The Rock's wrestling relatives outnumber the Dudleys. Don't have a good picture, though, sorry. Even with a good one, it would have to be a close up of the arm to really show anything.

I thought it was merely a 30-day no-compete clause, and that was only for WCW back when it was still around. Unless he's negotiated a new contract, he's fine since they wouldn't have had a chance to put a "can't go to NWA-TNA for X months" clause in his contract. NWA-TNA didn't even exist in 2001 when he was signed to WWF.

Yeah, what a fossil that Angle is.

WWE wanted a PPV-ish match on the SD the week of Unforgiven, because SD won't have a PPV until No Mercy next month.

The Rock..........................................
AndrewTS replied to OldSchoolWrestling's topic in The WWE Folder
Goldberg is a pretty lukewarm face. No kidding Rock would outshine him--again. As I stated I'm not bashing him, but I'd prefer either a) full time return or b) complete retirement. His short returns have only led to him helping Fuck Goldberg and getting a program with Stone Old (Brock was back to being heatless after Summerslam, so while the win helped make Brock a star, it wasn't the main factor in it). If he's going to help build a new star who doesn't suck, come on back. Otherwise, stay away. I don't want him to come back and put over Randy Orton. -
So, Raw 2 wins by default. Damn.

The Rock..........................................

Does he need to? He's already rich. -
Indeed. The same way he's apparently "peaked" in WWE is what probably will happen to Team Angle. They'll get better, but they'll get to the point where there is no way for them to improve under WWE style.

The Rock..........................................

I'd rather stay away then come back for a yearly appearance or two--and I like the Rock. Make movies, collect your money, retire while young, Rock. You earned it. -
And I think it's a shame you think that, since I usually value your opinion. And I think it's improper grammar to start sentences with "and" if you're not using it as a conjunction in a compound sentence. And Hogan aka Mr. Other Guy Who Saw Money in NATHAN JONES' opinion means jack shit to me. I wasn't expected a match as good as other people were, but think I see your point about it. There's only a certain level you can get to by only working in WWE. You'll only get so good and then you'll either stay at that skill level, or improve if new workers with different styles come in and work with you. Angle after a nice long Japan tour would be quite impressive.
-
On the other hand, I thought Hogan sucked before becoming a smark, and my opinion hasn't changed.

You can like a match and still see its flaws. That just allows you to appreciate the truly great matches more. I'm glad I was able to tune into SD and see that much wrestling, although I understand that the task Brock and Kurt had put a lot of pressure on them, plus they hadn't done a match like this before. Since we haven't been able to find two guys these days to have a truly classic, near-flawless Iron Man match to date, I chalk it up as a good try. Even their past matches are somewhat lacking because Brock and Angle have good matches together, but not classics. They aren't to that level, although they are leaps and bounds above almost all wrestlers at the same point in their careers. And when I do watch Raw, I shit on it WHILE I WATCH, and that even goes for the times when I'm not on the O&ORT to boot. Raw is just a horrible show. If you like it, bully for you, but most of us are going to disagree since Raw doesn't have the wrestling and doesn't even have the entertainment except for unintentional comedy. Let me explain--in a match you want to see, you're paying attention to the story...however, when parts of the story don't fit together, parts seem out of place or missing, and there's repetitions of the same action--I don't care if you're watching for the 1st or 300th time--you're going to notice it if you're the observant type.

Vince doesn't need reasons for anything he does.
-
Plus, the rant was late because of...a Def Leppard concert. What a wuss. He says the weaknesses (which he does mention) brings down the ratings "a lot."--to ****1/4?! Maybe he typoed and put an extra * in there.

I know Revenge mode sucks in WMXIX, but what are the single-player modes in the other two games like?
-
Crap, I was going to use the "Bret Hart coming in to lead the Invasion" joke but it's already been used 2 posts in. Taker can't grow his hair that long, and a wig would look stupid. Also, I don't think he intends on returning to the gimmick. Drop it. It isn't happening.
-
Yeah, only Gamefan really gave Yoshi's Island the love it deserved, but they also overrated the DKC games. Who the hell ever took GamePlayers magazine seriously? Although now that I come to think of it, that was considered *the* game for PS at the time. It even was as the center of the horrible Sofia Says compaign, which was slightly better than Polygon Man.
-
On another note, I hope to see Tazz's Keys to Victory a lot more often. Great idea, further making SD seem like a more legit, wrestling based show. Shame they didn't play much of a part in this match...
-
I'd largely agree with that, but I want to know why the fuck nobody goes for the bridge after the rolling Germans anymore. I'm guessing it's because of the neck surgeries and stuff, but that defeats the purpose of the rolling Germans to me. I'd only want to see the bridge after the rolling Germans if it got a pinfall--they had a perfect opportunity here, but didn't use it. If we saw some rolling Germans and then a KICK OUT deep into an Iron Man match, that would have pissed me off more.
-
I thought that was quite obvious, myself. The exception would be late in a match when the guy in the lead applies one and you can't afford to tap, natch.
-
No argument here about that. Good match, not great. It isn't exactly going to top my personal candidates, Eddy-Benoit (Vengeance) and Angle-Benoit (Rumble). "Is anybody else getting the feeling that we're eventually getting an Eddy-Chavo feud over the US Title? Just a thought. As much as I love this team, I'd rather see Eddy get a main event run first, but oh well." If they're going for a jealousy thing, I don't get it, because Chavo set up the match for them to get the tag title shot, and seems to be 100% behind Eddy. So if they turn him it would be completely out of left field. "Only a handful of problems with this one, most notably Angle refusing to take a countout when he could have earned one and Lesnar actually trying to get falls the final ten minutes when he should have had it on the deep freeze. And too much brawling. Why are two wrestlers with such incredible collegiate and/or Olympic backgrounds doing that much brawling over an hour? But I love the fact that it came down to what two athletes and what they were doing in the ring. No run-ins, no McMahons at ringside, just action (even with too much brawling). Slower than expected, so as far as Ironman Matches go, I'd put that above Bret-Shawn but below Rock-HHH." I'd agree mostly, but did it seem to you there was too much suplexing? Where was the mat goodness, that would have been able to make for great ways to add to the psychology, give the guys a rest, and build the story? Maybe the "heel Brock wants the title anyway he wants" story overshadowed and prevented that, but still can't help but feel it was a disappointment.
-
No, that's fine in my opinion. They probably opted to do so after using them in Ultimate Submission matches, which run 30 minutes. The weather might be a factor in determining the rating, though...
-
Disappointing--no real mat wrestling, too much brawling. I didn't mind the stalling and the storytelling, but once we got into the actual wrestling... SUPLEX! SUPLEX! SUPLEX!! Jeezus, it was like they came down with Steiner Syndrome circa Rumble '03. Good match, but not great. I thought Brock's leg selling was pretty consistent--especially for a monster like him. Yet the guys' offense were too limited. I can't help but groan when they resort to suplex-fests and continue to devalue the move.

It wasn't nearly as successful, and by the time 3 rolled around no one cared. It was a watered-down FFVI though. It didn't do anything gameplay-wise that hadn't been done already, except for the Materia system--which wasn't too groundbreaking since it was similar to the esper system FFVI used as well as the Rune system Suikoden used.
