But wouldn't it work better if prices were LOWER? As far as I've seen, higher gas prices this summer would force people to drive LESS (i.e. find vacation spots closer to home, don't go away at all) and conserve what gas they have. If the oil companies have all this excess oil, wouldn't lowering prices be a smarter buisness decision? You know, supply and demand and all that jazz?

Sent my stuff to ya, Northy. If someone else is posting it, ship it to him.

New Iron Chef America series on Food TV
KingPK replied to MarvinisaLunatic's topic in Television & Film
Actually, he lost to Toshiro Kandagawa in a Red Snapper battle on the 21st Century Battles special in 2001. I caught every special except for Morimoto-Batalli, and it wasn't that bad. The Chairman wasn't as over the top and goofy as Shatner's, and it had more of a feel of the Japanese series than the one on UPN did. But I didn't like the solo commentary. I would have liked someone with Alton just because I'm so used to a 2-man booth on this show. -
I just think gimmick posters are a complete waste of time. Sure, some of them are humorous (ABOBO for one), but for every good one, there are 20 really crappy ones (Spoiler, the one who spelled everything backwards, Lemmycake, This Thread is Ghey), and they just clutter up the board. Notice how the number of members dropped by almost half after FS cleared out the dead weight? I'm willing to bet half of the accounts deleted were gimmick accounts with maybe 10-20 posts. I prefer people that bring things to the table other than a joke that gets old in two days.

From Dr. Tom's thread in Site Feedback: There you go.

Just for giggles, AS, what other priorities exist in Yankee fandom?? PLEASE don't get him started again.

Doesn't look good on a shirt, and doesn't make a good chant. The only design I remotely like is the last one, simple and effective. The "Shank a Yank" and "Killin' with Schilling" ones are too mean spirited for my taste.

I had a Yankees Suck shirt with Clemens' number on the back. Don't know what I did with it, though. I am tempted to get one of those Yankee Hater hats though. But yeah, couldn't you have put this in the baseball thread or something, AS?

I guess Dr. Tom got drunk last night and gave me mod powers over this folder. I'll try to not be too heavy-handed, but any threads about basketball or hockey will immediately be deleted since there are no Boston teams involved, Yankee fans will have to convert, and I will require a daily thread paying hommage to myself and your Lord of Football, William Belichick. If you haven't been paying attention, I am kidding. Seriously, I think this is one of the better forums at TSM, so I won't really step into any topics unless things get too out of hand. I mostly will be keeping things in order and making sure people can find the more important threads more easily. I'm just making a few moves to start: - Unpinning the Mock Draft thread and putting the Official Draft thread in it's place for about a week, so everyone can discuss how their team turned out and such. Any "rate your team's performance" or "how did your team turn out?" threads will be closed. - Pinning both NHL and NBA playoff threads until their respective playoffs are over. - I was going to pin the This Week in Baseball threads, but I think five pinned threads is enough, unless Lightning Flik or Tom wouldn't mind me unpinning their Fantasy League threads. Once the playoffs end, I will pin the baseball threads each week. I was thinking of pinning AS' Yankee bitching thread for it's entertainment value alone, but I decided not to. Anyone that has any questions can PM me anytime and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Or you can reply to this thread. Thank you.

Hmm...... *Searches for Kotz's posts in the Sports folder*

Bingo. IMO, it's all about the system in today's NFL. Just look at New England: Drew Bledsoe just wasn't the type of QB that fit into Belichick and Charlie Weis' system. Drew was all about standing in the pocket and going long to his receivers. Tom Brady is more mobile, and is very good at the short/intermediate passes, which is Weis' forte. Better fit=better offense=success. Of course, the thing is with those two examples you cited about 2nd stringers coming in and succeeding (Volek and Ferotte), that was only for a few games. There could be a whole bunch of reasons they did well in that short time (bad opposing D, QB just had a good game, etc.)
-
I agree that 5-6 pinned threads is too many, but I'm not going to pin that many; that's why I was thinking about unpinning the fantasy threads (though someone beat me to it). Right now, the NFL Draft and the NHL and NBA playoffs are the big things in the sports world, so their threads get pinned. I'll pin the next TWiB thread (and the ones that follow) just so it's easy to find.

I really liked the Pats' draft. The Dillon trade pretty much filled their only hole on the roster, so that gave them freedom to pick whoever they thought was the best fit for their system. Vince Wilfork should be a huge (in more ways than one) asset for the D-line over the next 5-8 years or so. Man, with Seymour, Warren (if he keeps improving), and now Wilfork, that d-line looks pretty damn scary to face. Ben Watson was kind of a head-scratcher, but I guess they're preparing for Fauria's eventual exit, and want to give Graham a kick in the ass since he's kind of slow to step up. I read that he's an extremely intelligent player, and that's what Belichick wants. Dillon should get some good holes to run through if they use him at all. I don't know much about the guys in the later rounds, but I like that they got some youth for the backfield (two safties and a CB), and they seem to have a penchant for turning 5th-6th-7th rounders into good players (David Givens, Deion Branch, and Brady, of course). I think NE's going to be around for a while. A

That is the biggest difference I've seen with this Yankees team compared to previous seasons: they just don't seem to make much of an effort. The Red Sox batted .200 over these last three games, with a .170-ish average w/RISP, which INCLUDES the 11 run Friday night, which shows you how bad they were in the Sat/Sun games. Past Yankee teams would have taken those last two games easily. I know it's April, and they have started slowly before, but this seems different somehow.

From looking over the last few pages of that thread, people are already starting to do it. If people think that a seperate rating thread would be a better idea, then I don't see a problem.
-
And the Patriots end a weird first round by picking a TE, a position I don't think they really needed anyone for.
-
If not this year, the Lions may be a playoff team in the next few years. Especially if the NFC North continues to suck. I dunno about the Pats, but I'll agree with either a CB or OL, and MAYBE a WR (if there is still a good one there)
-
Dallas will be in the top 10 in '05, so I wouldn't be TOO worried. Still, what a fucking weird draft.
-
I like Wilfork a lot. Great pickup by the Pats. I'll be happy with whatever they do for the rest of the draft. Trade Ty Law? Go ahead.
-
Williams' agent sent him out of the country to protect him form all the draft hoopla.
-
Bills go with offense. Not sure if that was the BEST decision.

Wow, the Jets fans actually LIKE a pick!!
