versions of the Playstation, I was just stating n established fact, not a hypothesis. I (and many others) put the PS on its side--skipping stops/is reduced. Instantaneously confirmable. If you had a few more cases of friends having the same experience to back up your claim, than you'd have something there. Also, as I've said my PS2 has been on its side for 8 months with no major problems, and it's one of the older (although not oldest) versions of the system. So, there's a counterexample to your weak hypothesis.
-
The first versions of the PS1 had problems with the sound skipping after a while. When you set the system on its side that would stop it for a while. It was a rather well-known problem. I know from personal experience, and that's what I did and it worked. Just because yours conked out upright and hasn't yet conked out while you have it horizontal doesn't mean anything. It leaves out any number of factors.

Actually, Rock had 'em since his debut. I don't recall if it got worse or if he just was fed up with it. -
I dunno. It depends, but generally I would say the WWE would be even worse with the average smark in charge. The ones who would do exactly what Heymen did, yeah. However, a good number of us understand that feuds can't be driven by matches alone, that getting characters over and giving them the time and ability to get themselves over is very important. Also, a wrestler having great workrate isn't a reason by itself to push that person, and a person with poor workrate who makes up for it in other areas can be extremely valuable and maybe even become a huge draw. I'd personally remove all the non-wrestling talent from major angles. I'd pay special attention to continuity. Two guys had a major feud in WCW? We build on that. Two guys former tag team partners who had a bitter breakup? They just don't team up together in a 6-man tag and act like nothing happened. Fluffers like Dawn and Torrie? NEVER EVER will they be at the center of a feud. Their roles will be valets clapping at ringside or quick Tn'A matches. There would be some goofy characters, but intentionally. Not the supposedly serious angles that end up looking incredibly stupid. Heels would booked stronger overall--except for HHH, who would have to be booked to look more vulnerable.

Gee, that's ironclad proof there! Actually, some PS1 problems were solved (temporarily) by setting the system on its side. I've had my system in both positions, and currently I've had it on its side for...8 months or more? Something like that. No major problems. Just some disc read errors that have been solved by cleaning the disc/lens.

Last I checked Democracy was all about listening to those average Joes and what they want. Last I checked the U.S. was a republic, which means that we elect officials to act in the best interests of the country and the citizens. There are no countries that are "democracies" in the strictest sense. You and I have zero direct political power. It's like if you might have a kid that WANTS to eat candy all day instead of from the various food groups, but you would likely act in his best interests and prevent that. As it's been said before, Joe Six-Pack is an idiot who knows nothing about foreign policy or what is best for our country.

Supposedly? She really did. It's on tape. 8 minutes? Not these days. And...VOTE REPUBLICAN NO MATTER WHAT!!

Maybe Nash thought he meant best crackhead/drunk to never hold a major championship--oh wait, Roberts has Hall beat. Surprised that Vince hasn't given in and re-signed Nash's drinking buddy.

So they are also shooting for the demographic that whacks off to mandrills? God help us all. Considering the way her face is painted up in the game, probably.
