    Trivia

Fire & Ice was the forgettable duo of Scott Norton and a very green (has he been anything else?) Ice Train.

    WWE Pics

I've already posted shots of the event on my website - these are pics of the wrestlers arriving. Thought some of you might be interested. Maven's Limo Victoria and some random guy who I think was a crew member Chief Morley Christian & Chris Nowinski Christian, Storm, & Nowinski Trish Stratus Arn Anderson Bubba Ray Dudley Shawn Michaels & Kevin Nash Rico Booker T arrives as Jack from Will & Grace scratches his head (check the billboard in the background)

    Question about DX

According to HBK's shoot, and I tend to believe him on THIS one (not so much the others), that was blown way out of proportion. He didn't mean anything by it and he and Steve are pretty good friends.

    First episode of Nitro *inside*

Damn ... I was expecting a review of the show or something ... but this? Good job! I remember taping it and watching it the following afternoon after my first day of high school.

Hey more nostalgia coming your way

Yeah, I came across this piece of news on the Wrestling Classics forum. *Throws various foods and small animals at the messenger for posting this horrible idea*

Booker T will never win the title

Hmmm, that sounds oddly familiar. Let me think ... what other wrestler was given the world title out of nowhere, his career seemingly in purgatory, during one of the darker periods of the promotion's history when ratings were in the crapper and the big stars weren't pulling their weight? What was his name...? Damnit! One minute he's hardly on TV and when he is he's working programs with Papa Shango and the next minute he becomes the first guy to make Ric Flair submit in route to winning a world championship. Oh yeah ... Bret Hart.

Booker T will never win the title

Is this bizarro world where it was Booker's fault WCW went in the crapper and not Luger, Sting, Nash, Russo, Bischoff, Hogan, or AOL / Time-Warner as a whole? Booker was one of the few highlights of WCW from 2000-01. If the WWF went out of business in 1993, would anyone be blaming it on Bret Hart? I knew he wasn't going to win the title last night but as the match progressed I got caught up in it to the point where I started arguing with the TV over the finish. If you want to get technical, HBK's hand did hit the mat three times...

    GOLDBERG CANT DRIVE!!!

Yeah, I can see Goldberg pulling off the T-1000 gimmick. Oh oh, Terminator reference!

    Trivia

Hard questions make me feel dumb. 1. Flair vs. Garvin; cage match with Garvin winning the strap
  10. 1. I'm going by what events in recent times had me glued to the screen and I actually looked forward with great interest to the following week's wrestling. The first that come to mind are the nWo (96-spring 98), the Millionaires Club vs. the New Blood (April - August 00), the Hart Foundation pro-Canada storyline (April 97 - November 97), and most of 1998 in regards to the WWF (Austin's rise to world champ, DX vs. Nation, Taker / Kane, etc). Of those, I would say the nWo was my personal favorite. 2. I don't regard these as the "best" (can't think of any ***** pre-match promos at the moment), but my favorites include Piper's at Royal Rumble 92 ("Weeeeeeeeeeeeell ... what we're dealing with here is one of the original Villiage People! ...") and Bret / Bulldog at Summer Slam 92 ("Look in these eyes and tell me you don't know me, that' you've never met me. Do you remember back to when I was the one that introduced you to my sister Diana in the first place. And as far as your career in the WWF - I'm the one that helped you the most. You wouldn't be where you are today if it wasn't for me. And as far as this big dream ... this big dream of winning the World Wrestling Federation Intercontinental title in front of 80,000 of your compatriots ... well I think this big dream is going to turn into a nightmare and when you wake up tomorrow morning you're going to feel like you woke up in the dungeon ... of Windsor Castle.") 3. Speaking WWF. At the moment: Chrstian ... in the past: Jerry Lynn 4. The biggest that stands out in my mind at the moment is WrestleMania XIV. You have Stone Cold Steve Austin, who 3 years earlier was a washed-up WCW wrestler going nowhere fast, in the most important match at that time in his career against Shawn Michaels - with Mike Tyson as the referee. The WWF was able to take Austin, who had been doomed to midcard purgatory, and make him the focal point of the biggest PPV of the year and the PPV largely responsible for the WWF overtaking WCW in the ratings war. 5. Not sure how to go about determining what makes one pay-per-view better than all the others. The ones I never get tired of watching are WrestleMania VIII, WrestleMania X-7, Summer Slam 92, Royal Rumble 90, and Royal Rumble 92 - with X-7 being just a little bit better than the others overall. 6. Smackdown! is better than Raw for one very simple reason. It lacks a Triple H. 7. I don't laugh at the poorly-done stuff (Jackie Gayda in the ring, lame angles, etc) - I laugh at the crap they ram down our throats (Sable, Torrie, Bud Light girls, Nathan Jones, etc). Of that, I get the biggest kick out of Triple H acting as though he's our lord and savior. Jericho is God and should be prayed to on a daily basis. Same goes for the Hurricane.

Rick Rude and his final WWF Days

Rude leaving in 90 made for one of the bigger "What ifs...?" in my mind. Although I loved him in WCW, it would have been very interesting to see where the WWF was taking him following the feud with Warrior. Rude was gone before he was ever "substituted" on the road by Heenan in the matches with Bossman. I'm not sure if he was ever officially advertised on TV as being part of the 90 Survivor Series but he was eventually replaced by the Barbarian. I believe he worked the indy scene before jumping to WCW in Oct 91. I want to say he worked a program with Paul Orndorff during that time (could be wrong).

    6 Years ago today

At the time, I didn't like that particular Raw because I thought it buried Bret. Wasn't too into the whole Austin-face, Bret-heel route they were going.
  13. I don't know about the legitimacy of that, nor do I care, I just like to make fun of SK at every given opportunity. I think it's appropriate at this time to quote the late Gorilla Monsoon when I refer to SK as a "fountain of misinformation".

    I just saw Michaels/Jarrett

There's a big difference between having your plane detained or being caught in traffic than straight up going home and not giving notice.

    Question about DX

I do believe that specific Raw was from July 98 and featured the X-Pac / Rocky IC title match. HBK was doing guest commentary which would explain why he was at ringside. He had returned just a week or two prior to boost the Raw ratings after they were killed by the Georgia Dome Nitro that featured Goldberg's title win.

    WWF Face-to-Face

If they did something like that, it wasn't in this format. They did have a confrontation on Sunday Night Slam a week before WrestleMania XI - that's the only time I recall them being in the same ring after breaking up.

It may lose some of the humor with each passing post, but Todd looks like the biggest tool I've ever seen and, for that, it never grows old.

    Bulldogs vs Hart Foundation

The previous MSG meeting was in July. The Harts hadn't yet joined forces in March. This is the first meeting I have on record between the Harts and Bulldogs. Since Phili was regularly televised at the time, it's concievable that someone out there has a copy of the match. WWF @ Philadelphia, PA - Spectrum - April 27, 1985 The British Bulldogs fought the Hart Foundation to a draw Ricky Steamboat & Jimmy Snuka defeated Charlie Fulton & Moondog Spot Roddy Piper & Bob Orton Jr. defeated S.D. Jones & George Welles Tito Santana & David Sammartino defeated Greg Valentine & Brutus Beefcake Barry Windham & Mike Rotundo defeated WWF Tag Team Champions the Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff in a non-title match Ricky Steamboat & Jimmy Snuka won a tag team battle royal WWF World Champion Hulk Hogan defeated Paul Orndorff

    Bulldogs vs Hart Foundation

The one on that tape has Dynamite hit a diving headbutt behind the referee's back on Bret. They had a great match from the Boston Gardens which is featured on the Hart Foundation tape.

    The Raw Review

Yeah, it's the same guy. All right cool...when I was researching the results I found three different sources and only one them listed Tajiri and the other two just had a "?" mark. Guess maybe his name was never announced. Dude, feel free to use my research. It's about 99.999995% correct.

    WWE FROM THE VAULT

I like HBK but my favorite era of his was 92-94. If I don't get early HBK matches against Jannetty, Bret, or freaking Virgil - then I don't know if I want it.

    WWF Face-to-Face

I used to love those because they'd hype upcoming house show cards in the area.
