    Gangs of New York...

I thought it was awesome and glad to see they're FINALLY using the U2 song in the TV ads.

A Conversation with the Honky Tonk Man

Honky's an interesting guy and, like so many other former / big stars, the world revolves around him. I downloaded Piper's shoot on Honky off Kazaa (originally shown on Piper's website either this month or last). Runs about a half hour long and most of it is Piper disproving Honky's allegations regarding an indy show in Washington about a year and a half ago. If anyone remembers, Honky pulled out of the show at the very last minute and he immediately started placing blame on Piper for this and that and everything else. Piper's rebuttal is classic Roddy ... with the sophomoric insult jokes, making fun of the fact that Honky's suit is being stretched out by his big gut, stating that he's pretending to be a guy who's been dead for 30 years, etc. Very interesting.
  3. I think he worked indys after leaving the WWF in 95. Probably retired by now.

    Your opinion

It would depend on the condition. If you're selling in bulk and to a friend, no more than $1.50 to $2 apiece.

    Highlander

Bull from Night Court didn't quite scare me as a villian. He bothered me, just didn't scare me. The series had many pseudo-famous character actors seen in a dozen other TV shows. Joan Jett does a guest spot in one of the early episodes and Roger Daltry becomes a regular towards the end of the 1st season. Although there are some down points with the films / series, Queen's "Princes of the Universe" always sucks me in. Very cool badass, sword-fighting, head-chopping music. Not sure when (maybe season 2?), but they had a great episode where Duncan's girlfriend Tessa (the french chick) gets killed off after a drive-by. Richie was killed too - but that's where he and the audience find out that he is actually an immortal. The end of the episode used Kansas' "Dust in the Wind". Bloody awesome. It's clear from the first episode of the series that they're forshadowing the fact that Ducan and Conner already know what Richie is - even if he doesn't.

    How has Wrestling Influenced You?

<---- Journalism major myself I got into Jimi Hendrix big back in 97 because of Hogan and the nWo. Bought a 'Best of' CD, took it to college with me, had it stolen, and have yet to find another copy anywhere. In addition, wrestling has gotten me into some classic rock (AC/DC - Highway to Hell, ZZ Top - La Grange; Dustin Rhodes & Barry Windham's theme song), a lot of the early-mid 90s grunge and alternative rock (ECW), and even some of the current stuff (Our Lady Peace, Kid Rock, etc). I had been exposed to the music before but it wasn't until I heard it on a regular basis that I started liking it.

    Mortal Kombat

When the first movie came out, I just sat back and though to myself "Well that's ... stupid." Sorry, I'm just not very likely to jump onboard and get behind a video game movie - especially after Super Mario Bros. and Street Fighter. That and I didn't really buy into all the hype surrounding Mortal Kombat when it first came out. I've seen the first on TV; it wasn't all that bad. I didn't stick around to watch the second in its entirety but Johnny Cage being killed off right from the start was pretty shocking.
  8. Anyone would be over if given the same push as Brock. Have someone tear the Hardy Boyz in half, walk through the KOTR, destroy Hulk Hogan, pin the Rock clean for the world title, and beat Taker clean in HIAC ... yeah, they'd be over.

HHH ENGANGED TO BE MARRIED TO STEPH

The end of days has begun. Brace yourselves for armageddon (the non-Jerry Bruckheimer kind).

    Goldberg photo on WWE.com

The most interesting thing Goldberg ever did was turn heel. Maybe now we can get that face Steiner / heel Goldberg blowoff that I've been waiting for. Kill, Scott, kill.

    A Question About...

This goes back to the days when PPV matches were determined by who you had been feuding with - not who was the logical top contender. Martel was working in Europe at the time, he didn't come back until just a few weeks before the Rumble itself. ...At least that was the story given. He might have been working in Japan as well. Dibiase was still in his feud with Virgil and was about to move on to Santana. IRS was working with the Bossman. Actually, the Mountie was pretty deserving. This was most likely their blowoff match to a 3-4 month feud that involved the Mountie electrocuting Bret durng the fall (threw water on him, used the shock stick). He had scored wins over several of the major midcard faces like the British Bulldog, the Bossman, and Kerry Von Erich. The guy was over. Hell, the Mountie is over with many longtime fans even today.

    Angel Season 1

Anyone else pick this up yet? I believe it was about $45 at Wal-Mart. Longtime Buffy fan but I just got into Angel over the past few weeks. Felt it be best that I start with the beginning since I've only seen "I Will Remember You" from the first season (loved it). Haven't gotten into the special features yet but I saw the first two episodes. Gotta love Joss & Co.'s writing. Question for anyone who's pretty die-hard Buffy / Angel. At the end of the first episode, Angel called Buffy and hung up on her (classic ex behavior). Did that ever appear in a Buffy ep? It would be Season 4 of that series.
  13. The match is from June / July 94, taped shortly after the KOTR. Great match but I don't think the online version is in full. As I remember, Bret scored the pin but had the match restarted for some reason (Kid's foot was on the rope, etc) and immediately thereafter Bret got surprised for a near fall. That's not on the version I downloaded. Quality match. One of the first great technical bouts on Raw.

    Angel

It was basically just Faith hiding out in the shadows, looking all hot and ready to bust ass. "In 3 weeks ... Faith returns ... An all-new Angel on the WB Wednesday night"

    Angel Season 1

Friend of mine made me a copy. I think he got it off eBay.

    Angel

Well I finally got around watching last night's episode and - aside from the HORRIBLE WB signal (despite my "digital cable") - I loved it. The preview of the next ep gave me freaking chills. I mark out for Faith.

    Angel Season 1

I don't know which is worse - the lack of a soundtrack or the fact that the vamps turn into a big pile of sugar?

    A Question About...

Bret was supposed to face the Mountie. I don't believe Piper would have ever entered into the title scene had this whole contract issue not come up.

    Wrestling's great exaggerations

I swear, when Bischoff claimed he wanted someone on Raw that could have saved WCW ... I assumed he was talking about Shawn Michaels - not Triple H.

    Wrestling's great exaggerations

Triple H being referred to as the Cerebral Assassin and any comparison between he and Ric Flair. I know I've been guilty of the later in years past but I've redeemed myself. "OH MY! What a blow! He must have suffered a broken (insert body part here)!"

    potential No Way Out card

Maybe his depush factors into this, but RVD's work in the ring hasn't been too much to write home about over the past few weeks - especially with his matches involving Kane. When RVD is in the ring with an Eddie Guerrero or Chris Benoit he can look like gold (it's a running theme for Guerrero / Benoit) but when he's stuck working with the two fat Samoans and Kane ... he looks hesitant and off balance. Perhaps I'm just being overly critical since he's the only one I pay attention to during these bouts ... and maybe he's off his step because he's making up for everyone else not being able to pull off a good match to save their life, I don't know. Just my thoughts. And if God (aka Triple H) sees the same things I do, it's even more reason to keep RVD in midcard purgatory.

    D'lo Brown Being Released

That's just it - he WAS getting over. When Raw was in DC about a week ago, there were plenty of pro-D-Lo fans. And plus, the gimmick had just begun - can't expect miracles overnight. I'm not a big D-Lo fan by any means but at least he was making Raw a little more interesting.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 7

Source: E! Online Scattered Buffy & Angel spoilers within ... but nothing huge A Buffy-less "Buffy"? Have Faith by Lia Haberman Feb 11, 2003, 2:15 PM PT Sunnydale's gotta have Faith. After all, someone needs to stand guard over the Hellmouth if the city's original slayer, Buffy Summers, decides to call it a day. A possible Buffy the Vampire Slayer spinoff with the runner-up slayer was the gist of a recent Sci-Fi Wire interview with Christopher Buchanan, president of Mutant Enemy, which produces Buffy and Angel, published on Friday. While nothing's been signed in blood, the production prez confirmed the company was in talks with former regular Eliza Dushku to reprise her role as rogue slayer Faith in the untitled spinoff, saying, "I believe that's something that's being bounced around, along with other things, too." Meanwhile, E! Online's TV maven Kristin confirmed this week that Dushku, who left the series to pursue a movie career (The New Guy anyone?), is currently shooting crossover guests spots for Angel and Buffy this season. Faith will appear in Hell-Ay opposite Angelus on the WB March 5, 12 and 19. She then makes the trek over to Sunnydale for a rumored five-episode run, though the UPN wouldn't spill the details. However, a Web rumor that had Dushku signed to a two-year contract may be premature according to Buchanan. "Certainly, because she's around doing Buffy and Angel, I know there've been discussions," said the Mutant Enemy pres, adding, "We're kind of sitting on our hands until UPN and Fox figure out what they want to do." In fact, announcing the potential Dushku deal may be premature according to a source close to production, who said, "I don't know why Chris Buchanan would be talking about Eliza and a spinoff...it's something that was actually never viable. Maybe they're hoping that by saying it that will make it true?" Chosen One Sarah Michelle Gellar, who's put in seven seasons of blood, sweat and more bloodshedding, is not expected to return after her contract expires at the end of this season. She'll reportedly concentrate on her movie career (Scooby-Doo anyone?). Original reports had creator Joss Whedon handing the stake over to Buffy's little sis, Dawn (Michelle Trachtenberg). More recently, E! Online's Kristin reported news of a Faith-based spinoff after a visit to the set of Angel. When asked about her plans next year Dushku said, "Each year, I say I'm going to go to school next year. And it's inevitable that I'll end up getting my education. But I love working--I'm a worker bee at heart. I love coming here. It's such a stimulus." Dushku joined Buffy and friends in the third season. Together, the double-the-trouble slayers staked their way through Sunnydale's finest bloodsuckers until Faith accidentally killed the town's mortal deputy-mayor and joined the dark side. Faith would later repent but never rejoin the series. The third season also marked Buffy's bloody graduation from high school and the spawning of spinoff series Angel, now in its fourth season on the WB. Buffy moved to the UPN after its fifth season in 2001. Fans of the unrequited lovers separated by destiny and networks will get a chance to see some more crossover action this season as Alyson Hannigan returns to the WB March 19 for a special Angel episode. The move has fueled a rumor that rival netlets UPN and the WB are finally ready to bury their stakes and allow Buffy's undead dreamboy Angel to make an appearance on what could be the series' final episode in May.

Roddy Piper pays tribute to Curt Hennig

As a pop culture nut, I can't help but think of Star Trek II and Spock's death everytime I hear the bagpipe version of "Amazing Grace". McCoy: "He's really not dead ... as long as we remember him."
