C'mon, did you REALLY think this thing would just magically get all better after Saddam fell? I remember reading about polls saying people were in favor of war even if it meant moderate casualties. Well, this isn't even close to "moderate" and people are bitching and complaining. Kkk is right: if WWII happened today, people would go insane after 2 months.

Kovalev nets #2, 2-1 Habs. I tuned in late; are the refs still calling every little thing? That hooking penalty was a bit iffy.
-
Geez....guy on 2nd in a one run game in the 9th, and the Sox have to depend on Dave McCarty and Mark Bellhorn? COME BACK NOMAR!!! EDIT: Ok, maybe Bellhorn isn't so bad

What a fascinating contribution to the discussion, Cartman.

Fixing the problem with the OaO threads is simple. Either: A) Create the thread AFTER the show, and designate an AIM chatroom for people to talk about RAW/SD/PPV during the show or B) Create the thread in the morning/afternoon, but lock it when the show begins and then unlock it after the show ends. And there IS a lot of crap polluting that folder. Glennsoe's "Steph buys a new bra" news threads is just the tip of the iceberg.

I know how to pitch, and I'm playing at All-Star level. I just can't seem to get it going with Pedro. The rest of the staff have records like 11-4, 10-4, so I'm doing SOMETHING right. For the fielding, bump up the CPU catching errors slider to about 30 or so (or higher, if you want to). They still make some circus catches, but a fair amount are missed, too.

Yep, just go into the player editor and change his name to Barry Bonds and his number to #25. Oh, and it might be a good idea to make him black, too. I had one of the quickest games ever yesterday in Atlanta. It was Wakefield vs. Ramirez and they were ON. It was just 1-2-3 inning after 1-2-3 inning. About 20 minutes later, I'm in the 9th and it's 0-0. I don't get anything in the top half, and I pinch hit for Wakefield, so I brought Alan Embree in. Sure enough, on the FIRST FUCKING PITCH to Marcus Giles, he smacks it BARELY over the left field wall for the game winner. And I gotta say, Pedro sucks in this game. He's 8-8 at the All-Star break and I am seriously considering trading him straight up for Kerry Wood (the Cubs have him on the trading block).

I thought the refs usually call FEWER penalites in the playoffs? The refs doing Bruins/Habs have been calling every little thing. It's really disrupting the flow of things. EDIT: What a shitty goal for Theodore to give up. Bruins win in OT, go up 2-0.

Man, NESN brought in a lot of female correspondents this year for the Sox games. I've seen three different ones so far this week. Oh, and I move that this thread be closed on Sunday, replaced by weekly "This Week in Baseball" threads, where people can talk about their team's games and other news. If not, this thing's gonna be huge by season's end.
-
Uh....PK goes home. His plane got delayed ......by a week .....yeah, that's it.
-
That was a fitting ending to Sox/O's. There was only about, oh, 55 walks thrown by the pitchers. And it always seems the Sox lose one "walk" off game in the first week or so of the season.

I've moved up to All-Star difficulty and, with the sliders I posted earlier, I find it is pretty damn realistic; you hit well against bad pitching and get into pitchers duels with good ones. As the Sawx, I've in June and have finished my NL West interleague series. I'm leading the East by a good margin, with the DEVIL RAYS second (9.5 GB) and the YANKEES last (16 or 17 GB). I'm enjoying the hell out of this game. I like how the CPU teams trade prospects around. But the funniest trade offer I got was from the Yankees of all teams: Johnny Damon........for Aaron Boone. Yeah, RIGHT.
-
What is with Johnny Damon and crashing into his teammates? Has the guy ever heard of the phrase "I got it!"? I'm surprised he didn't put his hand on Millar's face and scream "HEAL!!"

I'm holding off on my segment until next week. I want to space this stuff out since I've got the whole month to work with.

*Runs in, steals all the Swedish Meatballs, and hits another swinging neckbreaker on Zack* EDIT: *PK realizes he forgot to leave, open to the ire of Zack and meatball lovers so....* *Leaves*

Here's my SKNT team: C J. Kendall (Pit - C) 1B R. Palmeiro (Bal - 1B,DH) 2B D. Jiménez (Cin - 2B) 3B A. Béltre (LA - 3B) SS D. Jeter (NYY - SS) OF J. Damon (Bos - CF) OF C. Biggio (Hou - CF) OF J. Guillén (Ana - LF,RF) Util H. Blalock (Tex - 3B) BN P. Polanco (Phi - 2B,3B) BN A. Ramírez (ChC - 3B) BN S. Casey (Cin - 1B) BN M. Ordóñez (CWS - RF) SP M. Mussina (NYY - SP) SP P. Martínez (Bos - SP) SP V. Padilla (Phi - SP) SP J. Washburn (Ana - SP) SP B. Penny (Fla - SP) RP T. Hoffman (SD - RP) RP B. Looper (NYM - RP) BN R. Franklin (Sea - SP) I had Larry Walker, but he's starting the season on the DL and all I've read is that he's washed up and very injury prone, so I dumped him since I have plenty of OFs. I probably could use a better closer though.

::Videotapes scene and starts up OaOast's Funny Camcorder Recordings, showing that and a montage of various objects hitting Hoff in the groin::

I dunno - Outside Ponson, I don't see anyone on the O's pitching staff that I would call "good." - And Ponson WAS getting hit around last night; the Sox just couldn't drive anyone home. - It's game 1 of the season. The only time Opening Day/Night means anything is if all 18 starting players severely injure themselves, and/or a great bench clearing brawl happens. But I agree that Schilling should have started. He was the "Big Signing", and I want to see him pitch, DAMMIT!!
-
Jesus Damon, END THIS GAME, BALTIMORE!!! Geez, they can't get the 3rd out if their lives depended on it.
-
I had top 3rd in the "Pedro throws too far inside" pool. And another one. This should be interesting.
-
C'mon offense, let's get to that Jackoff pitching staff!! That should be an interesting series; strength (Columbus' hitting) vs. strength (Jacksonville's pitching)

::Unfortunately, Rikishi had just made a Run to the Border, so AS is subjected to a different type of toxic gas::

I wrote my segment before the BIG ANNOUCEMENT of Northstar's stripping of GM duties, so that's the reason for the lack of continuity. I think you'll be intrigued by where I'm going with PK (and thus, I have raised the bar too high for me to reach).
-
PK goes home. And if someone wants help with promo/match writing this month, let me know. My character is inactive, not me.
-
I swear, it's like someone in the front office is screwing around with me. "Oh, that kid dropped his ERA another point? Dammit, we wanted him to go down a half point more! Send him down!!!"
