    Keyes Blames Loss

42% for Brad Carson wasn't too bad when you consider that Bush won every county in Oklahoma You'd be wise to make sure that Kos doesn't pimp for him. That man is the kiss of death. -=Mike I don't think that came up in Oklahoma. Anyways, the targets weren't exactly all picked for ease. Why else would Roy Blunt and Tom DeLay be targeted? DeLay actually had his toughest campaign ever, but Blunt rolled over Newberry. As for a curse. There's nothing to really suggest that. Stephanie Herseth (D-SD) and Ben Chandler (D-KY) both had links to these fundraising efforts. Some of us are not totally sure about how much time over the next 2 years should be spent on figuring out what in the hell to do. Carson gained 92,000 more votes than Kerry in Oklahoma. Coburn ran about 200,000 votes behind Bush. Considering the circumstances, it wasn't a disaster

Hillary would be a worse candidate than Kerry. Here's one person who could make a good candidate, if he keeps his job in 2006: Governor Brad Henry of Oklahoma From his site: from the Almanac of American Politics: Brad Henry in 2008! (just ignore that cockfighting stuff)

Do the Democrats need a makeover?

is "We should rethink our drug policy" open-ended enough to get the "pro legalization" people on board while not offending most of the other people?

Good news and Bad news for Kerry Good news: He has the second most popular votes in History Bad news: He has the second most popular votes in this election

    11 States ban gay marriage

I'm amazed that more people voted against banning gay marriage in than voted for John Kerry in Utah. Now that's ticket-splitting! (and yeah.. the anti-Civil Union stuff could have helped surge the No side to 34%) Have we resolved how exactly having formal marriages became so desirable? it's due to some sort of benefits, I think.

Do the Democrats need a makeover?

How can you define someone whose position always changes?... well.. that's how they defined him

I personally believe that something dirty happened in Florida. The Diebold machines are in the places like Palm Beach and Miami. but I doubt they could find any proof of that. Like it would do any good, since nobody would be willing to fight that hard.

McCain is a sellout anyways. He can stay with the GOP

Speculation, as was my "yes" comment. At least Dean had a fucking spine. Howard Dean did his best in January, considering that he was fighting against the powers that be in the Democratic party. Dean wouldn't tell us to wait for the provisionals, and then surrender.

I think he let himself be defined in that manner, which is another stupid move

Kerry voted for the illegal authorization Then he sorta had second thoughts He said that they would wait for the votes to be counted And he surrendered today.

I don't know if I should feel better that I voted for John Edwards. The showing he made in the debate didn't help my impression of him.

Do the Democrats need a makeover?

I'm in favor of banning partial birth abortions except in the cases of the mother's health too. Why? because a full ban has not been ruled constitutional Anyways, there should be more studies to see when or if they would have to do the procedure. I think Kerry's example on the "notification" is definately a bit rare. About the incest example. Although, when it comes to that.. there's evidence to support the idea that "If you get pregnant, we kick you out of the house". Since some parents are pretty much idiots about the whole thing, instead of being supportive. Another thing.. Separation of Church and State means the following to me That no official chuch should be established in America That laws requiring anything like the Ten Commandments being displayed in public buildings can't be passed (why? because there's two different sets of commandments depending on what sect you are in Christianity) That applies to the sects of Christianity and other religions. We're not going to take your Bibles. But America is a nation with a lot of Christians, but not an official Christian nation

Do the Democrats need a makeover?

But how CAN you beat them? At the very least.. neutralize them! Make them less of a concern. Honestly, Abortions in this country would go down if people had more responsibility for their own actions. No law is going to solve that problem And there's more pressing concerns for me than "defining marriage". I think the fact that we've gotten to a point where the recognition of marriage is so lucrative is a sign that something has gone wrong. I think the marriage benefits and all that came from the Republicans and now that's caused the desire for formally recognizing these relationships. And when it comes to insurance or whatever else. There has to be something that can get that settled if the person just happens to have a same-sex partner What other wedges can we think of? Well.. I'm not too sure what else I can bring up about guns

A partisan Secretary Of State is still better than an entrenched civil servant... At least a Secretary Of State can be removed if the people aren't happy with their work. Civil servants are entrenched somewhat permanently unless they do something illegal or insubordinate. I was thinking more along the lines of making secretary of state a non-partisan office which has some bars to prevent people who are holding elective office (or have held it within a certain time frame) from running for the spot. Just having it be an appointed position wouldn't do much. Having Secretaries of State endorse candidates in elections that they're running is just unethical. I'm not saying they would do anything, I'm just saying it's unethical.

More personal opinion: keep politicians the hell away from running the elections since most states have their Secretary of State, a politician, who runs elections Too much potential for major problems on both sides

Do the Democrats need a makeover?

The Social Wedge Issues are fucking the Democrats. Of course Kerry decided to be gracious and let Bush define him. Good job there John. Give me some issues and I'll go though my stands on them. I'm saying that the DNC has no clue on how to beat the Religious Right. Other than "Be more like them" which is such a load of crap.

Do the Democrats need a makeover?

Two straight big losses. The Democrats are in need of a makeover just like Michael Moore is in need of a shave and a diet. The DNC is pretty much clueless. I started to feel that when they pulled out of Missouri. History will prove their 2004 plan to be asinine.

Why the fuck should I have voted for John Kerry, if not for the "Lesser of Two Evils"? I'd say that for being a candidate closer to my views.. he flat out surrendered today. Young people won't vote for someone who has no real spine. You can register all the god damn people you want, but if you don't give them a choice, they will sit on their asses. The views of most young people are not adequately met by the current Democratic party

I can't really articulate all the ways I am pissed off at the Democratic party right now. I will say that McAuliffe better get his ass booted. I'd also say that Al Gore put up more of a fight than John Kerry. The reason why a lot of people don't vote is because they don't believe in the "Lesser of Two Evils" They don't come out to vote for Diet Coke when it runs against Coke.

    CNN Live projections

Any confirmation that there's 1.5 million ballots still out in Florida? I think a 60/40 split there would make up the 300K margin. Granted, some people have reason to be skeptical since the only states where the exit polling was wrong (wrong enough for CNN to 'revise' their polling later) was Ohio and Florida. But, we don't need a paper trail for electronic machines.

We're very close to my 259-232 scenario.. (where Kerry has 259.. the Gore states, except New Mexico and he wins New Hampshire. And the only states left are Ohio and Florida)
