Giles the big bad? SACRALIGE! BLASPHEMY!

    The Magnificent 7....

The fact that Rick Steiner was one of the first to be laid out - and I believe Flair was the last - made me think it was Douglas. Douglas was pissed at Steiner for taking his U.S. title and breaking his arm ... and Flair, well ... we know that story.

    shortest ever ***** match?

If we're going to go the brawl route, you can't beat the innovativeness of Cactus / Vader Texas Death Match at Havoc 93. To this day, that is one of the best American hardcore matches I've ever seen.

    OOPS! I did it, again!

Friend of mine sent me a link to the text someone transcribled from the Austin article in Raw magazine. He tears into Triple H pretty good. Basically saying that 2000 was Triple H's year because he went out there and busted his ass to carry the company in Austin's absence. Now all he does is kill a half hour on Raw and the ratings are crap. To paraphrase Austin, Triple H is not where he should be considering all the TV time he gets (another way of saying he's damn overexposed and, regardless of WWE belief, the world does not revolve around that second-rate Ric Flair wannabe). Austin also mentioned that the wrestlers should stay the hell out of the booking meetings (wonder who that was directed to?). Oh, and to just continue the Flair comparisons ... anyone notice what Trip was wearing last week on Raw? 3-piece stuit, big fat black sunglasses, bandage over the forehead, and world title belt buttoned up in his arm. Someone needs to tell the man that this is not 1984 and they were not in the Greensboro Coliseum. And (yes, I know I'm going off on a rant but it's been building for quite some time), anyone catch Confidential this past week and the segment on the Asia tour? Triple H and Flair hanging out at the sumo training center ... and apparently Trip HAD to bring his belt along to show off ...
  5. There is too much potential there not to have a decent, if not short, undercard. Team Angle vs. Eddie & Chavo ... It's too soon to put the gold on the youngsters, so it better not happen at Smackdown. However, keep the rivalry going and have them take the gold at Mania in what could very well be one of the best matches of the night. They've been tearing the house down at recent house shows. Benoit vs. Edge ... Great potential there, although if this were fantasy land where any Raw guy could face any Smackdown guy - I'd have to go with Edge vs. RVD. They had some great champion vs. champion bouts in the later part of 01. And since Edge gets an interpromotional match, so does Benoit. Benoit decapitates Triple H and wins the Raw world title.

    The Magnificent 7....

I assumed it was Shane Douglas.
  7. I would be more interested in an Austin / Rock match ... if Austin didn't win all the previous encounters.

    Slamboree 98

I thought so. It had been building for about 2 months and I think it was one of the best bouts of the night - along with Bret / Flair.

    shortest ever ***** match?

Benoit / Sullivan was great. I'd have to say that the Cactus & Maxx Payne / Nasty Boys match at Spring Stampede 94 outdid the Slamboree bout - IMO.

    shortest ever ***** match?

I don't put a whole lot of stock into what some psuedo-famous PPV reviewer says, but I'd def have to go with Owen / 1-2-3 Kid from KOTR 94. Less than 4 minutes but it's the fastest paced 4-minute match you'll find (especially from the WWF).
  11. British Bulldog, Roddy Piper, Steve Austin, and the Rock. I've been to very few shows but luckily I've been blessed with seeing many of the greats in action. Bret, Flair, HBK, Hogan, Taker, Perfect, Benoit, Malenko, Guerrero, RVD.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 7

Friend of mine forwarded this to me (unsure of the website it was initially posted on, but it's reliable). Spoilers within. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Word is that Sarah Michelle Gellar has pretty much decided not to sign on for another season, so Joss Whedon and Co. are heavily weighing spinoff possibilities--and Faith the Vampire Slayer appears to be the front-runner. There's just one issue, though: Does Eliza want to do it? Last week, I had the pinch-me pleasure of visiting the Angel set, as they taped what looks to be a stunning upcoming episode. (Stay tuned for all the juicy goodness from that visit, including a sitdown with David Boreanaz and Charisma Carpenter.) Both Alyson Hannigan and Eliza were on hand as guest stars, and though I wasn't able to ask specifically about a Faith spinoff, they did offer up a bit of insight. When asked if she still plans on going back to school, Eliza replied: "Each year, I say I'm going to go to school next year. And it's inevitable that I'll end up getting my education. But I love working--I'm a worker bee at heart. I love coming here. It's such a stimulus. When I'm not doing anything, that's when I'm freaking out. I get neurotic and analytical and like, 'I need a shrink!' I'm trying to figure it out. I'm definitely conflicted as to what happens from here." I also asked Eliza if she wants to stay in TV or do more film. "It's been nice working on Angel, because it shoots here in Los Angeles," she said. "I can drive myself to work, then drive home and visit my friends or my brothers. But it's also kind of cool to shoot off and do a movie for three months. You're in, you're out, boom, you get the final product. I don't necessarily love one more than the other. TV can be a long commitment, but at the same time...you never know."Ain't that the truth, sister! So, it looks like we'll just have to wait patiently (grrr, argh!) to find out whether the "conflicted" Eliza is here to slay. As for the rest of the Scoobs, Hannigan mentioned she's "not sure" about the spinoff thing, saying, "It really depends on what it is, and who's involved." But she says James Marsters and Nicholas Brendon would definitely be on board. "Nick is like, 'I'll be a janitor or something!' And I'm, like, "Don't you care what it is? C'mon, Joanie Loves Chachi didn't really work so well.' But he's, like, 'Nope, don't care. I'll be a janitor!' "

    Slamboree 98

Yep, their bout at Uncensored 98 was very well done. Benoit / Raven fought one-on-one for about the last half while DDP played the dead super face laid out in the aisle ... before he did his big comeback, of course. It's on Kazaa if you want it.

    Wrestlefest 91

I hadn't considered that. When I'm able to get my hands on my tapes, I'll def look that over. The Arizona tour was in May. And I believe that was the Harts' last match as a team - until they had one shot against the Nasty Boys in July at MSG.
  15. The Flair / Steamboat camcorder was from March 89 in Landover, MD's Capital Centre. And yeah, feel free to get anything from me you want if I'm on. If it doesn't start up, just message me and I'll start it when I'm around.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 7

Faith is already out, she's just under the Angel action figure line (made by the same people). The only place you can find any of them is on eBay since only so many are made. Not telling how much I paid for Willow ... let's say 2 DVDs worth.

    The Road to Wrestlemania

Here's what I remember. I think I have exact dates and locations on my website. 91 was taped in Orlando in February. It was for a big TV taping (Superstars) but I think most of these were only shown on the TV special. Texas Tornado pinned Ted Dibiase after Virgil tripped Dibiase as he had Von Erich up for a suplex into the ring (later included on WrestleFest 91, I believe) Jake the Snake defeated Kato Hulk Hogan defeated Gen. Adnan WWF Tag Team Champ Bret Hart defeated one of the Nasty Boys WWF IC Champion Mr. Perfect defeated Shawn Michaels via DQ when the Big Bossman interfered (later included on World Tour 91) 1992 had: Shawn Michaels vs. WWF IC Champion Roddy Piper A few classic Hogan matches, since they were hyping his retirement 1993 had: The Undertaker defeated Bam Bam Bigelow via count-out when Bam Bam walked out of the match Kamala pinned Kimchee (blow off) Yokozuna pinned Randy Savage with a belly to belly suplex (big shocker for me ... Yoko ate him up and spat him out) Mr. Perfect pinned Skinner with the Perfect Plex 1994 had: Lex Luger pinned Tom Pritchard with the forearm Crush pinned Bret Hart when Owen ran into the ring and reversed a small package, putting Crush on top WWF World Champ Yokozuna pinned Tatanka with the Bonzai Drop in a non-title match 1995 (renamed Sunday Night Slam) had: Mr. Bob Backlund defeated WWF IC Champ Jeff Jarrett via disqualification when Razor Ramon and the 1-2-3 Kid interfered; after the match, Bret Hart came in as well Bam Bam Bigelow pinned Sionne the Headshrinker Diesel and HBK / Sid had a big interview / confrontation where Shawn cut one of his best promos to date, pretty much convincing me Nash had no chance of holding onto the belt Lex Luger defeated Tatanka in a steel cage match (their blow off match)

    Slamboree 98

I actually thought the show was pretty solid - although the Bischoff / Vince segments were horrible (so was Bischoff issuing the challenge on Nitro in weeks prior to the PPV...even I could see he was desperate for viewers). I'd consider Slamboree 98 to be one of WCW's last better than good pay-per-views of the 90s. The Cruiserweight battle royal / Jericho vs. Malenko ... DDP / Raven in the cage ... Bret / Savage was passable ... Goldberg was still in his pre-world title "cool tough guy" phase ... Eddie / Dragon was good. The good far outweighed the bad - but of course I hardly even think about the tag title main event.

    In Your House 5

Was this the version put on Winter Combat? I haven't seen the actual home video of the entire PPV. I do remember seeing numerous ECW-related stuff in the crowd - since it was held in Hershey, PA. Might be something along those lines.

    Wrestlefest 91

I think it's a pretty good match. I remember the first time I rented the tape, I was about 11 and a die-hard Bret fan. I wasn't too big on the LOD after Animal caught Bret in mid-air and crushed him into the mat for the pin. I THINK the match took place in Las Vegas in the days following WrestleMania VII. I know that the Savage / Martel and Hogan & Warrior / Slaughter, Adnan, Undertaker bouts from that same taping were later put on CHV as well (World Tour 91). But I haven't been able to find info on that particular taping so I don't know for sure. Bret was working a singles match against Ted Dibiase on SNME within a month of WrestleMania, so it's safe to say that the WWF wasted no time making this match happen following the PPV.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 7

Came across an intresting historical tidbit the other day, thought I'd pass it along. Brian Thompson, the guy that played the Judge, Krailik the Vamp (the one Buffy fought on her 18th bday when she didn't have slayer powers), and the Master's right hand man in the pilot - well he was also in Terminator. It's actually a very memorable scene. Remember when Arnold arrives in 1984 and finds the three punk-rocker types...and then kills all three and takes their clothes? Well, Thompson was the guy who tried using a knife and instead had his heart removed. Bill Pullman was another of the punkers who met an untimely demise.

What did you think of Tatanka?

He was alright, kinda bland though. But it's true, Heenan got a lot of material out of that character. Ludvig Borga was hella cooler than Tatanka anyway. Although, in retrospect, I too was crushed by his humiliating pinfall loss. BTW, he was only undefeated on TV before the Borga match. During 92, he lost some bouts to Martel at house shows (I know house shows "don't count" but it's an interesting tidbit).
