  1. Here's the official statement released by Greg Price today. "I am very happy to announce that Bret Hart will be a very special guest -- and indeed, making a rare appearance -- at the NWA Wrestling Legends Fanfest this August in Charlotte. Wrestlemania Card

My mistake. That's what happens when you're up late and stop paying attention. I put Andre in there because ... I wanted to. The main event spot was already taken. Flair was babyface from May 7, 1989 until February of the following year. 87 was a better heel year for him.

Although Owen did get some revenge by pinning Triple H with the Pedigree at Over the Edge. It was a Pedigree onto the Euro title belt but a Pedigree none the less

The major reason, for that timeframe, is that they were both babyface. Vince, as a general rule (though this may have changed since the 80s and 90s), doesn't like babyface vs. babyface because it splits the merchandise sales.

You're thinking of All American. The match was the Headshrinkers vs. the Quebecars on "The Countdown to the Crowning" special prior to KOTR 94.

It was 86 to 96. Superstars and Challenge both began the first weekend of September. The difference between those two shows and their predecessors - Championship Wrestling and All Star Wrestling - is that the WWF took the tapings on tour (the tapings used to be in Allentown / Poughkeepsie / Brantford and were done every 3 weeks) and that the production was at a much higher level, probably thanks to what Vince learned from NBC.

    Orton's RAW promo

Unless your name is Marc Mero, heels don't have popular valets. The reasoning may or may not be there but he had to cut that tie. I was actually hoping he would do it.

    HHH's Raw Promo

He's had better, he's had worse. I didn't mind it. The Terry Shiavo references almost made my jaw drop.

    Shotgun TV

The nightclub episodes only ran 6 weeks. After that, they started taping it at the Raw venues.

    More Possible WWE Returns...

I hope the Sherri thing is true. I'm sure she'd appreciate that kind of pay day.

    London/Chavo match unlikely at WM21

Actually what was said was: He will return to the ring at or very shortly after Mania, is how I read that. So, IMO, it's too soon to completely write off the match, especially since Chavo will continue to be on TV between now and then. All it would really take is one or two appearances during a London Velocity match to give it build.

    Ages of wrestlers

Agreed. That would have made her 23 when she made her Raw debut in 99.

The guys in the tournament were deemed the top 12 ranked guys in the company. Bad News just showed up in January. Warrior didn't have any big wins under his belt at that time, at least not enough to be ranked that high. Hercules' push had already scaled off and JYD was almost in the JTTS category.

    RnR Xpress vs Midnight Xpress

I'm actually planning on going to the show. Should be fun
  16. cawthon777

    Who said it?

Nope, Mr. Perfect on Prime Time when he turned babyface and poured the pitcher of water on Heenan's head while grabbing him by the shirt.
  17. cawthon777

    Who said it?

"You're nothing but a wet weasel!"
  18. cawthon777

    Who said it?

    Heenan
  19. Actually both. Well, Meltzer has said JYD won the first Rumble but I've yet to figure out when that was and he's never provided any concrete info that I've seen. But the results of that night's card also came from the Observer newsletter.
  20. I've heard that JYD won a Rumble prior to that but have no idea as to when / where. Maybe there's just some confusion over who won this particular match. I got the results from both Inside Wrestling and the Observer so it's accurate.
  21. Sounds like it was one of their judo jacket matches.

    2) Savage's turn was gradual over the summer of 1987. After Honky won the IC title, he started bragging about how he was the greatest IC champion of all time. Of course, Savage took exception to that and the fans got behind Savage as a result. The real coming out as a babyface was the September 87 SNME in which Honky shoved Elizabeth and Hogan made the save. 3) Spivey was babyface when Rotundo was still around. After Rotundo left, he had a short run as a heel that went into 1988, IIRC. Didn't really get a push. Basically just beat the jobber babyfaces.

I heard Tully speak about this last August but I forget the specific reason. It may have just been a money issue. Was this the story involving Tully intentionally failing a drug test to get cut? -=Mike That wasn't intentional. He and Arn were ready to jump back to the NWA but after the drug test, the NWA didn't want Tully.

    The Old School questions thread

I heard Tully speak about this last August but I forget the specific reason. It may have just been a money issue. WWF @ Huntsville, AL - Von Braun Civic Center - December 13, 1989 WWF Superstars taping: 12/30/89 Andre the Giant & Haku defeated WWF Tag Team Champions Demolition to win the titles at 4:35 when Andre pinned Ax with an elbow drop following a kick to the face from Haku; Smash was unable to legally enter the ring during the contest as Axe was continuously double-teamed When - early summer 1990. How - they brought in Crush to have an illegal 3-on-2 advantage. Why - because the LOD were coming in and the Harts were the #1 contenders. But the decision to turn them heel obviously had more to do with the LOD. Yes. They were tag team champions in late 91 so they never left. If you're asking why did they leave after they lost the belts to Money Inc and then returned at WrestleMania VIII, I don't think they were officially ever off the roster. It had to do with pay. I think they also wanted to tour Japan but Vince wouldn't let them. Why? Because Von Erich had just showed up and Beefcake obviously couldn't make the show so why not? WWF @ Rochester, NY - War Memorial - November 19, 1990 WWF Superstars taping: 12/15/90 Mr. Perfect (w/ Bobby Heenan) pinned WWF IC Champion Kerry Von Erich with the Perfex Plex to win the title at 6:37 after Ted Dibiase, who had paid off Howard Finkel to be the guest ring announcer for the bout, hit the champion with the title belt as payback for Von Erich humiliating Dibiase the previous week on the Brother Love Show; Von Erich continued to wrestle as champion until the match was televised From my understanding, Vince was paranoid about Bret showing up in WCW with the IC belt, kinda like what Flair did when he came to the WWF with the NWA title. I believe Meltzer said that Bret's contract automatically rolled over at a certain point so he couldn't have left even if he wanted to. I don't recall all the specifics.
  25. Probably because one of the two dates is wrong.
