A British pound is about 2 US dollars (1.96 USD if you want to be anal about it). So if you think 599 USD sounds bad, imagine a PS3 for nearly $850. Granted, the wii's still about $360. The XB360 premium costs 280 GBP ($560ish) and the core costs 190 GBP ($380ish). If you're wondering what the 20GB PS3's price is...well, there is none.

The Turtles arcade game was broken in that same regard too. There's Don and then there's everyone else. I think almost *need* Don to beat a certain boss, in fact. Consider me not a fan of TMNT1 NES either. It's bad enough that everyone else is so second tier to Don. But aside from that, if he dies you're in a bad spot. Of course, nearly any game that operates the same way (you get a squad of guys with one life or so, and some of the team obviously flat out sucks) isn't my bag either. Xmen Genesis (the original), Contra Force, and the like, for instance.

Try saying that to a UKer's face, and you'll probably get punched in it. As noted in the article, yeah it's a success in the UK. I guess that the "rest" of Europe is just a bunch of cheap people just like us yanks.

It's a shame that Master of Disguise turned out to be, sadly, not awesome at all. Ah well. I actually own Virtual Boy Wario Land. I don't own a Virtual Boy, though, so I've never played it. It's just that I'm hanging on to it for ChrisMWaters. He's determined to play the game but couldn't find it, but I was able to snap it up at a pawnshop. Now I'm waiting for his deadbeat BUTT to get the system to play it on so he'll take it off my hands.

I've used it on 3, it crashed on all, and a few friends are having similar issues (both macs and pcs). I've stuck with it and accepted the updates since it switched over to 2--still isn't reliable for me.

http://www.joystiq.com/media/2007/03/targetdssale.jpg It appears that all DS games that are $29.99 and up are only $24 this week. "All" isn't specified, but when I went this morning FF3 and Super Princess Peach were all sold out.

Concerning Alex Kidd -- I've only really played Enchanted Castle. And I felt...pretty much nothing. The game just feels really, really old and uninteresting. Way more than even some mediocre NES games. It has decent visuals for the time, I suppose, but the levels seem kind of dull and the controls kind of suck, IMO. I just didn't really find any reason to continue playing it much. It's just kind of there. Does the level design / play mechanics take a sharp upswing later in the game? I *hate* the rock-paper-scissors crap, too.

I had heard it was opening April 6th. Ah well, no biggie. Is it going to be getting a wide release or no?
-
I don't know of any sites showing numbers yet on it. I'd assume the decision to go with a sequel or not probably has been made, but the box office will probably determine whether or not it goes to theaters.

Surely they should be able to resolve the supply issue soon. 360s were beginning to be readily available by this point, after all. Although nearly every single time I visit a Gamestop, typically at least one person comes up to the counter and asks for a Wii, is turned down, and given a vague estimate of when new ones will be in.

Why does it crash on Macs too? Idiot. How many times has it crashed on you as opposed to 1? Firefox 2 locks up when I have one or two windows open, no tabs open, and I'm just clicking it a link. It blows. The only problems I noticed with the original Firefox is that you open a lot of windows, sometimes a minimized window will apparently vanish--and you won't be able to see it again unless you close most of the other windows first. That isn't even really an issue if you use the tabs, though. And yeah, the Session Restore is nice, but it's a fix for a problem that nobody really had on Firefox 1 anyway.

VF2 Genesis is better than Tekken Advance. I think Wonder Boy 4 is the one everyone loves. I'll be glad to defer to anyone a bit more learned on the subject.

I've reverted back to 1.5. I think that the "restore session" feature may have been something new for firefox 2...but...with Firefox 1 I didn't really need to use it at all. Since upgrading, it's crashed on me over a dozen times, and half the time it COMPLETELY LOCKS UP my PC. Ctrl-Alt-Del won't even do a damn thing. So if you haven't upgraded yet--don't.

I rented TMNT for PS2, mainly because Ubi Montreal worked on it. It's...interesting. It's definitely rushed and unpolished, I'd say. It's strictly an A-to-B platformer with occasional fight scenes and collecting coins here and there. The fight engine is sadly primitive. The platforming can be pretty fun--Prince of Persia like wallrunning and pole-swinging for instance, but the level designs are pretty weak. The perspective is problematic, too. The view is zoomed WAAAAY out for most of the non-fighting scenes, which is fine near the beginning of the game, but frustrating when you're jumping from rooftop to rooftop at night in NY, trying to measure your jumps and determine what areas you can jump to and what you can't. The game is really short, too. I'd say it's a good rental, but not a keeper. On the other hand, the game on GBA is a well-done beat 'em up: http://www.gamespot.com/gba/action/tmntthemovie/review.html I might have to pick it up sometime soon and give it a shot.

Until I heard Sarah's voice come out of her mouth, I didn't know April was April.

I really enjoyed it. The writing wasn't exactly top notch, but I liked the action, the excellent voice cast, and the various subplots that came together well. The turtles' models themselves seemed rather odd next the humans--who honestly looked like slightly tweaked Incredibles designs. The movie didn't do such a hot job in that department. The turtles themselves far too often came off as just way too cartoonish, although it worked for the fights. The ending scenes were pretty much out-and-out fanservice...but under the circumstances, it's not only forgivable but welcomed. And Mako's excellent job as Splinter is yet another reason to miss him.

I will freely admit these are unsourced, and I welcome you to correct me or it if you can find something other than anecdotal evidence, but until near the very end when MS simply couldn't cut anymore, they seemed to me to be pretty much on an even keel in price. I'll plead ignorance if I'm wrong, though; the Xbox1 was never worth full MSRP, and the one I owned was used.

It did in February. http://kotaku.com/gaming/npd/february-npd-madness-244656.php

An established system tends to do better than a new one, especially when it has a much lower price and a stronger library. Oh, but you forgot to mention that... Wii is outselling PS3 (about double...) DS is outselling PS3 PSP is outselling PS3 PS2 is outselling PS3 and Game Boy Advance is outselling PS3... They have claimed the idea was to have a console with the longest life span--a "future proof" console, that is. It's not the craziest idea, as Dreamcast was prematurely doomed partly because of its choice in formats.
-
Not really a model that holds too true in the console market. Xbox never really reached that point despite being the stronger system. It suffered a slow start because of the PS2's big head start in user base and software...and it was competitive in price to the Playstation 2. By the way, the Blu Ray player argument is going become a weaker, instead of a stronger, determinant over time. DVD players dropped big time in price rather quickly, and stand-alones soon became a better value for non-gamers. It will be interesting to see how much the players themselves and the PS3 deviate in price by the end of this year. I'm unaware of this "magic $500 mark" you speak of, though. I know that *somewhere* below that is where Sony wants to be eventually, but in console gaming the mass-market adoption of a console tend to not really begin until $200 or less. Where is all the software that is going to make people buy the system? And specifically, where is the software *exclusive to the PS3* that is going to make customers pay $200 more for the PS3 when they could get the same games (probably with more robust online play) on 360?
-
Assuming that, 360 will have had a year and a half head-start to get a solid install base (hell, it's starting to pick up in Japan)? Even then you have to assume that 360 and Wii will stay the same price they are now. As a gaming machine, 360 is a much better value than PS3 is *right now* (for current gen, anyway). That has to change before Sony is going to be "on top" again. Is there a way for a company to take its pricy console and, oh, slash about 100 dollars or more off its pricing within its first year and not be looked as at as some sort of desperation move? And if it a *small* cut is made...what is making customers not want to wait for further cuts? Sony is not making money on the PS3 now. Even if this pans out well, they're probably still going to lose money. All those slots and the wi fi in the premium model, the hard drives, the emotion engine (well, for those who have it...), plus Cell and Blu Ray. I'd say you're being a little premature on this.

News to me. I thought it was a one note joke that made Pepe LePew cartoons seem not quite so repetitive. I'd swear so, too. Wikipedia says differently, though--2 starring cartoons and a bunch of cameos, allegedly. Tiny Toons had some really great Halloween specials. One Eyed Jack was a pretty awesome monster. They also did a great twist on the Bugs cartoon where he met Dracula.

Really enjoyed the show, but there were lots of hit/miss segments. Chicken Boo and Katie Kaboom, anyone? Goodfeathers was fairly average. The actual Warner stuff and Pinky and the Brain were my fave, Slappy was always great if infrequent. Buttons and Mindy usually made me yawn. And while not really a negative on the show itself per se, when I found out that Minerva Mink had a major internet fanbase, often odd people called "furries," I think I died a little inside. Tiny Toons I thought was more consistently funny.
