Jags and Colts are tied at 24. Fuck you CBS, fuck you NFL for your shitty network rules.
-
The Chiefs score AGAIN. They have SEVEN rushing TDs today. I think they'll break 60 easy (still 14:00 to go in the 4th), unless they completely let up on the pressure.
-
Well to be fair, if the Cards win tonight, people (*coughCartmancough*) will be saying "well, we'll have the ALCS comeback at least." If that guy didn't like sac bunts, he's going to HATE tonight's game. You know that they will put one down at every opportunity with Schilling's ankle being what it is. Is it a good strategy? We'll see.

I've got the scintillating Lions/Giants game on my TV, and no other game. I wish I could watch Jags/Colts, at least. And Atlanta? Just call them exposed. That thud you heard was their defense falling back to earth.
-
Steinbrenner's already sending scouts over there, I'll bet. Seriously, this is great to hear. Let's just hope their games aren't 4 hours long like ours are recently.
-
Crap that was an ugly defensive effort. Guys just seemed to be trying too hard to make plays and not using their noggins. Manny just slid too hard on that dive and got his foot caught in the grass, so I can forgive him a bit for missing that catch. I think the Marquis substitution shows the lack of depth on the Cards' bench. When you have to put a pitcher in to pinch-run, you have a problem. And that Womack injury can't be any good for them, if he's out for a few games. I think tonight's game will be pretty much what we see for the rest of the series (minus the errors....I hope). Both teams will put many guys across the plate, and I don't think we'll be hearing Buck say "this game is locked in a pitchers duel" much. Oh, and Ortiz's homer? MAH GAWD!
-
Al, just a correction to your World Series column (good work as always): Lowe is starting game 4.
-
Thanks Patty. Now get that Cardinals logo the hell out of your avatar. I still read the occasional show, BTW. The Australian HeldDown was really, really good. I actually talked with Zack about coming back a few months ago, but it fell through. Who knows, PK might be back sooner than you think, or I might just create someone new.

Oh yeah, Orlando played in Montreal this year. *Bashes head against wall* Well, do you think they should anyway?
-
Agreed. 294/366/512 in Pro Player Stadium, and he's just 21! Most similar batter at age 21, Hank Aaron. Of course Ruben Sierra is #2. In any case though, he has the potential to become great. So do you think the Sox should hold on to him? Before the playoffs, I thought he was a good addition for this year, but they could do better in the FA market, but now, I wouldn't mind seeing him stay around for a while. Especially since he seems like a guy that really loves what he does (a la Jeter).
-
GAH! I think the phrase "hitting the wall" applies to how I'm pitching right now. I guess focusing on stamina isn't a good idea when you give up 8 runs a game.
-
Can someone confirm this for me? The Yankees have NEVER won a World Series with a payroll over $100 million, have they? Was it that high in '99 or 2000?
-
There's a thread for ALCS talk already here. Sorry for stepping on your toes, Al.
-
I probably should save this for the World Series thread, but it will be interesting to see what the Sox do in the NL park since, with no DH, they might have to bench Ortiz (or let him play 1st *shudders*) EDIT: What might be better than this win is that ESPN Classic is FINALLY finished with the Red Sox-Yankees 24/7 stuff. They must have shown Game 7 '03 about 25 times between the end of game 6 and last night. And Cheap Seats is back on, baby!

Ah, when you pass 21, it's just one long countdown to your mid-life crisis. I think when I turn 40, I'll end up going across the country on a dog sled or something. Thanks anyway, guys. And Brian was right, BTW. I got my gift at 12:03-ish this morning.

And the idiotic drunken college kids are ruining the celebration in Boston for everyone. The cops look ready to do some head cracking.

I thought it was Jack Buck it was Um.....oops? And I have to admit something: I gave up after game 3. I didn't even want to watch game 4 after the 19-8 loss. I just wanted the Yankees to end it (read my post from after that game). So I'd like to apologize to the Nation for losing the faith. What a fucking rollercoaster ride this series was. It tops last year's, not only because I was laying in bed in Miami with jet lag watching Boone's homer fly out, but it was THE, not possibly, THE greatest comeback in the history of American professional sports.

The final out was recorded just minutes into my birthday. Greatest birthday present ever. To quote Vin Scully: "I can't believe what I just saw!!" Johnny Damon is resurrected, DEREK LOWE puts in a quality start (he might have kept his job, or just earned himself a bit more coin on the FA market), and the Yankees fans were out of it from the start. Fantastic. I can't WAIT to see the NY papers tomorrow. And regarding the WS: You DO know that the NLCS is going to a game 7 as well, and the Sox will have one extra day of rest. It should be a damn good series, Cards or 'Stros. Wow.
-
Mute the TV and turn on the radio. Oh yeah, put Joe Morgan in there. REAL improvement. I really don't mind Buck, and I would much rather hear him and Leiter for the WS.
-
So they're doing the "tag team partners that are slapped together and win the titles even though they hate each other" thing again with Benoit and Edge? Well, it has been two years since they used it last, which in WWE terms seems like an eternity.

I need to get my endurance up. Pure Stuff: 2 Pitching Velocity: 5 Pitching Control: 5 Stamina: 8 I actually had a pretty good season, but that injury just stopped me in my tracks and I couldn't recover for the end of the season. Hey, I'm only 3 wins from 100 in my career. Not bad for a guy who spent his first 7 years as a middle reliever.
-
I'm surprised no one brought up yet another "McCarver-ism" from last night, the "Matsui walk is just as good as a homerun" comment in the 9th. Even Leiter couldn't hold back a "WHAT?" for that one.
-
Oh, forget it. At least both bullpens got some rest tonight, because I don't think the starters will be in long tomorrow. This might end up an 11-9 game.
-
It's a Jeopardy joke. A lot of Sox fans weren't too rosy after getting whomped 19-8, and a lot I know weren't too keen to watch game 4.
-
You're even going to bother watching this horseshit? What is "What most Red Sox fans were saying before game 4", Alex?
