Although it would be fair to say in the past that the U.K would be prepared to stand shoulder to shoulder with the U.S, it seems to me that the latest rumblings from Parliment is that very few M.Ps are willing to accept the war on Iraq. It seems to be the first real issue were there is A LOT of concern from Tony Blair that he could be in big trouble if he makes the wrong choice. Half the country is for an attack, half against, so it could go either way.

As far as I know they can only be charged as juvenilles. This is something that I have seen an upswing in recently, especially in Northern Ireland where I live. Ive heard of kids as young as ten throwing concrete blocks off bridges onto passing cars and you routinely hear of kids as young as 12 being shot in the legs by paramilitarys for offences ranging from joyriding to drug dealing. I think its come to the point were we must take a look at how we treat and judge children involved in crime. We simply can't look at them as poor wee dears who have been led astray, these are children who have only seen crime and violence through heir entire lives. But how do we solve this, I have no idea.

Yeah, but in these kinds of cases they always get special treatment because of the risk to their life. P.S: Am I the only one disgusted with the media turning this whole thing into a circus, I think it was when I saw photographers scrambling over themselves to get a picture of the van carrying that I realised how sick it all was.

Thanks for that, it was interesting to read. The difference between me and you I think is that, this one thing came out of the blue. It has never happened before on U.S soil and the shock must have been immense. Where as over here we have had over 30 years of terrorism. While we have a peace process it is far from perfect. The army and police have been shown to be in collusion with terrorists for years and helped orginise murders of innocent catholics, whilt the IRA have blown up men, woman and children. The whole things such a scummy mess that I could never see myself supporting either Britain of a united Ireland. But I do love the land I was born in and could never leave, I just dislike a hell of a lot of the people. Hope that makes sense I feel like I am rambling

Having read your posts for a long time, I am left with a question. Where do you get your patriotisim from? It appears to be quite strong and just wonder the reasons for it. I live in Northern Ireland, and have never had any sort of patriotisim, since this place is such a mess. I suppose this could go out to other posters as well, i've just never been able to understand the intense emotions patrioism installs in people. Thanks in advance

Don't cite views if you're not prepared to defend them. I'm not interested in what the world thinks. Debate is personal. If you're going to make a point, make it yourself. Yes, just as an accusation of anti-semitism is an extremely serious defamation of character. I went back and read that post again. I thought that, yes, you may have meant Europeans in general, but someone just scrolling down and skimming over the post could get the wrong idea. I would love to see a trilogy of WW2 what if movies, so you could go into the altered war in detail. Say starting with the attack into France and ending in 1946 with the final soviet thrust into Germany. You could put a number of altered scenarios into it such as Rommels victory in Africa and thrust into the Caucusus, or the IJN winning Midway. I would mark out like crazy if this happened
