Yes, I totally agree with you on that, Islam is still stuck in the Middle Ages in many ways. But how do you get that message across without it seeming like Western Imperliaism, forcing the Arabs to change there ways. Does Islam need to change from within or does it need help from without and would they accept that?

One question, do you mean the terroists or the people and religon as a whole?
-
Were damned if we do and damned if we don't really. I mean you can't talk to these terrorists, it's not like the IRA, who had a political ideology and motivations, you can talk to people like that. This is all based on religon, which is the main problem, how do you stop someone who thinks he is doing Gods will and will be richly rewarded in Heaven. Lets face it, Religon in the Western world is somewhat looked down upon as being somewhat irrelevant to the modern world. In the Middle East however, its still a very important piece of peoples lives, in fact for some, it may be all they have. How to you try and convince someone like that that what they are doing is wrong? And lets not use the old " kill 'em all" answer, this isn't an army, all it takes is one person with a bomb to kill many. I think that this is a war we can't win and we'll never be truly safe again.

I see your'e point, the thing is we won't know for years, say 15 - 20, if this will work or not. The U.S. may have made the first step towards making a better world, or it amy have amde it possiable for things to become worse. I personnelly feel that it will make things worse, but I cant say for certain. I hope it dosen't, I just don't have much faith that the Western world knows how to properly handle the Middle East.

I meant the Arab worldi n general, the main thrust of my posts has been that the war on terror could very well spiral out of all control, leaving us with a polorised world. It really would be like the Crusades all over again, and that to be honest scares the hell out of me.
-
It's all about HOW the U.S. goes about it, it wouldn't take a whole lot to turn moderate Muslems into fundamentalists. Already I think their are signs of polorisation between moderate Islam and Fundementalist Islam, if the U.S can engage with the voices of moderate Islam and get the message out that they wish to live peacefully with the Arab world, then they could cut off some support for the hardliners. However, saying that, I don't think that is the message coming through. While I wouldn't say this looks like a crusade yet, I don't think it would take much for the Arab world to see it like that. If it gets to that stage, then youv'e lost. You could invade every single Muslim country, try to smash their religon and their culture, but you would never have peace with the Middle East again. Edit: And after a year and a half, thats a thousand.

Well, I wouldn't complain myself

But lets face it, it's not that easy. Islam is one of the worlds fastest growing religons, one false move along the way and you will have millions of people thinking that this is a new crusade. How COULD you combat a religous popultaion which may become violently opposed to any attempt to alter there way of life?
-
So what do you do about this? This isn't the sameof toppling Saddam, who was one Dictator of one country, this is an old and deep rooted religon. How do you cut out militant Islam from the body of the faith itself, without convincing the faith as a whole that you want to destroy it totally. Can it even be done?

It is important, I think, to have a definite sense of justice being done. Everyone and their mother knows he is guilty, but if he is just taken out and hung then it can only inflame fanatics in the Middle East. I'd say he is far more useful dead than alive at the moment, in the sense that he could be used as a matyr. I even wonder if a U.S. court would be the best way, as that could be seen by fanatics as the "Great Satan" butchering a heroic Muslim warrior, would some sort of internatinal court be better? I can understand how Americans would want it to be their right to dispense justice upon Osama, but in the long run, would a sense of international legitimacy be better?

Is Alex Wright a real asshole or something backstage, cause Paul Roma also no sold him during a match. I've never heard anything like that about him though? Alex Wright ruled. Awesome hair. His finisher was a German Suplex. FOR CHRIST SAKES, HE HAD THE COOLEST DANCE EVA~! Oh, I totally agree, the Boogie Knights were beyond cool. I was just wondering with the original question because Steve Austin even took a verbal swipe at him in a shoot interview, yet you never here anyone say anything about his rep in the back.
