  1. These days I find myself wearing Umaga's shirt, mainly because I'm a fan of ringer shirts. And I always like raising eyebrows at work about the big scary face on the front. Plus, Sandman's shirt is always a good conversation starters with the few wrestling fans at work. I used to wear Carlito's Eat Spit and Finlay's Love Ta Fight shirts but those are now for home or get-togethers with buddies.

Other than that, I would never wear a wrestling shirt in public for all the reasons previously mentionned, except maybe at a wrestling event.

  2. I hate how wrestlers will just wait for finishers to be done to them. Example: whenever The Rock would face someone and he stand around waiting for his opponent to get up and the opponent would "get his barrings" back and walk right into the Rock Bottom. Finishers should be able to be applied quickly. I might not have liked Stone Cold but the Stunner/Diamond Cutter/Ace Crusher could be done at any time and with the quickness.

    Drama, my friend.

Jingus, you could kiss a baby in that ring, and give out puppies to the hicks. But in the real Podunk towns, the ref will always be enemy #1.

  3. So in storyline, how did guys like Helms, Storm, Palumbo, DDP, Kanyon, Tommy Dreamer, Mike Awesome, etc..... get reinstated in the WWF?

Helms: Wasn't he Cruiserweight champ by then? The belt went from WCW to WWF because the Light Heavyweight Title was a joke by then.

Storm: Won his job back by beating The Rock via countout on Raw.

Palumbo: Had already defected to WWF, forming the tag team with Billy Gunn.

the rest: Threatened creative with a lethal dose of continuity in order to get their jobs back.

  4. Hey, a topic I feel at home with.

For me, definitely Chioda. When I ref in the indies, I try to copy his general mannerisms from the devil horn two-count, and the putting-your-foot-down attitude. I was also a bit of a fan of Brian Hebner, from which I copied the armband look but that's more because I get sweaty during matches. And I try to watch as much Tommy Young as possible as he always paid attention to details.

And I love, love, love that the WWE refs recently started checking shoulders with that little hand slide during pins, and generally treating matches as more of an athletic contest between two wrestlers rather than Sportz Entertainment segment #2-B. We haven't seen a ref bump in a high-profile match, haven't we? That is good. So very good.

  5. I nominate:

    - Manson's The Beautiful People when it served as the Raw Is War theme for all of a week or two. Combined with the shot of Austin walking into the warehouse in the opening montage, it just worked.

    - Puddle Of Mudd's Nothing Left To Lose for Rumble 04.

    - The old school Wrestlemania theme (heard at the end of Rumble 94, for instance)
