  1. You can also find the match on Crockett Cup 87. They have a short "Best of Magnum" segment, since he was forced to retire shortly prior to the event. Not sure but I believe it's in full. The segment also features his U.S. title win over Wahoo McDaniel in a cage, a U.S. title defense against Kamala during (I believe) Bash 85 (it's outdoor), as well as the Starrcade match.
  2. I usually burn a CD once I have about 700mb of wrestling stuff but you guys are welcome to check out what I have currently. My username is gcdrevil.
  3. I checked out a few stores this weekend and found both. If it helps, I tried Best Buy and FYE. Ended up getting the Hogan DVD instead but Confidential did look pretty good.

    Golden Globe Predictions

Good to see Scorsese win. I loved Daniel Day Lewis in Gangs of New York but as a Best Actor I don't think his role was big enough - at least compared to Nicholson's - so I'll let that one slide. Hope Gangs wins Best Pic.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 7

Oh, while I have a moment ... I'd like to publically protest the engagement of Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Something-Or-Other (Wesley). I mean, c'mon, Alexis is a girl's name...
  6. Bulldog / HBK is more depressing than anything. The HBK IC title win over Davey in 92 was my first big let down in wrestling as an 11-year old fan and the fact that the Bulldog never returned the favor still bothers me a little. Both DVDs have potential. Bulldog / Bret is my favorite bout of all time and I'm sure Benoit & Angle / Eddie & Chavo tore the house down at Rebellion.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 7

Graduation Day Part II was indeed held back because, following Columbine, the powers at be didn't think it would be the best idea to show an entire graduating class bringing weapons to school...and the school blowing up part probably didn't help. Anyone check out the premiere of that new political drama show on NBC ("Mr. Something or other" ... the independant senator)? It featured both Travers (of the Council) and old Xander (from the wedding episode) as senators. I saw on MTV News yesterday that Ashanti is going to be in an upcoming episode as a potential love interest for Xander. I got the impression she might be a slayer in training.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 7

I'm convinced that Spike went to get his soul back, not the chip removed. For instance, early in the season he said (in his quasi-crazy state) "He does what he must...for her". All the dialogue he used making the audience think he was getting the chip removed so he could take out Buffy also works for him getting his soul back and becoming more of a man so he would deserve her. Classic Joss swerve.

    Buffy on DVD

I watched the commentary for 'Earshot' which is pretty good. Loved the segments on the Season 3 plotlines and Buffy Speak (on the 3rd disc? the one with 'The Wish' and 'Amends'). Joss & Co. have mentioned that 'Earshot' was held off for about 6 months due to Columbine but I haven't heard the same about 'Graduation Day Part 2' which was also held back a bit.

    Buffy on DVD

If this is the last season, it's not a bad idea. If it's not, I wouldn't mind seeing Seth Green come back and de-lesbianify Alyson.

BOOOOOOOOO, RILEY! He and Wesley can go to hell and die (Willow's mine, Wesley!)

    Buffy on DVD

Just a note on Best Buy in northern Virginia - a friend of mine held off on picking Season 3 up until today since apparently they were running a sale. Well, by the time he showed up they had sold out of every copy. Not only that, but surrounding Best Buys were the same way. No word was given when they would get more in but it didn't sound promising.

    Joe Millionaire

Anyone catch 'Joe Millionaire' last night? Much better than Raw, hilarious, and had some mighty fine looking ladies on there (especially Melissa (?), the curly haired burnette). I wonder if "money grubbing whore" can be turned into a wrestling chant...

    Favorite Star Trek Series

I watched DS9 for a few months when it started (a week before the initial episode of Raw in 93...I remember because the DS9 2hr premier coincided with the "Best of" episode of Prime Time). After a while I just grew tired of it. Voyager never had me. I watched some of the 2hr premier but that was it. Enterprise has potential but I just don't know how much more they can do with broadening the franchise. I watched the original in reruns when I was a kid and then when I moved back to the States when I was 7, NG had just ended its first season. I was hooked pretty early on that.

I'd also have to to with NG. The original was good and had some really solid episodes ("The City on the Edge of Forever", the 2-part "The Menagerie" with footage from the pilot) but overall I'd go with NG. Loved the original cast movies, especially Khan. But Kirk could kick Picard's ass any day.

    DVD releases for 1/7

Oh, now I can't let that one go without saying something. Buffy is vastly underrated. There may be occasional less than great episodes, sure, but that goes for every other show on television. Maybe it's because you haven't watched a whole Buffy show that you don't get it. And what's with the bashing, anyway? I don't go into the martial arts thread and go off on how it's lame how the dialogue and mouth movements don't match.

    Buffy on DVD

'The Prom' is pretty good too as it involves Andrew's brother. Gotta love the end scene with the Sundays' cover of the Stones' "Wild Horses". I like to play that scene out in my head with me as Angel and Alyson Hannigan as Buffy.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 7

The spoiler is correct, I just didn't want to say anything before. "The Wish" is maybe the single best episode of Season 3 (although "Amends" has to be right up there...and it does feature our favorite resident Season 7 villian, the First).

Dude, Signs was piss poor. It was an average movie at best and then that ending made it a shit movie. I've heard complaints about the whole use of water in the film...but hey, did anyone ever knock 'War of the Worlds'? And the people in that story didn't do crap, the aliens just died from Earth germs.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 7

Great show last night. Okay, my thoughts... The Giles / Andrew moment came when they were talking about the raising of the Ubervamp. We already know Andrew knew about that thing in the school basement. No idea how it ties together. There is no way that Giles (whether dead or alive) is the First. I mean, if he was the First, why throw the Scoobies a bone by finding out why the First is all pissy. Okay, Giles and Willow knew by episode 2 or so that there was something REALLY bad coming (that's why she went home early) so maybe he put some sort of protection spell on himself or had the covent protect him (ala the last ep of Season 6 and his magic brawl with Willow). LOVED the dead slayer angle. That was great TV. I didn't like that chick from beginning because all she did was discredit Buffy. The new SiT should be swiftly dealt with by the First and end my pain. I'm getting the feeling that Xander might be killed off...same with Anya (especially since she's gone after this year). And when Faith is mentioned on every other episode, you can pretty much count on something happening... If Buffy sacrifices herself...AGAIN and Joss lives up to his promise of making this the ultimate death season as well as the last - then I could see the story continuing (either on Angel or as a new show) with Faith as the slayer with a pick of the old Scoobies and the new characters (Andrew, Dawn, SiT, etc) to back her up. "Uh...sheilds up! Deflecter sheilds up!" - Andrew ... nerds are cool

    Buffy on DVD

I'd have to say that Season 2 was my personal fave. You start out with the slow building and somewhat uneasy but eventually all good Buffy / Angel love affair, then the fantastic 'Innocense' / 'Surprise' heel turn, and then it's just slowly downhill for Buffy as she loses her pseudo-friend (Jenny Calender), her friend (Kendra), her mom, her home, her school and eventually her love as she's forced to kill Angel even after he's reverted back. Now that's good TV. Season 3 was strong but I don't know if the show can top 2 from an emotional standpoint. The episodes involving the alternate reality were amazing, 'Enemies' had a great swerve, 'Amends' was very touching and like 'Earshot' actually had a deeper meaning behind it, I enjoyed the introduction of Faith and Anya and the Mayor was a great villian.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 7

Anyone pick up Season 3 yet? Boooooooo, lack of TV spots and decent features! And where is the deleted Willow shower scene I was promised? Wait, that was just a dream...

    DVD releases for 1/7

I already picked up Buffy and Signs. Kinda disappointed with the extras on Buffy compared to Season 2 (loved the campy TV spots). Anyone know what Wal-Mart's policy is on ringing up a wrong price? I checked online before I went and they were selling it for about $40. The box itself had no price sticker and after I left I realized they charged almost $50. I went pretty early so maybe whatever sales they were running on the new merchandise hadn't started yet...?

    Gangs of New York

Loved it. I actually don't hate DiCaprio now and Martin, Daniel Day-Lewis, and the film itself deserve Oscars.

    Gangs of New York

Saw it last night. LOVED IT. I actually like DiCaprio now (never thought I would say that), Martin MUST win Best Director, and I wouldn't be surprised if it won Best Picture either. This film and Twin Towers are the best I've seen in quite a while and, as far as the Oscars, I would give Gangs the edge merely because it's a stand-alone film and not part of a trilogy. Daniel Day Lewis carried the piece as far as the acting (with an awesome early stereotypical NY accent with a little bit of Rhea Pearlman from Cheers), the soundtrack was very moving and powerful...it was just a very good film. I'd liken it to Braveheart - only on a much smaller scale.
