I have them listed as winning a number of squashes in 89 with a "double team top rope move", which I can only assume is the same finisher.

Both Rhodes left for WCW after the Rumble. Dusty did commentary with JR for Wrestle War 91 and that was 4 weeks after the WWF PPV.

I could see either Orton or Cena taking it, assuming Cena loses the strap to HHH prior to that point. Plus, Cena has last year's incident still in the back of his mind and could use that to further motivate this win.

What year did WWE start to lose their edge?
cawthon777 replied to CBright7831's topic in The WWE Folder
I would agree with that but they've certainly had bright spots since then. -
Scott Norton Vampiro The Equalizer / Dave Sullivan Bunkhouse Buck Sgt. Craig Pittman Loch Ness Prince Iaukea Lash LeRoux Sullivan did work for Vince Sr. as a babyface in the late 70s.

He had a few tryouts in 93 following his WCW stint.

No, I don't believe so. It didn't take the Big 2 very long to start using it themselves.

I think it might have been one match, filling in for Heenan, at Bash at the Beach 94. Okerlund stuck around until the end. I don't recall Heenan's situation. He and Konnan lost to Luger and Nash at SuperBrawl 9. As a result, Mysterio had to unmask. And because he agreed to unmask, he scored a few high profile wins shortly thereafter (Nash, Norton, etc). The 2 hour change came in the spring of 96. Not sure about the 3 hour change but it was probably about the same time in 97. Schiavone & Zbyzsko did the 2nd hour when they went to that format. Mike Tenay and Mark Madden were also used frequently.

Survivor Series 94?ish Question Why HBK in match
cawthon777 replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in General Wrestling
I don't think it was "rape" in the truest sense of the word. I believe the allegation was statutory rape. And when you look at his history with women, it's obvious he likes them young. -
Survivor Series 94?ish Question Why HBK in match
cawthon777 replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in General Wrestling
You know, even if the girl recanted her story I'm still more inclined to believe her rather than Lawler. I seem to remember PWI running a story on it and saying she made it all up after her jealous boyfriend confronted her about going to the Memphis shows instead of spending time with him. Don't take that story to be credible. After all, it was PWI. -
I'm dead tired but just wanted to give an update on what went on at the NWA Fanfest. Charlotte was a blast and I'll be back later with a better recap and some photos but here are a few things off the top of my head ... It cost me $20 for a photo with Bret Hart and it was worth every penny Mark Nulty from Wrestling Classics is a jackass In the event Missy Hyatt is ever on a plane that crashes into a lake, she can use her lips as flotation devices Rob Feinstein molestation jokes never get old I was interviewed by Highspots for a documentary they were doing on the convention ... that was fun I shared an elevator with Bobby Heenan Hardcore wrestling fans are great to hang out with ... there were people there from as far away as Toronto, Japan, and England Standing outside a packed Hooters on the outskirts of Charlotte and watching the main event of Summer Slam was pretty damn fun ... we only caught that one match and that was the only place in the area showing it

It took me long enough but I finally got a page up documenting the weekend. A few new photos as well. http://www.angelfire.com/wrestling/cawthon777/charlotte2.htm

Survivor Series 94?ish Question Why HBK in match
cawthon777 replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in General Wrestling
I think I heard somewhere that had Lawler stayed in the match, HBK would have been one of the knights. Don't know if that's credible or not. The only REAL build to it, and this was after the match had been changed, was Shawn and Rio Rogers making fun of "Stu & Helen" during Survivor Series Showdown 93. In 1992, it was orginally just Bret vs. Shawn in a one-on-one match with no title. ... Then Bret won the world belt ... then Shawn won the IC belt. So the stakes were raised. -

When I was in NYC for WrestleMania 20, they had a huge WWE section set aside. No shirts but a lot of Toys R Us exclusive figures. -

Shawn feels turning heel would make baby Jesus cry. Or conflict with his ‘religious beliefs’. It was one of those. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If Tully Blanchard and Ivan Koloff can be heel and still go to church, Shawn can too.

It started some weeks before the event, and it saw Perfect and Flair on alternate weeks claim that they were offering their services to Warrior or Savage. The storyline was that neither Savage or Warrior really trusted each other, and that Flair and Perfect were playing on that mistrust. It ended at Summerslam when they attacked both Savage and Warrior and showed that they weren't really courting either of them, and were just trying to mess with their minds. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You could make the argument that it ended a few days later when Flair regained the title from Savage, thanks in part to the injuries Savage sustained in that match.

I hope you have a big Weekend Box Office Report

It's either that or the cameo of Kimberly Page's chest. -
Yep.

I'd say the turn was at Judgment Day 98 when Paul Bearer returned and helped Taker against Kane.

Tammy Sytch causes a scene
cawthon777 replied to Prophet of Mike Zagurski's topic in General Wrestling
Having gone to the NWA Fanfest and seeing Tammy, she did seem bored. Missy was really into it and even went to the wrestling matches and Bret's Q&A. If this story is true, and this is the first I've heard of it, that's pretty sad. -
Ask and ye shall receive... http://photobucket.com/albums/a179/Timc197...anFest/?start=0 Those were all taken by a friend of mine. I end up in a handful - page 3 with Bret and the world title replica, the third photo on page 2 in white. Some of the guys have aged a bit so if there are any questions as to who's who, feel free to ask.

What I had signed … As some of you know, I’m a whore for event posters. I brought about a dozen or more to have signed. Bret – Survivor Series 89 (poster includes photos of every talent) and a show promoting him vs. Owen from 94 Heenan – WrestleMania III and Series 89 Valentine – WrestleMania III and Series 89 Atlas – a WWF house show from Nov 83 with him vs. Koloff Patera – WrestleMania IV and a show from Jan 78 with him vs. Backlund Snuka – Series 89 and a show from 84 with him vs. Masked Superstar Masked Superstar – the same poster from 84 and WrestleMania IV Terry Funk – a St. Louis newsletter from the 70s for him vs. Brisco for the title Brisco – the same Dory – the same since he was on the undercard Race – WrestleMania III and IV … he asked me where I got the III poster; was pretty interested in it Missy Hyatt – Beach Blast 92 – she freaked out when she saw it and wanted a copy … I gave the vendor my card in the event she’s really interested Sunny – a Raw taping poster from 97 … Missy was definitely the more enthused of the two; I didn’t see Tammy after her sitting at the table but Missy was at the Saturday night wrestling card and at Bret’s Q&A Cornette – Capital Combat 90 Condrey – the video insert for Starrcade 86 … now the only major signatures I’m missing on it are Flair and the Road Warriors Eaton – Capital Combat 90 The R ‘n’ Rs – Capital Combat 90 … at first they thought it was a movie poster for Robocop 2 since THAT was so prominently featured on the poster Brad Armstrong – Bash 91 … he pointed at the photo of Missy on the poster and asked if he could draw a little arrow to her crotch and write, “I was there” … he later joked that he was just kidding and one was on the few that wasn’t there What I bought … Wow … so much to choose from. Sam Finley, a good friend of mine who is big into merchandise and had a table set up, sold me WrestleMania VI, Summer Slam 96, Tag Team Champions, Biggest, Smallest, Strangest, Strongest!, Ricky Steamboat, and a few others for only $80. I picked up the Classic 5 of 1998 PPV pack, which I got rid of years ago, for only $10 (sealed). Got a WCW Hollywood Blondes DVD comp and a classic WWWF / MSG comp for $15 apiece. And Tucold Video, who are very cool people that happily put my website over, sold me two WWWF tapes from 1978-80 for only $5 apiece (12 hrs total).

From my understanding, he's this way around a lot of people. Moving on ... Started setting up the table around 7:30am on Friday. Brought a lot of Coliseum tapes, WCW pay-per-views, PWI Weeklies, and PWIs to sell. But I wasn’t really there to sell anything – I was just trying to promote my website to a core audience. Brought a stack of business cards and a sample of results from the site. The entire bottom floor of the Hilton was set up for the convention. They had two huge rooms, one for the main autograph stage and the other for most of the vendors, and used the hallways for vendor tables as well. Some of the other vendors included RF, Highspots, Scott Teal (The History of MSG book, etc), Steve Johnson (The History of Tag Team Wrestling book), Sam Finley, Tucold Video, Bill Brown, George Mayfield, and several others. Vendor guests included Tammy Sytch, Missy Hyatt, David Flair, Magnum TA, Dusty Rhodes, Ivory, and Molly Holly, who were all taking photos and signing autographs for a small fee. A lot of guys like JJ Dillon, Race, Dusty, and Terry Funk were singing their books as well. The Fanfest guests included Bret Hart, Jimmy Snuka, Baron Von Raschke, Tony Atlas, Bobby Heenan, Ken Patera, Dick Slater, Ole Anderson, JJ Dillon, Paul Jones, Gary Hart, Ox Baker, Brad Armstrong, Jim Cornette, George South, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express, Bobby Eaton & Dennis Condrey, Terry & Dory Funk Jr., Harley Race, Jack Brisco, and several others. All those guys had scheduled times during the weekend where they were in the main room at the autograph table signing whatever the fans wanted for free. The days were very long with me sitting at the table from 10 till 6, or 12 to 4 while at the same time running in the main room to get autographs myself. Thankfully I had a good group of friends there who didn’t mind watching the table while I was elsewhere. Will be back with more later …
