Another Attack In London
Zorin Industries replied to Prime Time Andrew Doyle's topic in Current Events
Turns out this guy may have been in the country without a visa, which may explain why he ran. Whats strange though is that he was allowed to board a bus without the plain clothes officers trying to stop him, that I find odd. -

This is the first time though that the British police have had a shoot to kill policy, and the first time they use it they get the wrong man. That has to be a nightmare scenario for the force, though being so close to the London bombings they'll probably get a little bit of slack. I wonder why he was running though, i'd guess it was because the officers were plain clothes and he thought there was something fishey. Still, don't thtink the police had any other choice, but next time they'll have to be damn sure they get the right guy. -

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4711021.stm Turns out a guy they shot dead yesterday had nothing to do with the bombings at all and was an innocent man. I can appreciate that its difficult for the police at this time to make snap decisions but this one could have serious reprocussions -

They have just released CCTV images of men they want to question. There just normal guys you would see in the street, no robes, two didn't have long beards or anything that is thought of when you think Islamic Fundamentalisim. How do you stop a normally dressed guy with a bag going on a bus and blowing himself up? I really don't think you can -
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4674463.stm On the news at the moment there saying that its likely all 4 were the result of suicide bombers, and all the suspects are British nationals. That'll certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons, especially in the north where relations have been strained with the muslim population for some time

I had a thought. Both 9/11 and the Madrid attacks were carried out by foreigners, but there is every chance that the London attack could have been carried out by British Nationals, what would be the fallout of that, especially if there were suicide bombers involved?

My cousin had just got off the train at Liverpool Street about two minutes before the first bomb went off, so he was damn lucky. Quite a coup for the terrorists though, I know they were probably planning it in time for the G8, but doing it the day after the Olympic result is a hell of a psyhcological coup

Yes, your right, I forgot about the Red Sun slavers in KOTOR 2. Now there was a game that didn't really live up to its potential -

Is tha tthe name of that song? I've been wondering wha tthe hell it's called. Thank you. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats the band, nost famous for being Germanys entry in the 1978 Eurovision final In Israel, and entering a song about Genghis Khan, one of the most prolifice mass-murderers in history. Suffice to saw it didn't go down to well in Jerusalem, but they ended up in 8th place which wasn't too bad -

(((That wasn't taking it like a man, that was him being shocked by the realization that Palpatine had been playing him all along to get to Anakin, and that he was ultimately expendable.))) Compared to Sidious snivelling in front of Mace, it was a noble end in my eyes. Plus watch Christopher Lees face closely in that scene. When he hears Palpatine order Anakin to kill him his first reaction was shock, but, to myself anyway, it looked as if he was steeling himself just before Anakin struck the last blow. Though maybe if I watch it again I will think differntly. Or maybe i'm just sticking up for him because its Christopher Lee P.S: Whats up with this new quote system? -

I can see that, but I just don't get the feeling that it would be in Obi Wans nature or a Jedi's nature to let anyone truley suffer like that. Plus Kenobi tells Anakin not to try the leap that allows him to defeat him, I don't think in his heart he truely wants to kill him while there may be a chance to save him -

I can never get spoiler tags to werk so.... SPOILERS Have just got back from seeing ROTS, loved it, definatly in the top 3. Things I liked: The fact the jedi could have stopped the turn of Anakin if they had just listened to him, or shown him some trust and appreciation. Example, after having the visions of Padme dieing he goes to Yoda for some advice and comfort. Yoda just blows him off with the usual guff about letting go of what he loves, when what Anakin really needs is some support. Same goes for Mace, if he had just shown a bit more trust in Anakin, he could probably have convinced him to let him stop Sidious. Leading on from above, the fact that Sidious had a point, the Jedi where arrogant and distant. It wasn't till too late they realised they were vunerable, and their teachings had flaws. Order 66, made me think of the Night Of The Long Knives, using a military force to do your dirty werk and then stabbing them in the back when they outlived there usefullness. Christopher Lee, with one expression conveying the nobility of Count Dooku's aristocratic background, instead of begging for his life and telling Anakin of Palpatines treachery, taking the killing blow like a man. Little background details, like the prototype Star Destroyers with the Republican colours, Clone Troopers walking around with there masks off all looking like Fett. What I didn't like: Obi-Wan leaving his friend to die in agony, I don't believe Kenobi would let him suffer like that. I would have liked to have seen seen more of Bail Organa setting up the rebellion, maybe for the TV series. More Grevious and Dooku would have been nice. -

I was talking to my uncle about this sort of thing at Xmas, hes an older man, about 75. He said he thought the problem was that theres no shame in this ort of thing anymore. When he was young to be a young unwed mother was a terrible stigma for the girl and her family, nowadays no-one bats an eye and you'll be well looked after if you have a child. I can certainley see his point, and as much as I do agree with benefits in principle I think the system really needs to be looked at.

For me, the real shining star in these firat 3 movies has been Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan. I've always liked McGregor as an actor anyway, but hes really picked up the mantel from Sir Alec Guiness and made Obi-Wan my favourite Star Wars character. Have to give a shout out to Christopher Lee as well, but then I could happily listen to him read the phone book. I know i'm just asking for this to be spoiled, but how the hell can Obi-Wan beat Anakin? He is the chosen one after all, i'm assuming its either some sort of assist, or Anakin has a final attack of concious that allows Obi-Wan to get the drop?
