What I meant by that, if it wasn't clear, was that O'Reilly has both conservative and liberal values. He's just a very opinionated moderate. I don't really see Tony Snow as an "outspoken" conservative personality on the network, although yes he does share those values. As far as guests, the only conservative guests that appear without some sort of liberal opposition would be the military analysts. And they don't really comment on politics.

Not even casual fans understand the difference between North American, Puro, and Lucha styles. It will never be brought up on the Factor. On top of that, is the death rate the same in Japan or Mexico as it is here? Not from what I can tell. To everyone that is not a fan or does not at least respect pro wrestling, it will ALWAYS be "fake". You can't take that word out of others' vocabularies. When it comes to media, it's best that wrestling keeps a low profile. Otherwise, it's just going to catch flack for things that it has little or no control over (little kids killing other little kids, etc). As much as I respect O'Reilly, he has the same mindset towards wrestling as every other journalist out there - it serves no purpose and kills brain cells. Although, to give credit where credit is due, I thought Larry King did a wonderful interview with Bret and Martha Hart the day of Owen's funeral. Larry actually seemed knowledgeable about Bret's history and asked some very intelligent questions.

I don't see where you get the communism thing. It's a capitalist network if I ever saw one. It's still more moderate than channels like Fox News or MSNBC. I'll give you MSNBC for sure. From what I can tell, CNN has cleaned up itself over the past couple of years and moved more towards the middle. I stopped watching it quite a while back due to its catering towards the bleeding-heart demographic that I don't really fit into.

Well I'm not about to break out the calculator and determine to what degree each channel is moderate. This is my personal opinion. Now then, to answer your question... James Carville and Paul Begala. In addition, the only "outspoken, loudmouth" journalists at Fox are Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity - and O'Reilly is about as conservative as a Jesse Ventura. In both cases, their show requires them to speak their mind - it's not about reporting news.
-
This is what I said ... "Sure, I'll buy into the fact that Fox is a tad on the conservative side but they are a lot more moderate than any other channel out there." ...And people think conservatives are intolerant. I voice my opinion, back it up, and get called a moron for my efforts.

I've admitted Fox is slanted to the right from the very beginning.

I've never got that vibe from the site. "In reporting on Secretary of State Colin Powell's February 5 presentation to the United Nations Security Council, many journalists treated allegations made by Powell as though they were facts. Reporters at several major outlets neglected to observe the journalistic rule of prefacing unverified assertions with words like "claimed" or "alleged." This is of particular concern given that over the last several months, many Bush administration claims about alleged Iraqi weapons facilities have failed to hold up to inspection. In many cases, the failed claims-- like Powell's claims at the U.N.-- have cited U.S. and British intelligence sources and have included satellite photos as evidence." Sounds like the French to me. "Oh, those silly Americans ... always causing trouble. They probably staged 9/11 just to give them an excuse to attack Iraq. Look at all this evidence they faked. Wow, a lot of effort went into these."
-
Because it's all about communism?
-
Mmhmm, I read it. It was easy to pick up the anti-government, conspiracy theory theme of the site.
-
Slanted toward the right, sure, but he doesn't play favorites. He'll call Bush out on something just as easily as he would a Kennedy.

Carter???? Carter????

After looking at that site, it seems like "Fair" is simply the name of the site and nothing more. They use sources like the New York Times, PBS, Newsweek, the LA Times, and the Washington Post yet denounce Fox for it's biased nature? Hmm, that's fair (sarcasm). And Scott Ritter works for them? They just lost all credibility. He must be doing pretty well financially if he's on the payroll of both this site AND Iraq.

I have that at home. Just checked the match listing. It's not that bad for the times - especially what you're paying for it. There are two Mr. Perfect bouts on there - one against Von Erich in Toronto and another against Jake the Snake.

It would be like The Fugitive meets the Incredible Hulk ... only with guitar and british accent. In my best Comic Book Guy accent "BEST SHOW EVER!"

LOL I'm stealing that and using it in daily conversation.

I liked it. Then again, I liked the entire year of 97 in regards to WCW. Let's see... Flair's first match back since September 96, in his hometown of Charlotte. Very hot crowd for the main event of Flair / Piper / Greene vs. the Wolfpac. Regal retakes the TV title from Ultimo Dragon in front of a very pro-Regal crowd (thought you might like that one). Jarrett vs. Malenko in a very good bout for the U.S. title. More buildup in the DDP / Savage feud which led to their GAB 97 bout. Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. a Japanese wrestler I'm not familiar with. Good match. Chris Benoit vs. Meng in a complete brawl. And Benoit could make Meng look like gold. The Steiners vs. Konnan & Hugh Morrus as Rick & Scott continue chasing a title shot.

Personally, I don't think this topic is anything new. Which is what bothers me even more ... could this be the media just regurgitating this story because it's so easy to point fingers? "Let's do a story on bashing wrestling. That always gets ratings." Phil Mushnick did a story on Pillman right after he died. Then Cornette went off on him on Raw. Owen died and the mass media threw up their hands in protest of wrestling (as did I for a time). Nothing will change in the industry. And do we even know what Hennig died of? Isn't this whole story jumping the gun a bit?

You're welcome to check out my site. I certainly don't have all the CHV but I have a good amount with pretty detailed finishes.

As I remember, it began with Rocky and Mark Henry laying out Triple H with Rock making sexual advances towards Chyna afterwards. DX didn't make the save because they had been barricaded in their dressing room backstage - it was a set-up for Triple H and Chyna. I actually believe Shawn Michaels made the save for Chyna instead of the absentee-DX in that one.

I know this is a major longshot, but...
cawthon777 replied to Mecha Mummy's topic in General Wrestling
If you want to get technical, he actually beat him 3 times. 1) Superstars where he pinned Skip with a cradle as Skip was doing push-ups 2) a few weeks later when Skip said Horowitz couldn't last 10 minutes in the ring with him. He did last 10 minutes and, according to the rules, won the bout. 3) Summer Slam -
That was CLASSIC - and still one of the most hardcore things I've seen in wrestling. As I remember, Jake had squashed a jobber on Superstars and afterwards grabbed the mic and turned his attention to Savage. Savage was hot at Jake for ruining his wedding reception at Summer Slam and since Sid Justice had been taken out of Survivor Series with an injury, Randy was hoping to get reinstated and take his spot. Roberts kept going at Savage while Vince and Piper tried to cool him down. Eventually, Jake said something about his manhood (called him chicken, something along those lines) and Macho snapped. He ran in the ring and Jake caught him offguard right from the start.

To sway moderates - which is what most of the nation consists of. It also implies that the other networks are not fair and balanced - which makes Fox distinctive.

FX rerun today = Buffy & Riley Sex Fest '00 = WRONG Although it does feature the awesome 'Giles singing and playing guitar in the coffee shop' scene.
