http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/3515312.stm I've always thought that the terrorist threat to the U.K. was somewhat overhyped to gain political points, but I do agree that it is a question of when rather than if.

To do away with Extremist Islam and make it more moderate and applicable in the real world? You know, I honestly don't see a problem with that... I would like to see that too, but this way isn't going to work, I don't think any outside influence trying to change Islam will work. Plus, in a hypothetical situation where it did work, is it just and democratic to do it?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3500452.stm A timely reminder to all of us that it's not just the Middle East that needs to be looked at when it comes to Terrorism
-
Is that one of the objects of the war on terror?
-
I'd probably only give this an 8 on the retard-o-scale. I've seen and started worse. I included this whole OAOAST business with FS as well, not just this one thread. I can feel my IQ drop the more I read. Plus Canadian Chick has probably got a good case for a court order by now.

When I look at this it raises questions for me. In your eyes where does civilisation start and where deos it end? Is it those who oppose terror, Is it the West vs East, Christinaity vs Islam?
-
Thats not really an answer, especially to the 2nd part

Would you consider the destruction of a religon (to deal with the fundementalist belifs of a few) an acceptable price to pay for winning the War on Terror? Honestly? Yes. That one particular religion has kept most of the Middle East (to say nothing of other portions of the world) in a cultural dark age for, oh, the past several hundred years. How would that make you any different from the terrorists then? And what would you replace it with afterwards?

U.K. terror attack ow inevitable

I don't agree, Spain was already heavilly slanted against the war, plus it was the PP's attempts to place the blame on ETA that really did them in. I think Tony would be able to swing it to his advantage rather than have it negativlly impact on him -
I've seen some stupid shit on this board over the years, but this takes the cake

Now, I can't agree with this. I refuse to believe that people are simply born bad. It's upbringing and their life situation that makes someone what they are. Don't get me wrong, you have to deal with terrorists strongly, but you also have to look at where the come from and the reasons they do what they do. Without that the cycle of violence will simply continue. Violence against violence alone will NOT solve this problem.

Their Muslims under U.S. occupation, its a strong cause for al-Qaeda, offically affiliated or not
-
This is a good point, the Spanish have used there Democratic right to change their their government, a right this war on terror is being fought to protect, and because the result dosen't go the way you want you piss and moan and belittle them. It was their choice, and no matter what influenced that decsion, it has been made, you just have to accept it.

"Lesson: terrorism can work. Prediction: therefore expect more of it. Expect more terrorism aimed at the United Kingdom, against Australia, against Poland, and – ultimately – against the United States. For the terrorists must now wonder: If murder can influence elections in Spain – why not in the United States?" This is very true, I think al-Quaeda has scored its greatest political victory here by knocking out one of the U.S's main military allies. This can only serve to make them even more brazen

I have to say that the PP are partly responsible for the loss, since the people called foul over the immediate claim that it was ETA. Though if it had been ETA then the PP would ahve costed back to power

The Year of Living Dangerously (9/10) Fantastic movie with great performances and a fantastic soundtrack by Maurice Jarre The Breakfast Club (9/10) If you don't like this you have no soul -
Well, didn't take you lot long to stick the knife in, i'm impressed
-
Well, the government have said it is a case of "When, rather than If" and I agree. Radical Islam does have a foothold in the U.K, and I could see a possability for al-Qaeda to infiltrate the U.K through there.
-
"Our correspondent says the late swing to the Socialists raises one disturbing thought - if al-Qaeda was responsible for Thursday's attacks, it appears to have had significant influence in changing the government of a leading Western democracy" Very true, with Spain set to leave Iraq, a major coup for al-Qaeda
