I believe the flashback in 'Selfless' was from the first night - when Buffy was out in the graveyard.

What match do you credit with making you a smark?
cawthon777 replied to a topic in General Wrestling
I had been hardcore into guys like Bret, Owen, Benoit, Perfect, Flair, Guerrero for years but - again - I didn't become a "smart" until January 98 when I got the net. I just HAD to get all the news on Montreal from every perspective imaginable. That REALLY smartened me up. -
That wasn't such a bad match. I remember watching that and knowing Duggan didn't have a chance in hell of winning the title - but I had to question that from time to time. The lumberjack rematch was pretty decent too.

I'm not sure what they'll do about Amidala. It would insanely suck if they killed her off to put Anakin over the edge. That would be horrible and riots would ensue. You just don't kill Natalie Portman. I've heard that she's filming / has filmed scenes for the Return of the Jedi special edition DVD (in flashback scenes). I LOVED Ep. II. I was okay but lacked depth (and a script). II made up for it with the theme of looming evil and the love affair. As far as how Ep. III will end... It's been well documented that Sam Jackson is going to bite the dust in a bad ass fight scene. I'm going to assume that will be with Anakin / Vader. Jar Jar must die as well. It can go like this... "Jar Jar, can you come in here?" "Yessa, Massa Anni" *Jar Jar walks in ... Anakin chops his head off with the lightsaber ... head rolls into camera view, with tongue hanging out and eyes open* I've imagined for years that the final scene will be Anakin getting the helmet - but it should be more to it than that. Luke has to be hidden on Tatooine, Leia has to be hidden with Bail Organa, Yoda has to escape to Daegoba (although that may not need to be shown). Remember, in the film Vader didn't learn about Leia until RotJ - so he's obviously not around when Amidala gives birth. I heard that James Marsters from BTVS may get to play a young Moff Tarkin which would completely rule the school.

They did indeed cut out quite a bit from the original UPN version. I had the TV on in the background as I was making dinner last night and more than a few times said "...Wait a minute! That's how how it went!" It was little things but noticable still. The full version is available on Kazaa and WinMX. I actually have the OMWF promo poster in my apartment, via allposters.com.

I don't know if I'd use this incident to show how crappy the WWE is today. The "bullshit" thing was thrown in for shock value - the same reason all the Katie Vick and Al Wilson stuff was used. Bret had no problem with it because he was told that part wasn't going to be televised. But it was - basically because the WWF had to dig themselves out of the hole WCW put them in.

I don't see the appeal to the Almanac now. I saw the appeal in 96 when the first came out and I snatched it up but since then just about all that info can be found online for free.

Angle. I got into wrestling in 92 right around the WrestleMania timeframe. By the early part of the summer my two favorites were the British Bulldog and Bret Hart. The buildup to Summer Slam hooked me in and made me a full-time fan. Watching the match on CHV a few months later blew my 11 year old mind.

1. Jerry Lawler 2. Bad News Brown 3. I'm confused what you mean by that. Any French horn theme? Or do you mean the King theme used by Race, Haku, Lawler, etc? 5. the Bolshevicks 6. Scott Putski 7. Mr. Saito and Prof. Tanaka 8. no one ... Koko wasn't at that show 9. Sgt. Slaughter 10. Bret Hart and Randy Savage

I've seen the show but both prowrestlinghistory.com and American Wrestling Trivia - http://www.softwolves.pp.se/wrestling/ - credit Tito as the #1 man in the match. Jose Estrada

2. Tito Santana ... they interviewed him prior to, I believe, the 99 Rumble about being #1 in the first ... Bret was #2

Bret's not leading the invasion?

Okay, this was Rey's WWE debut. WWE.com did an interview with him just prior to it and mentioned the fact the Raw brand was in his hometown of San Diego during the same time. Anaheim, California - Arrowhead Pond - June 16, 2002: Rey Mysterio Jr. pinned Chavo Guerrero, Jr. They had a second match the following night in Fresno.

It needs to be done and I'm glad it is. The future will always be uncertain but I'm optimistic.

There had to be more to it than that. They usually taped a good 3-4 weeks worth in one night. I barely remember anything else if there was anything else since I was 7 then. Found it. When it comes to WrestleMania, just be a kid again. Sit back, enjoy the show, get caught up in the matches and the drama and the excitement of the historic event. WrestleMania VIII may not be the most technically sound show but it's my favorite WM of all time. Not because the matches were 4 star or there were storylines behind every match - but because it was fun. It was exciting. It was dramatic. You didn't know what was going to happen next. In the time of the internet, spoilers run rampant and rumors to everything regarding what you'll see next week to what you'll see next year are the rule rather than the exception. It has made me jaded, far moreso than when I was simply a 12 year old kid that was picky about whom he cheered for. Yeah, we all know how the business works. We know why things are done the way they are. We are more critical of the product than anyone else. But if we can't get past that and enjoy the best show of the year - what can we enjoy? I'm not saying the WWE has been on top all year - but I do understand where the author is coming from and I agree with it. ...Although I'm going to hate Triple H regardless if I'm a smart or a smart pretending to be a mark.
-
I tend to be a lot more entertained when I distance myself from the internet news and rumors and workrate and opinions of people I've never met and, in theory, may not even exist. I think that's the point of the piece.
-
That's a lot of words to read but it sounds good to me. Don't be a sheep. Just take the stick out of your ass and enjoy the freaking show.

History can be rewritten at any moment.

He doesn't have to wrestle. All he has to do is appear, do a little rap, maybe a run-in, etc. Cena has what it takes to get to the next level. He's on the verge of becoming what the Rock was in 97-98.

"Well I wanted Stone Cold but ... this is fine ... and you are?" "I'm Rosey from 3 Minute Warning, little man! You know - 'Three minutes and we're outta here...'" "...Oh, so that's you? Hmmm. " Me, I'd want the Hitman.

A fellow northern Virginian; nice to see. I'm from Woodbridge and have spent a lot of time around that general area. Currently going to college right outside Roanoke. I came across a bootleg copy of the 2nd day of Crockett Cup a few years back - complete with a lot of unaired backstage footage from the George Michael Sports Machine. Classic show. The Baltimore Arena may not be the nicest facility out there, but it's historic for sure.
