My friend's reasoning behind it was that it was popular enough of a series to break the usual Disney limit on animated show episodes, and has enough of a fanbase to work into the game.

OK, I admit I have yet to play any Kingdom Hearts games (yeah, I'm bad like that) HOWEVER, something I WOULD like to see for a future installment: Adding in some Disney TV show characters. One suggestion a friend of mine had was add some characters from the show Kim Possible into it. Me? I wouldn't mind, even if just a summon, Darkwing Duck and MAYBE (if there aren't still problems between the creators of the show and Disney) some characters from the show Gargoyles. ...oh, and Disney/Pixar characters too. THat was needed back in KH1 from what I heard.

Backlund, is in the same boat as Bruno. Backlund, I believe was offered in 2004 but he turned it down. I'm going ahead and calling that Terry Funk and Tommy Dreamer (or Sandman) are inducted next year. Funk (and maybe Dory Funk Jr as well) for obvious reasons and Dreamer/Sandman because they will probably want to induct a ECWer into the HOF since they did with AWA this year. Personally, I kinda feel Taz(z) would make a better Hall of Fame fit for an ECW person. I mean, the guy was their monster...the one guy Lawler, RVD and Sabu (though the last one tried) did even bother TRYING to fight when they invaded the arena. Plus, he's on good terms with the E, hence his announcing gig.

They usually play off on major current events or based off the location of the show. Who fits the bill for Detroit and can be the celebrity inductee? I'm more curious at which 80's low/mid-card/tag teamer gets an out of nowhere spot (Atlas, Volkoff, etc) BARRY HOROWITZ! ...or, not.

I'm guessing you haven't beaten it once yet (not sure on that though), so I'll spoil something for you... After you beat it once, you can play through again as Vile. That should double the length a bit for you.
