The OAO Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess Thread

Kotaku is reporting that Best Buy has apparently recieved TP early and are selling it: http://kotaku.com/gaming/wii/zelda-twiligh...-now-215083.php It *would* have to be Best Buy (which I have none of nearby).

The OAO Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess Thread

Since we're on that topic, some opinions on the following, please?: I'm currently gaming on an 8-year old 19" SDTV that only has RF input. That's wired to a game selector switch. So compared to even enhanced def, my games surely look like ass compared to what they could be. However, the thought of paying any more than $300 for a new TV kills me. I've seen a lot of cheap TVs that have support for component cables, but are CRTs. I could easily get a good sized one for less than $200. Usually on display the picture doesn't seem to be too great tho--also it seems a lot of the time they are connected up with standard RF cables. Also, some time, near or distant future, I will either get a 360 or PS3. Stuff like Assassin's Creed make it seem very tempting. A new TV will surely last me many years, but should I jump and get one of those CRTs with component support? I've noticed some of the LCDs are getting rather affordable if you don't mind a smaller set, but I've heard about problems with motion-blurring, which could be a problem for gaming. Yet, if the ones with component cables are simply a case of "yeah, it'll work, but you won't notice any difference," maybe it's best I wait. Thoughts? EDIT: The wii also is supposed to support VGA--so I suppose that would be a good option as well to consider.

Jeremy Parish basically believes the hype on the game length: http://www.toastyfrog.com/verbalspew/pivot...php?id=222#comm Also--get those component cables if you have a choice. Sadly, I don't.

    Wii

No, it appeared that the tops of them were bulging out to a larger area than the rest of the case, which would make them difficult to organize/stack. My perceptions were incorrect, though. If I had my way they'd be CD jewel-case sized.

    Wii

The case is almost exactly the same as a 360 case except for the color. The disc holder, the areas where it snaps together, the weight--all the same. However, there's a Wii logo just above the disc. On the back of the box, in the upper right corner are icons indicating the recommended weapons for taking on the game. In this case, it's the Wii Remote and Nunchuck attachment. When you open it, there are two hinges at the far end of the spine--which is rather weird for a one-disc game. The Wii logo is right above the DVD holder.

I don't own a digital camera, sorry. Nor a scanner.

    Gears of War (Xbox 360)

Anya beat it already. At first she said it was "good" not "great." Then she changed her mind when she found out Cliffy B is a huge Buffy fan (which would explain the character named Anya, and Cliffy's bunny suit). Ever since then she says its OMG GOTY!!1

    WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2007

CAW is there for any of them worth playing as. Plus, you never know when drug users/WWE-rejects-cum-TNA-rejects will be hired back. They're already in!! And most of the OVW standouts are the same damn wrestler with the same damn moveset. Just rename them/change their finisher and voila. With hacks, No Mercy can be updated to almost no limits. You'll have to put up with slightly lumpy/blocky wrestlers, but graphics whores probably moved on a long time ago.

    Wii

A few Wii games are out already: Happy Feet, Spongebob, and Trauma Center 2nd Opinion. I bought Trauma Center. I would rate the box 8/10: very pretty and white, but shame it isn't smaller than a DVD case like the PS3 cases are. Now I just need a Wii system, Zelda, and maybe Elebits.

There sure are a lot of music games these days

I don't have the rumble pack, but I have Drill Dozer on GBA. It's really kind of "eh" for the rumble, but I suppose you wouldn't want too much on this sort of game anyway. The Ouendan I ordered came. I was blazing through most of it pretty easily--then I got to a level where this dude was making pottery, and the 3rd section of it...BAM...the elite (or whatever it is called) gauge just DROPS and DROPS and DROPs. Several 100 pointers killed me over and over.

    PlayStation 3

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/745/745271p1.html Meanwhile, 360 owners are stuck with a mere 20 GB because their HDDs need to be specially made to fit with the 360. MS isn't much better. Anya was sold that she "was screwed" by one of the reps.

Smoke and Mirrors did come out, though (maybe it didn't come out in Canada?). OMG, I remember reading about Desert Bus. It was a pretty much completely straight road, but it would have slight changes in direction now and then, so that if you did something like tape the controller down, you'd end up going off the road and have to start over. The Sega CD had lots of games that seemed to exist only as torture devices.

    Castlevania movie poster unveiled

DMC = Capcom game, had its roots in a next-gen Resident Evil engine. Castlevania (N64) and Legacy of Darkness = Konami published games developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Kyoto. The first game was rushed out for Christmas as an unfinished mess, and the later, much better Legacy of Darkness was pretty damn good for the time period. I like it myself. However, 9 out of 10 hack game reviewers preface their reviews of Castlevania games by saying "boy, those N64 games sucked." Most of the time they never played the games or didn't know Legacy of Darkness existed. The N64 CVs were less the hardcore action games the classics were, and more platforming/exploration games. So no. However, spiritually, DMC takes a lot of hints from Castlevania. Iga wishes he could make a 3D Castlevania that good.

Okami was a solid 40ish hours. I have little trouble believing TP will be significantly longer. But I hate the X number of hours argument as well. It means nothing if those hours aren't fun at all to play.

The OAO Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess Thread

Chrono Trigger was like 25 hours, and is better than 90% of RPGs out there. It didn't need to be any more. Well, on SNES. Add a crapload more time if you playing the broken PS1 version.

The OAO Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess Thread

But most RPGs are stuffed with packing-peanut random battles, so their purported length often tends to be pretty lame and hardly is in their favor. And on the flipside, a lot of Ocarina was empty space with few/no enemies, while this one is supposed to be way harder.

    PlayStation 3

It doesn't really mean anything one way or another that there's a lot of tards willing to pay 3x retail to get a PS3. There will always be idiots with too much money for their own good and/or the wisdom to use it well. Oh, some good news: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/745/745259p1.html One year warranty on PS3. It's about ****ing time, Sony. EDIT: apparently the slim PS2 and PSP had 1 year warranties already; the PS1 and original PS2 had 90 days. Now one could only hope that Sony's customer service improves, rather than attempting to put the blame on you somehow when their shit breaks.

I wonder if the signpost text was flipped as well with the rest of the game...? I'd say it would be best to ask a Japanese gamer who could read the Hylian. I know they're out there.

Comments that don't warrant a thread

Why? Gears of War? Yes, another shooter is just what 360 needed to expand its offers to larger demographics.

    Wii

Sega makes a mediocre game. Will wonders never cease? Some bad news for Virual Console: Rumble won't be supported in the N64 titles, regardless of what controller you use. For most games that's no biggie--but I'll stick to any one of my other 4 versions of Ocarina of Time, thank you.
