I'm not going to justify Russia invading, but if Georgia had semi-competent leadership, they would have realized joining NATO and cracking down on South Ossetia invited Russian intervention. NATO blundered BIG time expanding into Russia's sphere of influence. Russian support in the Security Council on issues like Iran and North Korea is WAY more important than some feel good support for states like Georgia. What Russia does in the Near Abroad has no effect on US Security unless we continue to naively align ourselves with unstable “democracies.” Adding backwards ex-Soviet satellites and republics does nothing to strengthen NATO, it’s just riding a 17+ year old high from the Soviet collapse. And let's be honest, if scences like this were taking place in the Mid-East or the Balkans, the Western media would be creaming itself about democracy being on the march.

I can sympathize with women hoping to see a woman prez in their lifetime, but there has to be a way better female candidate somewhere. Remember, Hillary blew what the media was calling an inventible nomination. If someone in her campaign paid the slightest attention to the Dem's proportional allocation of delegates instead of just trying to win the big states, she would have probably ran away with the nomination. I wish the media would look beyond the whole cult of personality, black guy vs. white lady rivalry within the Party. The biggest story of the primary was that the Democratic base moved to the leading populist candidate who appealed to the base’s core beliefs (at least during the primaries before Obama's positioning towards the center) vs. the establishment candidate, whose main argument was that she was the most electable (though given her baggage, I thought that point was a bunch of BS). In 2004, Dems chickened out on Dean, and went with the dull, yet supposedly more electable Kerry, and managed to lose to Bush.

I don't think WWE is exactly leading by example by sending out a roided out 39 year old who waited until now to register to vote.

Tim's has been in Buffalo forever, but just moved to Rochester a few years ago. Now there's one every two to three miles on any semi-important suburban road. I used to work at a DD eastbound on the Thruway. It was hell whenever the Sox played at the Jays for a weekend series and all the Massholes stopped on the way home. They had the entire menu and prices memorized, and were pissed off everything was like 25 cents more expensive because travel plazas always jack up the prices.

Obama/Biden was my second favorite choice for over a year after Obama/Richardson. The only thing I worried about Obama's lack of experience was in foreign policy. Otherwise I view the less time in DC = less corruption and adopting of the hegemony of bland, middle of the road, voting not to lose politics. I hope the Dems embrace Biden’s bluntness. The Dems’ main weakness in my lifetime has been being wishy washy control freaks, afraid to express their true feelings. In general, they try to make everyone happy and in turn inspire no one (I‘m looking at Obama‘s answer about abortion in the Evangelical forum for the most recent and most cring worthy example) . I agree that the VP picks will have a minute effect on this election, but turning Biden into an old establishment carrier politician white guy would be a huge mistake. The GOP in general has no probleme with blunt assholes. It makes them look like they actually have principals they stand by. If I was a Dem stategist, I’d continue to let Obama be the chocolate charisma, Biden be the vanilla bluntness.

I have to say that this was probably the best paced movie I've ever seen. It jumps right into the action, but the plot never feels rushed. I normally hate when comedies go over 90 min, but it never dragged for a moment. Good preformences all around, but Downey definitly stole the show. Cruise was good, but I think his preformence was Way overhyped. Overall, 8/10.

Early SmackDown! Six era goodness: Edge and Rey vs. Eddie and Benoit, September ?, 2002, houseshow, Gund Arena, Cleveland. Would have been near ***** if Rey hadn't botched. I really appreciated the effort considering their might have been around 3K in attendence at the most and they crowd was dead the whole night.
