Somewhat. What was lame about that and what's lame about this is that by the time the budget versions come out, retailers have already gone below the original MSRP and gotten close to or met that $30 budget release price. Granted, Gears probably is going to stay up there forever (Best Buy has it for 50 bucks which is the lowest I've seen out of major retailer), but most other games have seen a steady decrease in price. I could buy Dead Rising for 40 bucks now, or wait Lord knows how long for the Plat version, which by then the game will be $30 most places anyway. Or, I could go to the secondary market and get both Gears and Dead Rising for about 30ish each right now. I was loving it when top-tier console releases were coming out at 40 bucks. However, if this type of thing continues companies will suffer and it'll be Gamestop raking in all the profits. Bah. I guess what I'm getting at is that gaming is an expensive hobby and is getting even more expensive. So I probably deserve run over with the Obviousmobile. I'd wait until Wii gets Player's Choice releases before declaring that.

Anyone been able to score a copy? Nobody in my area seems to have it, and still waiting on my Amazon shipment. Nice little write-up on the game, with gameplay footage: http://www.destructoid.com/super-bargain-b...tar-31239.phtml So if you see it, buy it. Buy 2, they're cheap!

Saint's Row has gone Platinum. $30 for "budget" releases is sucky, though. The downside of next gen.

DC Comics announce three animated movies
AndrewTS replied to Kurt Angle Mark's topic in Television & Film
I wouldn't be surprised to see Steel in it, but his origin/backstory has already been done in Superman: TAS. Yet he's an established DCAU character that was in the original story too. -
DC Comics announce three animated movies

Apparently they are going to smash Death of/World Without a /Return of all in one movie. That's going to be a huge cluster of something... -
It is probably just to ensure Disaster stays exclusive. Plus I'm sure somebody likes Baiten Kaitos. 3D Pokemon RPG with 10 minute cutscenes, though? Please look forward to it.

He's better as an adviser. Kutaragi's an engineer, but as a PR guy he sucks. He's just too boring. He'll still have a job, though, so I shed no tears for him. There will be lots more ****canning to come at Sony, though.

I've been trying Opera too. So far it's working out very well.

http://kotaku.com/gaming/crackdown/new-cra...soon-255329.php Kind of late coming, but looks pretty cool. Plus the "Reset Gangs" option should be in as well.

AndrewTS Games: Crackdown, Rumble Roses XX, TMNT arcade. Does anyone here still play xbox1? And which games if so? Gears is on my list of played games from a rental, but I haven't bought it yet because I've been slammed with 300 bucks for car repairs, 100 bucks for new frames for my glasses, and I still need to shell out for student loan payments. My next 360 purchase will likely be Gears or Dead Rising, but I don't believe the latter supports online coop or anything like that.

That's exactly what it was. The "secrets" were on the site and you could read them without the book, but it was jumbled up in no apparent order, but you could go to the right section with a code in the book. So neither the guide nor the site was really a complete guide. I was on dial up then, as I suspect most folks were at the time. Doubly sucky. PlayOnline now is just FFXI stuff, and a FFIX Tetra Master guide. So the book is *completely* useless now--just go to GameFAQs. I don't normally buy game guides--I think with FFIX it was super cheap to get it extra, so that may have been why I got it. I've since sold it, though. Incidentally, the GameFAQs board for FFIX is still alive and kicking, so I maintain a sequel would have sold well.

Incandenza's Movies - DVDs - Television Thread
AndrewTS replied to EL BRUJ0's topic in No Holds Barred
I don't quite get how making the thread was supposed to resolve Inc's complaint. Mole at least got to spank his modkey, though. -
Yeah, and based on various player accounts, it was actually a solid game, too.

It's hella weak that the Core is still so...Core-y. Considering how much their memory units cost, they should throw a 512MB memory unit in the box, so folks can have the nice feature of saving their games.

Besides citing pre-FFVII games, there are still roguelikes that pop up now and then. Oh and X___g____ didn't have hours of CGI. Instead it had....the chair.... Xenosaga is another matter. Personally, I had a cup of tea with Fire Red and haven't gone back since, although I had fun during that time.

I liked the "Ring shaped planet" part the most. It's a tragedy no one brought THIS game over to the US for release. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Genl242_ZU8

My nearest Gamestop is having a sale--buy 2 get 1 on used original xbox games. I'm not sure if it's every store or not, so you may want to call. The aftermarket price for Panzer Dragoon Orta has gotten up to $25 or so, it appears. So nab 'em while you can.

luke-o: turn your damn 360 on and accept me!

Vivi has a fanbase, and lots of folks like FFIX cuz it is old skool style. (I might have even liked it if so much of the game's basic secrets weren't so arcane and the official guide wasn't that PlayOnline garbage.) The obvious answer is Final Fantasy II-2.
-
I'm not exactly following you. I don't think that Square could make a game with the Final Fantasy name on it that's so bad people won't buy it.
-
Not when they can make a crappy spinoff. Anyone who willingly buys Final Fantasy II again needs a swift kick in the family jewels. Oh, and... http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/23/final-fa...last-ten-years/ Oh joy Nintendo gets an exclusive on Crystal Chronicles?! Gee, thanks. However, if it uses DS to Wii connectivity similar to how FFCC on GC used GBA connectivity, it might be a hit this time, at least in Japan. That would be really lame, though.

Leopard has been delayed until October. (Perhaps not) coincidentally, it appears folks have figured out ways to run Mac OS X Tiger on PCs, apparently from reverse-engineering the Intel Mac builds. http://www.google.com/search?client=firefo...G=Google+Search

I was joking of course. I'm sure S-E wants graphics that are sort of like Advent Children but in real time. Wii can't do that. However, if they toned down the visuals it surely could do that and keep the pre-rendered video. A Final Fantasy-style RPG isn't usually going to be so complicated that the cpu has to be very advanced to calculate enemy a.i. and the area of the world you're visiting. However, something like Assassin's Creed, or a massive world like the Oblvion overworld--Wii isn't going to be able to handle it without immense sacrifices. Wii could do Gears of War (at least offline), but it would be *really ugly*. ....I mean, an ugly the creators weren't really going for.

On Square's part? Most definitely. I don't think you can really pigeonhole 360 gamers as ignint folks who just want to shoot things, or folks who have the system as just a "supplementary" console. Square should be able to see that if they put it on 360, people will buy it (i.e. Blue Dragon). Assuming the 360 can *handle* FFXIII, of course.
