    Suddenly my video player sucks

All video files like this? Check Mute, try it with a different player, etc. I wouldn't recommend BS Player, unless you find a free download of the Pro version. It uses adware. Try Media Player Classic. You can get it from File Hippo.com. It even plays DVD movies.

    Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles

Yeah--I'm hoping for a PS2 port, or if not, a peripheral to play PSP games on PS2. However, knowing Sony, they'd release it for PS3. At the cost of 120 bucks.

Whedon pulls out of Wonder Woman project

I firmly believe Whedon got the job because... A) Some exec who never saw Buffy heard about the show 2nd hand from an intern, and said, "Oh, how about that Buffy guy?" B) When Whedon was offered it, he took it pretty much as a joke, and figured he could do anything with it and still end up with a better movie than someone else would pump out. Then he realized he had no clue on how to make it work. So, this is not shocking at all. IMO, Whedon had no idea how to make the movie not suck and has given up.

    Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles

Silent Hill Origins was originally going to be a remake, but later it was changed to a prequel. It's being designed by Climax, and it using a Resident Evil-ish behind the back view. There's tons of trailers and gameplay vids online. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_quer...p;search=Search The game is conspicuous by it's absense at Gamer's Day. The game's producer has considered a PS2 port of it at some point, but by the lack of news on the title recently is a bit frustrating.

100 reasons why Sega is/was stupid.

BACK ON TOPIC, folks: 66) They have produced some of the most awful English game dubs ever. Bad voice acting is somewhat of a staple in Japanese imports, even when the companies responsible are some of the best in the business. Capcom's own Resident Evil is a prime example. Most people tend to blame the actors, but that's not always valid. Voice direction, sound production, and writing all play huge parts. Almost no company gets it right the first try. Square's early efforts were pretty awful (FFX), but have improved remarkably. However, even know not everything goes right. See: Mena Suvari's cough-syrupy performance of Aeris in Kingdom Hearts 2, making just about everyone with a pair of ears clamor for Mandy Moore to return to the role, even though all the talent was there to have made it good. Of course, not every company that's been doing the job for a long time gets any better. Sega's been English-dubbing games since the days of the Sega CD, and they *still* suck at it for the most part. I present to you Exhibit A. Not enough? Have some more! Exhibit B Exhibit C Exhibit D Exhibit E Exhibit F 67) They bent over for EA Sports to give them special privileges. Remember those funky Electronic Arts cartridges for the Genesis? That looked like no other carts? Why is that? Well, if you're familiar with NES history, you'll know a number of companies produced unlicensed NES cartridges, i.e. they were not manufactured by Nintendo themselves, thus did not get slapped with the Nintendo Seal of Quality. Camerica, Tengen, Color Dreams/Wisdom Tree, and others got into the act, with several different methods used to bypass the lockouts. Well, did any of them get official endorsements from Nintendo? Naw. But after EA decided to make their own cartridges that worked on the Genesis, without any Sega endorsements or approvals, they rubbed it in Sega's faces. So Sega pretty much just took it, hence the funky carts. Of course, maybe Sega's official stance wasn't to pursue these on legal grounds (I don't know of any actions taking against CodeMasters for their unlicensed carts), but Sega never gave them or any other such company an official license. Sega-16 Article / Interview with Kevin McGrath. 68) They can't properly emulate a huge portion of their own games. With Virtual Console, XBox Live Arcade, and the Playstation Store all featuring classic game titles, classics from every era have been hitting the download services. However, each time Sega throws another piece of Genesis shovelware out there, the questions are asked "Where's NiGHTs? Where's Panzer Dragoon Saga? Where's Eternal Champions CD?" And so on. Well, the simple fact is...it isn't just that Sega doesn't care (because they don't, incidentally), but it's that they can't. Sega doesn't know how to properly emulate Sega CD games and Saturn games on current hardware. Sonic CD wasn't implemented into Sonic Mega Collection for this reason (although it was attempted, as hackers had uncovered). It's also presumed why the Saturn Sonic Jam lacked it as well, even though the video clips from it were included. All of the Saturn and Sega CD games that have been emulated on current hardware (original Panzer Dragoon in Orta, Sonic CD and Sonic R in Sonic Gems, Virtua Cop 2 in the Sega Smash Pack) had been made possible from Sega reverse-engineering the original code from the PC versions--something they have been unable to do with the Sega CD/Saturn games, for some reason. If Sega had access to the original code of the games, this wouldn't be a problem (which allowed the Lunar remakes to be made). It's not that Sega can't possibly do it...but they're too cheap to invest in the R&D necessary to pull it off.

    Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles

Valkyrie Profile Final Fantasy Tactics: Lion War (with new translation!) Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles Silent Hill Origins Between these titles, the Mega Mans (which are getting really cheap these days), and some good fighters, I'm considering picking up a PSP at some point in the future. But I'm putting it off as long as possible, like when Sony makes a redesigned, cheaper PSP with better battery life and a non-crappy d-pad. Maybe they'll make some good original games for this thing some day.

    Final Fantasy VI Advance?

the sketch bug was fixed a long time ago in later versions of the SNES FF3 carts. I've never heard of it appearing on the PS1 version (not that it could damage the disc anyway). The bug is so well-known that I'd say there's no damn chance of it being a problem. They can't possibly overlook it. Besides--sketch/control kind of sucks, save for using Control to get Lores. Relm's a million times better being used as a powerful magic caster. And the Fanatic's Tower with MagiMaster at the top? Duh. Life3 FTW. However, fighting Intangirs and Wrexsoul is going to suck serious ass without that trick. The actual dialogue/text better be basically the same as the Ted Woolsey original. If it gets major re-writes, Squenix is a bunch of filthy sons-of-licentious-howlers.

Transferring data from an old hard drive

Hm...this looks good... http://www.compusa.com/products/product_in..._Disk_Enclosure The harddrive is a 3.5", so that should work okay. Is there anything else here I should verify before purchasing?

Transferring data from an old hard drive

I've hit a major snag, unfortunately. The drive cable that connects my hard drive to my motherboard is just a single-drive cable. So I'll need a dual-drive one to get this sucker working. So, in summary, to get this installed as a secondary drive, I need a dual-drive Ultra DMA jump cable. Either that or a drive caddy, which is looking more and more appealing at this point. I've googled and hit compusa's site with little luck. Am I just using the wrong keywords?

If by fun you mean totally retarded, yeah. Although--am I the only one to make it through the DOA movie? Come on, you pansies, that movie sucked but it was easy. I've seen Mortal Kombat Annihilation 4 times! I've made it through House of the Dead a few times! I've seen Battlefield Earth beginning to end! The first Mortal Kombat and Silent Hill, IMO, came the closest to being good. Although for different reasons. Movies based on fighting games usually are terrible anyway, but you just know that the movie is devoid of any creativity if it features a villain stealing characters' fighting abilities as a major plot point.

Transferring data from an old hard drive

You skimmed the post--it's for a friend, and his new computer is a laptop. However, I guess I'll just go with the 2ndary harddrive route on mine. If I get the data off it he'll be glad to let me keep his dvd drive/memory/hard drive. Should I just pop it in and go? The top of the hard drive suggests running some disk wizard first. Or is that for n00bs (like router install discs)?

Itrackr shows 14 of 16 stores in Pawtucket carrying PS3's. 0 of 16 with Wii's. Those impulse buyers keep cleaning them out. Yeah! Like that media set-top box that was PS2.
