  1. This Version Kane we haven't seen Undertaker. He's a lot better now than he was in 1998 as the super-powerful freak who survived being burned a alive. So now he's better off as the unmasked, weak freak who survived being burned alive twice, crashed into a trailor, raped a corpse, and gets his ass kicked by Shane McMahon?

    RVD shoots..............again!!!

I still hate HBK although I like his wrestling, but to be honest he didn't really have much in the way of great challengers all the time, plus he was shit as a babyface and all the fans knew it. He didn't want to be heel so he'd just fake an injury and come back as a triumphant face, he figured.

    WWE Smackdown

These writers need to die a horrible, gruesome, painful death. Fuck you, WWE/Smackdown magazine. O_o ... ... ... My eye... I won't be able to sleep tonight, 'cause it isn't going to stop twitching anytime soon. Maybe after the weekend and my ever reading that is somehow mentally blocked. My reply or what I was replying to?

The One and Only Megaman X7 thread

I think it'll sell very well, with all the critical acclaim and the cool look. I don't think that means it will help 2D since it still is 2.5D itself (it's still polys). I think a great 2D game can still sell truckloads with the right marketing campaign. However, with no marketing (like the SNK titles likely will be), then only those familiar with them will likely buy. Wild Ambition still stings, eh? I haven't played SamSho64, but I haven't heard much about it either. I do agree it would have been better off to start from scratch rather than to make a sequel in 3D. Capcom even tested the waters with titles like Star Gladiator before going 3D, and even when they went 3D it wasn't their main focus (a different developer actually made the EX games, right?)--they kept making the 2D games. Speaking of 2D fighters, reminds me of a post I wanted to do about their gameplay I'll do as soon as I get time...

Funny you should mention that... Anyway I'm not going to argue, the MMZ games are hard, much much harder than then X series but not in a good way. You have a pathetic number of lives and its very very tedious to get a high rank. Okay, I feel better now. MMZ1 was fun for a while...but when one of your first bosses uses a vice that can crush you to death instantly, it's clear to see that there's something a little odd going on. Plus to get all the cool items to make the game easier...you have to be good enough to earn them--so it's kinda moot. Since when are portable games expected to be harder than console titles? That makes no sense. I also thought you said the original SNES titles were harder than any of the X series? I have no idea when it is coming out, but it's supposed to be a remake of the original Metroid. Think of Metroid, but playing more like Super Metroid. The art style is more similar to Fusion, however. Also, don't forget about Metal Slug 3! Yet, there's a 3D King of Fighters coming (argh).

The One and Only Megaman X7 thread

I guess this topic deviated quickly... A lot of gamers who want more 2-D are often painted with the "close-minded, don't want to look forward" stereotype. Yet, all I want is to have some alternatives. GBA still gets 2-D, but what means is that 2-D has been ghettoized to portables, and when the PSP comes out (or if the N-Gage succeeds.... ), then that will be gone, too. However, I understand that 3D has its place. Yet must close to 100% of games on a console be 3D? Even about 20% of current new releases being 2D (on consoles, that is) I'd be happy with. 3D is a viable medium, but some 2D conventions don't work in 3D, just as 3D conventions don't work in 2D. Metroid Prime...great game, but I wouldn't exactly call it a Metroid game because it was a FPS that played very different from the original 2D platformers. At least Metroid Zero Mission is coming. It's not a NEW new game, but its new enough. God bless SNK for their upcoming Metal Slug 3/Advance and KOF 2000/2001 releases. Back somewhat on topic, there's still Mega Man Zero 2...but meh...there's a fine line between "difficult" and "irritatingly hard." The programmers didn't even try to shoot anywhere near said line. *cue post from Renegade talking about how he could beat MMZ2 blindfolded or something*

Just a Gamefaqs poster pointing out that PS2 owners shouldn't bash X-Box, X-Box shouldn't bash the Cube, Cube owners shouldn't bash the PS2 etc. Instead, we should all come together, and stand united to hate that piece of shit the N-Gage.

  16. Batista: sometime soon.. Evolution needs 1 more member and then HHH can play the role of Captain Planet with the rest playing the role of the Planeteers.. Orton : Neverending Push! Batista: Numerous Failed Gimmicks! Flair: WHOOOOOOOOOOO! ???:??? HHH: By your powers combined, I am Captain Roid Rage! The Roideteers can battle the Mighty Morphin' Power Kanegers Test would fit in perfectly. "NOTHING GOING FOR ME BUT 'THE LOOK!'" ( / Anglesault )

90% of my games or more are used, easily. So that's just fine. However, I have a certain level of resentment for the bastards who lose/throw away boxes and instructions. Many of those places have some big fucking balls to ask exorbinant prices for a game that's hard to find, but the only one they have in stock is a scratched up disk with no instructions or inserts or anything. The closest Gamestop is 30 miles away. So while I go around the area and shop, it really isn't such a long time when I just looked around the same area and probably if I come back I'd have just driven 60 miles to make a return. However, I never heard this policy mentioned. EB is similar--they even blatantly ripped off Gamestop's discount card policy (10% off with a shitty propaganda mag). However, you have 14 days to take a game back...if you don't break the sticker they put on the casing of the game. Thankfully, most of them only think to put it on the ends, and not on the hinges of jewel cases for CDs. So you can open them and play the game, and if you put it back and snap the hinges back on, no one is the wiser. One EB a distance away from me knew to put stickers on the hinges, though. Eh...whatever. I wasn't coming back anyway. Then sometimes the prices on used stuff are jacked up. No.
  18. Ditto. The mere fact that there was McMahon vs. McMahon on it makes me glad I didn't buy it. I don't care if the spirits of Owen Hart and Curt Hennig possessed their bodies for 20 minutes and they put on a **** classic, I'd still refuse.

    RVD shoots..............again!!!

Logically, since HHH should have been controlling the match and calling the spots, he should have been able to lay out a match that would allow RVD to work with that match gameplan. If not, RVD should have sat down with HHH and a booker to help develop a loose plan for the match. Again, I'm not saying it's not partly Rob's fault, but HHH can't be completely exonerated, either. Either of those channels should have been employed if you know a worker like RVD is going to be challenging a worker whose style wouldn't work with RVD's well normally. Blame HHH, blame the bookers, blame RVD, blame WWE style--but not RVD alone. He was just working with his limited moveset he's been allowed to actually use and keep the crowd entertained between HHH's thrilling offense. Again, yeah, RVD's not a good worker. Hardly anyone is saying he is. Yet you're arguing a moot point anyway. The crowd was still cheering and chanting for RVD, and if he'd won they wouldn't bitch about his selling. They'd have popped, like they did with his fake win over Taker. Marks don't understand the "story" of the match anyway. If they'd think about it at all they'd probably consider that RVD's legs are just tough, while wimps like Bret hobble around like a cripple after having people pound on their knees a little. Maybe if the commentators on Raw actually sold the stories of regular matches instead of chatting it up about the stupid angles then maybe it would be different. Then let him use moves that aren't centered completely on that. RVD has used suplexes, some martial arts punches, the gorilla press, etc. However, you rarely or never see them on WWE TV anymore.

    RVD shoots..............again!!!

Take a look at Steiner/HHH to see a more extreme example--why the fuck didn't HHH take over on offense more when he saw the shitty, blown up, exhausted mess Steiner was? He saw Steiner had run out of moves. He should have taken over on offense, slapped on a rest hold and told Steiner what he had to do to try to salvage the mess. As for RVD/HHH--HHH didn't have to wrestle the whole match for RVD, just call the spots and suggest alternatives for RVD to do to work in the context of the match. RVD has other moves, but he's mostly sticking to the same ones because that's WWE style. When all your WWE-sanctioned moves are leg-based moves, you're gonna have to either do them anyway or think on your feet to come up with reasonable alternatives. Of course, HHH probably had no malicious intent. He's certainly secure about his position. He's unselfish and wouldn't do anything to jeopardize anyone else and make himself look good in the process. Everyone comes out of his feuds looking like a million bucks and looking strong even if (when) they lose. That's why the Raw main event scene is so rich with guys that HHH's feuds helped secure. Yup. He worked HBK's back mainly at Summerslam. The Armageddon match was pretty much shit. Plus they're buddies. HBK is a good worker anyway. He hasn't had a "good" match with Jericho since the quad tear, and Jericho is a great worker anyway himself. Mania match that was probably more carefully planned out, as I already said. Plus Booker's style isn't crippled without his kicks. Pre-quad-tear.

    RVD shoots..............again!!!

A Mania match that was probably carefully booked and laid out... versus a match that clearly wasn't. Think that HHH and someone like Patterson sat down and planned out how the match was going to be? If so and Rob ignored advice and did the contrary that he was asked, sure, there's a point. However, it seems like HHH did this on his own whim, probably springing it last minute and giving little preparation time. Besides, HHH is the heel and the vet. He controlled the match, and probably told Rob what moves to do, etc. Assuming that's true, it's HHH's fault the match blew because he went in with an agenda to expose Rob, not put on a good match. You could apply the same arguments to how Shamrock's push was botched, but Shamrock had even less ring presence and needed his hand held during matches. He was massively over as a face, though.
