Clinton ignored him, plain and simple. Bush Sr. wanted him gone but then we got the anti-military president who didn't do a thing following the bombing of the Twin Towers in 93, the USS Kohl, etc. George W made Saddam a target from the moment he was elected. That may not have meant he wanted to use military force - but he knew it was a situation that could no longer be ignored. Then came 9-11. It's not that Bush is out to get Saddam for his own selfish purposes - it's that the previous administration refused to deal with the problem.

Sure it's a relevant issue. Do I think we can protect the environment and further our oil exploration? Yes. Alaska has about zero noticable pollution problems and yet look at all the oil that is pumped out of there.
-
That would make this whole situation so much more entertaining.
-
That's a great theory. Let's just sit on our ass and see what he comes up with. He hasn't done anything prior to now so that obviously means he's not a threat. Wake up.

Olaf the Troll to the villagers: Come here, you are small and toy-like!

I went to high school in Alaska. The state sells so much oil to companies like BP that each resident gets an annual check for approx. $1200 (and it gets higher every year). It's called the Permanent Fund. As long as you are a resident for a full calendar year, you get a check - regardless of age. There are a lot of untapped resources in America that the Dems are afraid to let us use for fear of polluting the environment. From a federal use standpoint, Alaska is one such resource.

It's a no-win situation. What's better - to risk the lives of the American people, especially the soldiers that are going off to fight for their country - or to get the tar beaten out of you in the media? I'm glad I'm not the president. Bush will hit those targets, without a doubt. What other choice does he have?

Affirmative Action does not level anything, it just makes someone else the victim. As far as seeing people as equals, the law does that. If a small group of people continues to preach hate and racial bias, well AA won't change that. People like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton use this policy to make themselves richer and their cause bigger. "Oh, you only hired 10 black people last month? Pay me $50,000 or I'm going to the media and I'll verbally rape you on every news channel there is." "You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong You cannot help the wage-earner by pulling down the wage-payer You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves" - Abraham Lincoln Thought I might include that.

Either that or heart. Although he does a much better job of using it than the Indian kid with the monkey in Captain Planet.

My take on that is I frankly loathe the political correctiveness that has entrenched itself in this culture. We have to watch what we say so no one is offended, we can't refer to African Americans as black, people aren't small - they're vertically challenged, etc. Add that with the bleeding hearts' stance that we are all responsible for slavery and killing the Indians (or Native Americans as I should say) and destroying the cultures of everyone that lived here before the Europeans moved in. ...I don't remember doing any of that.

I think Mad Dog's definition is more accurate. After all, prejudice against caucasian would just be racism, not reverse racism. I was speaking specifically about this country.
-
Could you elaborate on this? What exactly does it mean to be pro-military? I mean, wouldn't everyone who wanted the US to have a military be pro-military? Or do you mean you support a strong military? Strong military. Being that I grew up in a military household, I'd much rather have an administration in power that understands the importance of a strong military and can appreciate those who do risk their lives in order to keep our country free. What I don't support is shutting down military base after military base just because we aren't at war. *cough cough* like the Clinton administration did *cough cough*

Question: what exactly IS reverse racism? Wouldn't reverse racism mean NO racism? Just asking. Reverse racism is a term describing caucasians being the ones who are the victims of racism rather than the oppressors. I didn't come up with it myself.
-
Affirmative action is reverse racism, it does more harm than good, and it causes resentment from other groups not getting the preferencial treatment. Yes, ethnic groups have gotten the shaft at one time or another - but does that mean it's okay for caucasions to get the shaft in return, and have it be protected by law? "Oops, sorry you didn't get the job you wanted and that it went to a hispanic person. Maybe you should have thought about that before people you never met treated ethnic groups poorly." Yeah, that's fair.

I'd suggest not taking an Internet writer's opinion and memory as truth. I've never once heard about Hogan de-pushing Steamboat. I've never once heard Steamboat say anything bad about Hogan. The only reference to Hogan I've heard him talk about is that he often main evented the B house shows while Hogan main evented the A house shows, which is for the most part true. While Hogan had guys like Orndorff or Bundy, Steamboat took on Muraco and Savage in the main events. According to Steamboat's interview on the LAW a couple of years ago, what happened is that shortly after WrestleMania III his wife was set to give birth and he wanted to take time off. Not a lot of time, just a few weeks. So he asked Vince and, to Steamboat's surprise, Vince felt he should drop the title before doing so. Considering Steamboat would have been back in time before the next TV taping, he didn't see why it was such a big deal that he drop the belt - but he went along with it. Then the following year at WrestleMania IV, Steamboat assumed he would go over Valentine in the opening round of the world title tournament and then lose to Savage in the next round as payback for WrestleMania III. To his, and everyone else's, surprise he was jobbed out in the first round and went into semi-retirement. As far as Savage being punished and being "jobbed out" - that's completely off. Check my own archives from 87, which are very detailed. The only people Savage jobbed to in 87 was Steamboat post-WM III and Hogan. He won KOTR, dominated George Steele, and remained a mid carder right on the verge of main eventer. If anything, Savage took a big step up after WrestleMania III.

<--- Foley. Apparently I'm a retard but people are too nice to tell me so to my face. But on the upside, I "mean well". In the words of Bill O'Reilly - "I'm sorry, Senator ... but I'm not buying it!"

Trolly was the little train that would go into the fucked up puppet world, which I wasn't a huge fan of either. Some of those puppets looked pretty demonic. Mr. Rogers would talk to Trolly and Trolly would respond with "ding ding" and somehow Mr. Rogers knew exactly what it was saying.

I always thought Trolly stole the show. ding ding chuga chuga chuga ding ding

!!!!! That requires second viewing!

That's def how it is in the college scene. Although I have the advantage since about 2% of students at my school watch AND understand the news.

Well put. If we lived in fantasy land, it would be easy to have no enemies. But we don't ... so we do. You reading this, Sheryl Crow?

These guys do a lot of barking but ultimately they want our aid and they won't get it if they bite as well.

Cawthon777, just for the sake of arguement, you don't think the media coverage of War will change? Especially if we start taking heavy casualties? I don't underestimate the capabilities of Iraq, but I sure as hell don't overestimate them either. Once the war actually begins, it won't last long. The only problem is getting to that point.
-
I saw it today as well. Loved the foreshadowing. "You have no idea what's coming." And Buffy and Tara seeing that it was 7:30 in the bedrom. "counting down from 7-3-0" - Faith in Graduation Day Part 2 ... also counts as 2 full years which is the time between that ep and when Buffy died When Doc looks at his watch in The Gift and says "Looks like it's getting to be that time." ... guess what time is shown on his watch? If the final ep has ANYTHING featuring 7:30, I'm going to flip out.

War against Iraq won't change much, especially not me personally. War against terror? That's a much bigger problem with much more significant consequences. There's a little part of me that goes "awww, crap" when I watch the news and hear about Iraq and North Korea and all these sleeper cells around the world - but I'm confident in the people whose jobs it is to keep this country safe. Maybe that's me being naive, but it's a lot more enjoyable than me being uber paranoid all the time.
