They know the consequences. If they want to do it, they're going to do it. And I don't know if there is a way to get rid of 100% of drug abuse in ANY sport - especially wrestling.

Those shots are great - especially Jericho / HBK.

1. Junkyard Dog 2. they're all black ... lol ... um, they all were successful in other sports before entering pro wrestling 5. Mary Tyler Moore 6. the Genius 7. Harley Race? 8. Doug Furnas 9. Elvira? 10. Curt Hennig ... aaaand ... damn, my AWA knowledge blows

The university paper ran a Buffy story this morning I wrote up, hyping the show itself as well as the series finale. I had e-mailed a more polished version to the section editor on Monday but she doesn't check her mail very often so... I think it works well anyway. http://www.thetartan.com/vnews/display.v/A...1/3e89dfedeebd2

I'd have to say Good Will Hunting. Great acting, the soundtrack mixes well with the grungy atmosphere, the story is simple yet very moving, and Affleck / Damon's screenplay helped motivate me to be a writer. Honorable mention to Braveheart and Office Space.

I thought Brock / Angle was good but, to tell you the truth, I was too exhausted from the previous 3:30 hours to fully appreciate it. I'd say HBK / Jericho was MOTN.

The Hobbit cartoon used to scare the shit out of me as a kid. Well, it didn't scare me per say but it was very disturbing. Never saw the second but in pieces.

Nice shots. Question: Did they give the fans crap about camera use? They gave me so much crap at a Raw ep last August that I had to take my camera back to the car. I'm thinking about going to NYC for next year's but I need to get my suped up camera in - otherwise it's not as fun.

Diesel ... I remember him. Wait, wasn't he that guy that was champ during one of the worst years EVER? Weren't his main challengers Jeff Jarrett, Psycho Sid, Mabel, and a years-passed-washed-up King Kong Bundy?

Okay, if blaming Bret for the kick that ended his career isn't enough - Goldberg used to trash the WWF, saying he would never work there because of their horrible storylines and their cheap attempts at ratings. After all, Goldberg is a man of integrity. He would never allow that to be compromised.
-
Corkey, right? I'll say it again, and it needs saying since some people still "don't get it". Goldberg did NOT end Bret's career, he was a part of an accident. What ended Bret's career was allowing him to work injured before the match, and making him work AFTER the match for weeks, taking hit to the head after hit to the head, by Funk at times I believe of all people. Bret Hart himself has stated that it IS NOT Goldbergs fault, but rather, everyone in power of WCW for forcing him to go out there even though he knew he shouldn't. My beef with Goldberg stems mostly from him blaming the spot on Bret.

Yay, multiple critiques of WrestleMania! I don't know how I would form an opinion on the show without them.
-
Goldberg = tard. He's like the kid with down syndrome on that old ABC show 'Life Goes On' (let's see if anyone remembers that ... I doubt it). If he can put guys over, then yeah - I'm all for it. If he's just going to come in and further bury guys who deserve elevation - then fuck him and his Bret Hart-killing ass.
-
We all know that WWE tournaments can be readily and often are rigged. Interesting that Bret was "allowed" to win - although he is very much deserving.
-
He was great as a PPV guy and WWF Superstars commentator in 90-91. Not sure how he'd fly today.

1. Hillbilly Jim 2. Savio Vega 3. Barry Windham 5. They all have relatives in the business? I would have said they all have brothers in the biz but that would leave Hogan out...

You guys are reading far too much into things. Yeah, okay, Piper did a segment for Confidential. Does that mean he's going to main event pay-per-views and battle Hogan for the world title? Um...no. Why did people bash Hogan / Piper in WCW? Because the entire company revolved around it. Because Hogan was the world champion. It would not be that way today. Look at Mania - everyone was freaking out because it was assumed by many that Hogan / Vince would be the last match. It wasn't. It was high on the card, yes, because it was a special attraction - but it didn't take anything away from Brock / Angle which rightfully closed the show.

A waste of time? Yes, let's not push the ignored talented stars...

This weekend I picked up used copies of The Insider and Training Day.

I hope you mean 92 and not 97.

I liked the feud on TV. It's nice to see guys competing at a higher level than what they're used to (ala Hurricane / Rock). And how is this more than 5 years old?
-
What's with the Austin hate? Some of you guys are going off on him like his name is Triple H. Austin did a clean job at Mania - which surprised me. I don't personally have a problem with Austin / Bischoff since there is a backstory already there. If he jumps to Smackdown!, great. There are a lot of great talents over there that would see their career elevated a great deal by working with Stone Cold. You guys forget that Austin himself became a name from his feud with Bret Hart. Did he ever beat Bret on TV? No. Did it matter? No. Was anyone saying Austin was Bret's bitch? No. I'm all for him doing the eventual job to a Brock or Benoit, etc but even if he comes out and picks up a few wins I don't see how it kills their heat. To go off on a tangent - Jericho, on the other hand, is a whole different story. He lost to Triple H last year. That was the equivalent of Austin / Hart at Mania XIII. Although I enjoyed the match at this year's Mania a great deal, I believe it would have been better to have Jericho go over in the blowoff (ala Austin / HBK at Mania XIV).

Since everybody else has except for me...

It is a pretty good PPV, especially for the times. It's a very rare occurance when I can watch a 6 or even 10-man tag and not be bored to death. -
Reading the board a few days ago, I got the impression that quite a few posters had tickets. For those who went, did anyone get any decent pics? I'm looking to add to the event photographs I have on my site. There are fan shots from last year's Mania but nothing more recent than November's UK PPV. Anything would be appreciated.

Wrestlemania opinions
cawthon777 replied to rising up out of the back seat-nuh's topic in The WWE Folder
I thought it was quality. Even the lesser matches came across better than I expected. HBK / Jericho stole the show. The only glaring problem I had was Triple H going over Booker. It reminded me of reading a fan's take on attending Bash 98 in Baltimore. Everyone backed Benoit against Booker in the first match. It was Benoit's time. He was ready. ...And he lost. And it killed the rest of the show. Everyone I watched Mania with thought the finish was bullshit. Booker should have won - period. The rest of the show was good to great.
