My local store stopped carrying N64/PS1/DC stuff last year (shipped all their stock to "other stores"), but I was out of town today, and picked up a few games. For N64 I got Hybrid Heaven and Kirby. For PS1 I got Rhapsody, Bust a Move 99, Twisted Metal 2, and since it was only 45 cents--Uprising X (I honestly don't know what the hell it is even). And somebody slapped the wrong label on NES Classics Zelda (was labeled as Zelda 2), so I picked it up as well. Fortunately, I was being rung up by the token female-who-knows-nothing-about-games they recently hired, so she didn't notice. Yay. Except for Zelda, the rest was like 9 bucks total.

While it's encouraging to see a licensed game, it's discouraging to see a premium cost on it (odd how cheap a licensed arcade game is on XBLA, though).

I passed on it because there's *no new features at all*. In fact, they just tossed in waggle and removed the blood. Not even the PSP features are in. Weak. I've played through it 2x already on console. Odd import game that looks really fun: http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/2007/04/0...nd-awesomefied/ Sure, it's mini-game-ish, but it seems to work really well in context. IGN said, BTW, that Umbrella Chronicles isn't a "rail" shooter. It's a FPS (with free, FPSery movement), but linear.

I guess I'll give that a shot when my Live OneCare trial expires. I went with that after my Norton Internet Security expired, and it's holding up extremely well. I don't want to go back to that resource-hogging beast Norton, though. Ugh. EDIT: Avast! is just Antivirus I see. Do you use it in combination with the standard win firewall or something else?

Everybody is crap at the DS version.

Any good N64 stuff has been pillaged from my area. Goldeneye? F-Zero X? Hahah! Nowhere to be found. Is there actually a Gamestop in the country that has Dreamcast games worth a damn? Every one of them in my area was combed through over a year ago. Except for, you know, NFL 2K/NBA 2K. Or crap PC shovelware.

Yeah, at least as much as PS2 will allow. Tomb Raider Legend had great visuals even for the platform, although it's a shame there's no 360/PS3 version planned. This is moot, because it isn't going to suffer the ill effects of the original TR's engine. It's about solid platforming/action gameplay. This one should be much easier overall, but that's because of the drastically improved control. For anyone who hasn't played Tomb Raider Legend, the difference between it and the old games' control is ridiculous. It's like comparing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night's Alucard to his NES counterpart.

Maybe it isn't pairing right with the Wii. Try to hit the Home button to check the battery power level. If that doesn't work, take out the batteries and put them back it. If that doesn't work, cut the power from the Wii, unplug it, and remove your batteries. After a minute or so, plug the Wii back in, power it on, and put the batteries back in. Failing that, try new batteries. For some odd reason, my Wiimote seemed to have pairing issues when I'd rented Sonic/Secret Rings. But only when that game was in the Wii and had been played the last time. Hm. But I still got a good week or so more out of the batteries after that before needing to recharge, so I don't think it was the batteries. If you have two wiimotes or more, maybe you're not using the primary; try another.

Gamestop and EB are now selling KH2 for 20 bucks new. Other retailers haven't done that price yet as far as I can tell. The game reached Greatest Hits sales milestone (500,000+) and the release time milestone (9 mo. +) a while ago, but S-E haven't given it the GH treatment. In fact, as of the end of March it's been out a full year.

I'm cool with Konami's approach. Original games that make good use of the controls. I'm not too worried about the graphics because of it. I don't understand Elebits' level creator at all, though. doh

http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3158479 1up's Jeremy Parish has a new preview up for TRA. Also, some encouraging opinions from his personal site on the game: So, bullocks to the opinion that God of War 2 was the last great PS2 game (and I'd even argue on it being "great", but that's another thread); and it's only about a month-ish away!

If the only AAA-caliber titles on Wii turn out to be Nintendo games, I won't exactly be crying in my soda pop. However, it does appear to be true that developers aren't even reaching the max of the *Gamecube*s potential with their Wii games, let alone the additional power Wii offers (which, let's face it, isn't much, but it's there).

Resident Evil 4 is also coming to Wii, and will have the Ada missions. So if you don't own a previous version, then look for the GC visuals + the added PS2 content.

CAD will show the "Hidden" windows? Cool, I never tried that one. On our Macs at work, for some reason they rolled us back to Firefox 1.5 from 2. Nobody I talked to knows why exactly, but it wasn't a complete re-image, just that application. Odd. Although 2 was running far, far better on the macs than the PCs I've used. For the folks who report no issues--do you use pipelining as well? Maybe 2 doesn't like it very much.

The first title--sounds like a job for Corey Lazarus. I'll email a horror movie buff friend of mine on it, though.

http://www.oxm.co.uk/news/3rd_person/princ...assassins_creed Hm, maybe it's 360 exclusive...? (Remembers its Ubi) ...well, for now. I wish there was more info available on it. They should get Jordan Mechner onto this project to bring back the spark that the solid, but not quite spectacular, followups of Sands of Time had. A more recent tidbit: http://www.oxm.co.uk/articles/news/hardwar...ersia_confirmed Somewhat iffy on the source, though. Although it sounds like it might hit before Assassin's Creed, which seems surprising.

Acclaim This is all you *really* needed to say. Damn, that's messed up. Especially after how well the MK3 turned out for PSX (morph loads aside of course).

http://www.dsfanboy.com/2007/01/31/mortal-...ming-to-the-ds/ Translation: It'll be an existing game with extra crap thrown in it, or a compilation. I'll guess MK1-3 or Armageddon with touch-screen fatalities. EDIT: Not that they've actually made any "new" games in years. Armageddon is Deadly Alliance part 3.

http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/03/playstat...lunge-82-in-uk/ I guess the PS3 was just "a fad." (No, it doesn't really mean anything. Carry on).

Yes, the DS could display pre-rendered video. What of it?

While not actually PW related, Capcom is working on a stock trading game that's apparently going to be cut from a similar cloth, Stock Trader Instant: http://www.destructoid.com/now-you-too-can...er--30736.phtml Official (JP) site: http://www.capcom.co.jp/shun/main.html There's a a trailer up for the game (click the button that says NEW!). It apparently involves bishies, girls who look about 14, and chains. Okaaaaay...

I discussed it a little bit with Renegade on MSN. This is undoubtedly going to involve some truly awful singing, nobody will want to play bass, and getting the most of the title will be friggin' expensive because of the extra accessories involved, I'd presume. Plus, MTV acting in a producing capacity worries me. I'll hold any excitement off until a song set is released for public consumption. It's going to apparently come to all of the current-gen (360, PS3, Wii) systems, though, but what that really means is you better own a 360 or be able to hook up some people locally, because otherwise you're not going to get together multiplayer, because of the obvious PS3 and Wii complications for online play.

What's so bad about the PSX version? Isn't that the same as the Saturn, which is pretty good save for missing sound samples? Ok. I'll PM you if I have any luck.
-
Possibly. And there's a good chance it's wrong, too. You get the call when the corp *thinks* the store should have it.
