Good lists so far. One thing I would mention, to go with everything else already said: Dayton, OH - June 14 Raw WWE Raw World Champion Chris Benoit, Edge, & Chris Jericho defeated WWE IC Champion Randy Orton, Ric Flair, & Batista (w/ Triple H) in an elimination match at 34:35; Jericho pinned Batista with the Lionsault at 15:33 after Batista sustained the spear from Edge and diving headbutt from Benoit; Flair pinned Jericho at 22:07 after Orton hit the RKO as Flair was caught in the Walls of Jericho; Orton pinned Edge with a low blow and the RKO at 31:19; Benoit forced Flair to submit to the Crippler Crossface at 32:03; Benoit forced Orton to submit to the Sharpshooter; after the bout, Benoit and Triple H had a staredown, with Benoit in the ring and Triple H on the floor I loved that match and, IIRC, the crowd ate it up as well.

Even if that is the sole reason, which I'm not sure it is, it would have only made the world title look more like crap if we did get that title change. I'm glad we didn't have it. 1999 was a horrible year in terms of strong champions. Even after Hunter won, lost, won, lost it in 99, he really didn't get over as champion until the feud with Cactus.

Booker vs. Jarrett Storm vs. Awesome with Jacques Rougeau as the referee. Bret shows up after the match. ... Some other matches I can't remember. I actually liked WCW from April - August 00.

So is that the only film on the list in limited release?

Superstars stopped airing new matches in March 97. I remember Shotgun having some decent matches. Owen vs. Goldust, etc.

And then injured himself again in May when he was supposed to wrestle Mankind at Cold Day in Hell? I always wondered why he skipped out on two pay-per-views in a row.

Don't let that scare you away. The musical's ending is in there, the film version just taked on an epilogue.

What was the feud going into these matches?

This was Hart's, fresh off the Hart Foundation break up, first big singles feud. He was named the #1 contender to the IC title and it was billed as the excellence of execution versus perfection. The build up was basically the same as the usual early 90s feuds with simple interview segments. Heenan would step down as Perfect's manager just after WM7 and The Coach (I can't remember his real name, not Jonathan Coachman) would take over. Bret also involved himself in a Perfect / Bulldog IC title match, which I believed aired on Prime Time. Bret got Davey Boy DQed for interfering ... the referee was knocked out moments earlier when Coach interfered on behalf of his man. -
I'm laughing my ass off just thinking about seeing Triple H wearing the uber effiminate pink and white Prince Adam costume. On a side note, what's with all the Dolph Lundren movies being redone. First Punisher, now this? What's next, Rocky IV?

I think that was kayfabed. At that point in his life, I don't think Andre could take a bump out of the ring and that was the reason why he was pulled. Andre had wrestled in Japan in December 1990, which I think was his last match ever. I have no idea if he was actually injured in that match or not though. I believe Andre continued to "wrestle" until December 1992. Most of the bouts were in Japan and all were tag team contests, where Andre spent the majority of the match in the corner. I have him down for a battle royal in Long Island in May 1991. I'm inclined to believe he never actually got in the ring, however.

Worst no sell of all time? Easy. The Undertaker & Kane vs. Kronik - Unforgiven 2001 Adams and Clarke sold so well that they found themselves in the unemployment line the next day.

Finally got around to seeing it this afternoon. Really enjoyed the production, how so much went on during the musical numbers that you had to pay attention to appreciate it all. The music was great. The humor was there. Emmy Rossum had my undivided attention from beginning to end. The actor playing the Phantom slowly won me over. I very much enjoyed the additions to the story done for the movie. The new ending (if you've seen it, you know what I mean) gave it a more somber feeling at the end which I loved.

At least it's a better reason to feud when you compare it to "Edge stole Booker T's Japanese shampoo commercial". Snitsky could be Beast Man. Who is a good fit for Orko?

Things that were supposed to happen but didn't

I don't think there would have been a heel turn either but I think that's a minor flaw in the context of the whole article. In terms of it being valid or not, it just seems interesting that everything else in the article actually came true. Bret wins the belt, Perfect as the surprise referee, etc. -
Shawn was only gone for 4 weeks. I really don't think anything further between the two was planned. To have another match where one of them actually lies down for the other wouldn't have been a good idea at that point.

Monday Night Raw 6/3/96 - featured Clarence Mason calling in and stating that even though the lawsuit against Shawn Michaels was thrown out, he plans to sue Gorilla Monsoon for aggravated assault and battery 6/10/96 - featured Jim Cornette announcing that Clarence Mason's lawsuit against Gorilla Monsoon had been dropped in exchange for Camp Cornette being able to choose the referee for the Michaels / Smith rematch at King of the Ring 6/17/96 - included a closing segment in which Jim Cornette announced that the special referee for the King of the Ring world title match would be Mr. Perfect

I got that tape for Christmas 96 (didn't know how rare it would turn out to be) and that incident didn't make the video. From watching the clip on Raw, it looked like it was after the match and not before, though I don't know for sure.

It was footage taken during the tour of Kuwait. Monday Night Raw 5/13/96 - featured footage of the WWF's tour of Kuwait in which Davey Boy Smith attacked Shawn Michaels on the beach, dragging him into the ocean

When they do a title change at a house show, it's usually done to increase house show attendance across the board. People are more likely to go to a show if they think they are going to witness history being made.

I came across these while going through some Washington Post archives and thought I would pass them along for those who are interested. Vince was a guest during the final segment of CNBC's Kudlow & Cramer this evening. The majority of the segment was spent talking about the recent WWE trip to Iraq and Vince's opinions regarding soldier morale and the media's portrayal of what's going on over there. Vince commented that while he expected the WWE superstars to raise the morale of the troops, it was oddly enough the other way around. He then said that the US media is giving the war a very lopsided perspective, where all the emphasis is placed on the negative and the positives - of which there are many - are largely ignored. From speaking with the troops, that apparently was their #1 complaint, that their progress is not being covered as in-depth as it should be. In regards to the Iraqi citizens he came in contact with while overseas, he said they represented the majority of Iraqis in that they appreciate what is being done. He also threw in a little plug by saying they were WWE fans as well. During the final portion, Vince was asked about the recent downturn his company has seen in terms of profit. As expected, he responded by saying that pro wrestling has been around longer than anyone on the show and that it will always have a strong fanbase, through the highs and the lows. Vince was praised for doing the tour and that was the end of the show. I thought it was a decent yet short interview. Though no mention was made of the UPN Smackdown in Iraq special (the trip was mentioned, not the show itself), clips from the show were shown during the interview itself. - Taker saluting the fans from inside the ring - Torrie and Dawn Marie hugging troops in the front row - Foley dressed as Santa

I downloaded the holiday special cartoon a few years back. I love how stretched out everyone's face is. Han Solo looks more like John Kerry than Harrison Ford.

That was a surprisingly good read. Does anyone like Eric Bischoff?
