That's debatable. Also his religious affiliation is irrelevent, it's his mingling of religion and governing that pisses others off. 1) By religion I don't mean something that's forced upon you by a church. I'm saying a belief in a higher power or some sort of spiritual faith. I don't see how that can be a bad thing. 2) Presidents have incorporated religion into their polocies for ... since the whole America thing started. "In God We Trust", "Under God...", etc. He's not breaking any new ground here.

It was Saddam. ...Fairly certain.

Everyone's saying "He has an opinion, he has a right to express it like that." So I'm saying is, you'd support his right to white supremacist crap in his speeches too, if he were to use them? Racism doesn't unite America, but neither does Religion. Well, one (religion) is a good thing and the other (racism) is bad. We as a people like religion in general ... we don't like racism. Bush doesn't go on TV and say "You have to do this, this, and this to go to heaven." What he says is broad. He talks about God. Most religions have a higher being - therefore what he says is pretty much all encompasing. He appears at all the religious ceremonies around December ... it's not like he's some holier-than-thou Christian who thinks he's better than everyone else. I didn't think I'd really have to break it down like that, but there you go...

Earth logic might say otherwise but to each his own.

Ok, then I hope you respect and feel the same way if Bush started layering his speeches with racial White Supremacist dogma. I mean, he's white, and a majority of American's are white. WTF is that, troll logic? What does someone's religion have to do with hate speech? Let's work on analogies that make sense.

Uhm. LOL? He wasn't an American anymore. He fought for the ruler of the country he was a citizen of: Afghanistan. Do you have this kind of resentment toward any soldier or any patriotic citizen of any country that has ever fought the United States? Or is it merely because the media paraded his ass around on a silver platter, shouting, "This man betrayed America! This man joined the terrorists! He is a traitor!"? If you're that gullible and that easy to sway in opinion, then I honestly feel sorry for you. God, you had best pray that your ideas don't become unpopular then. Hey enthusiastic critical guy, what's up? Lindh is a traitor. He is a stupid kid that caught up in something he didn't understand. Maybe the media portrayed him as betrying the US because he did? Let's see ... priviledged young American from California goes over to Afganistan and supports a regime that wants to destroy America. Now I don't have my graduate degree yet or anything so don't laugh too hard if I get out of line here ... but isn't that being a traitor?

It's not a very good paying job

How much did Taker pay you to defend him against the smarks? I could use a good paying job myself.

...And?

Then call me apalling.

I believe Saddam protested the use of U.S. U2 spy planes over Iraq.

I like to think of myself as the guy that created the term "anti-anti-war" ... then I go to Fox News.com and it's plastered all over the place.

I would think that flashing would be a pretty normal thing - being that it is Panama City and it is Spring Break... And to think, I spent my freshman year of high school there. Too young to enjoy any of it. Move about a mile north and you're in the bible belt

Hey Superman (re: avatar sig), Yes, the uber bible thumpers are not my favorite folk either. Thankfully, they aren't running the country.

You know, every time I read the title of this thread I think "Mortal Kombat." The two t-shirt guys should have been Johnny Cage and Sub Zero...

And I was there live. I have the video and still spot my geeky 14 year old self jumping up 10 rows back. lol I'm jealous. The 93 edition had so much intrigue going into it that every tournament thereafter lacked. You had Bret Hart who had just been robbed of the world title after 5 months of beating everyone on the roster. This was his chance to either bounce back or fall further down the rankings ... Lex Luger and Tatanka were both undefeated - Luger had been knocking people out left and right (including Bret) while Tatanka had picked up a big win over HBK a few months prior ... Bam Bam Bigelow had just begun his feud with Tatanka and prior to that had dominated just about everyone he got in the ring with ... Razor Ramon was looking to redeem himself after the Rumble loss to Bret as well as the humiliating defeat to the 1-2-3 Kid on Raw ... Jim Duggan was more of a sentimental favorite since he had recently returned to action after almost being forced into retirement at the hands of Yokozuna ... Mr. Perfect was in the midst of a great rivalry with Shawn Michaels and also looking to redeem himself after a tough loss to Luger at WrestleMania ... Mr. Hughes had brutally beaten the Undertaker and Paul Bearer on WWF Superstars just 1 day before the tournament, stealing the urn in the process and putting Taker on the shelf until August. The only guys here that, from my naive 11 year-old perspective, didn't have a chance were Duggan and Razor. Everyone else was fair game. Bret and Perfect were my two picks.

Just a minor thing - Haku was given the title of King by Bobby Heenan when Race was out with an injury in 88. Other non-televised KOTR winners were Don Muraco (85, the first) and Bret Hart (91).

One less threat to worry about. Brings democracy into the Arab world. Frees up a lot of oil money.

Maybe this was a special addition to his sentence? I hope rape isn't in there too.

Bush is in a no-win scenario here. We attack Iraq. People say he's only doing it to appease his dad (which is the lamest reason ever to go to war but some have claimed it to be a reason so whatever) ... or we're going to war for oil (again, pretty lame reason to risk American lives) ... or we're going because Saddam is a bad guy and we have to protect ourselves (better reason) ... or we're going to free the Iraqi people (another good reason). I've heard from Bush's speech writer that one of his goals before he took office was to take out Saddam. That didn't necessarily mean via military means - but he saw it as something that could no longer be ignored. Clinton dropped a few bombs here and there but that didn't stop anything so Bush was going to take it to the next step. We can argue his intentions all day long ... but I don't think he's doing this for personal gain. The Bush Administration - especially Bush, Powell, and Rusmfeld - have portrayed themselves to me as people of convictions and I don't see any of them as the types that would send Americans to war and risk their lives without a damn good reason. As far as Vietnam, I don't think the same of LBJ.

Whoa, let's not forget Australia here. We've backed and supported every step the US an UK have taken. There's a BIG interest in Iraq all over the country. We appreciate it.

Hi, Conspiracy Theory - how are you?
-
Oh, I sure wouldn't be humping Gore's leg - but if he could help put a bullet between Saddam's eyes then I'd give him brownie points. I'm not a fan of Big Brother so if this Patriot Act starts personally pissing me off, I won't hesitate to cry fowl.

I don't buy that for a minute. Who said he wasn't provided new information? Powell is privy to a LOT of evidence that we and the media are not. If he didn't believe in what he preached, he wouldn't have spoken in front of the UN several weeks ago. What is the White House going to pressure Powell into doing? He's one of the most respected and experienced members of Bush's cabinet. Yeah, I can really see George W. shaking his fist in defiance and threatening to beat up Powell on the White House lawn if he doesn't go along with their plan of world dominance.

I'm a Republican and I think this should have been taken care of more than 10 years ago. So there goes that theory...
