Come on Huskies, hold the line. I still would have two more shots for the upset, but I want to finish it NOW!

Washington has a vastly superior defense than Miami. If I was picking this week, I'd have no problems taking the points.

They're down 2-0, but the Rockies' best chance at making this a series is coming in the next two games at home and against Dice-K (up and down in the postseason) and Lester (who can't make it past the 5th even under the best of circumstances). I still think this has a chance to go 6, but that now means getting past Beckett in Game 5.

No, that's just what a columnist called Boston in those days. Maybe UK fans inspired him, I dunno.

Hey, I'm just going to enjoy this while it lasts because I remember the "Loserville" days of the mid-90s with Rick Pitino running the Celtics into the ground, the Red Sox wallowing in mediocrity, the Patriots with Drew Bledsoe and the NFL version of Pete Caroll at the helm and the Bruins constantly choking in the first round of the playoffs.

It was only the guys who were on the roster.

But what about World Series history? Was it Game 5 of the 2002 Series?
-
Probably not that often. Wow, the inning's finally fucking over!
-
I dunno, that depends on how Colorado's outfielders are able to handle balls off the Monster and in the alleys with all those weird angles. If a ball gets past Hawpe in right, that's an easy double/triple.

Boston was taking telephone orders after the LDS. What the hell were the Rockies waiting for?
-
So I guess I won because Barron used EPs and has no tiebreaker score. This puts me half a game behind Teke in the division.

Lofton was already rounding third when Manny scooped it up so he might have drawn a throw, since Ramirez was pretty shallow, and that would have allowed Gutierrez to go to second. Skinner had like a second to make up his mind and perhaps was concerned about Manny being too shallow to risk a run. That's the life of a third base coach in a critical situation. I feel bad for the Indians, I really do. They will certainly be back in the mix as early as next year. EDIT: Even though the game technically ended after midnight, this is the second time (2004) the Sox clinched a pennant on my birthday. Good times.

Until I find a closeup of Papelbon beckoning Varitek over after the final out, this is my new wallpaper: And we got the Riverdance again. This is going to be a great World Series.

They are still in the "OMG we're finally dating!" phase of the relationship, so both of them are still going to be all googly eyed with each other. It'll be interesting to see what happens with this later in the season when they start to settle in.

Oh, thank you for this. I'm watching his Terror T.R.A.X. review now and it's just gold.

I hit an inside the park grand slam in gym class once. Of course, there was no fence to speak of where we were playing and the slowest girl in the class had to field my drive, but it still counts in my book. I also played a first base to make Kevin Youkilis proud in T-Ball.

"As of this morning we are completely wireless here at Schrute Farms and as soon as I can find out where Mose hid those wires, we'll get that power back on."

Yeah, it wasn't gut-bustingly hilarious, but it was one of those episodes that shows you there are some damn good writers on that show.

McCarver and Buck were just intolerable tonight. Harping on Manny's comments and the non-HR along with the points Al raised before had me turning on the radio.....but then I had to deal with Glenn Geffner. I can't win.

I don't know if you can fairly assess an offseason based on one postseason series. The Sox certainly didn't lool too vulnerable during the division series versus the Angels. If the Sox made a critical error however, clearly it was leaving Clay Buchholz off the postseason roster in favor of underachieving veteran pitchers. While Matsuzaka and Wakefield fall flat, there's a hot prospect collecting dust the Sox could have used. Of course I'm not basing it on just these 4 games. Lugo didn't drive in a run in the LDS either and Drew had one good hit (and neither guy had an extra base hit in that series). It's just a continuation of the futility of both guys (save for a few streaks by Drew early and late in the season) at the plate during the season.

J.D. Drew: 3 of 11 (all singles), .273 OBP, .545 OPS Julio Lugo: 2 for 14, .200 OBP, a fucking .414 OPS This has to have been Theo's worst offseason in his tenure. All of his big pickups are flopping when the team needs them most. Plus, Pedroia's giving them nothing at the leadoff spot.
