    Wrestletrivia mania!

Here's some trivia... 1. What was Chris Benoit's initial finisher in WCW? Used in both his 93 and 95 stints. 2. Who did Eddie Guerrero compete against in his first televised WCW match and what were the stipulations? 3. During Bret Hart's first WWF World Title run his large number of title defenses was highly emphasized on TV. Name 3 challengers Bret faced on TV between winning the title and Survivor Series 92. 4. Why did Ted Dibiase interfere in the Perfect / Von Erich match in which Perfect regained the IC title? 5. Who was the first man Ric Flair main evented MSG against? 6. During what match, held at the Baltimore Arena, did Jake Roberts make his WCW debut by interfering in the post-match brawl? 7. Who did the Rockers face in their last TV match as a team? 8. Name two men that have beaten Sting for championship gold in Japan. 9. What major face vs. face match headlined the WWF's May 1994 tour of Japan? 10. Who did Cactus Jack have to face in the fall of 1993 as a "stepping stone" to Big Van Vader?
  2. Held Big Show down? How many times did he beat Brock, clean or otherwise, on TV? Who ended Brock's undefeated streak? Who was Brock facing when the ring collapsed following a superplex? If anything, Show has Brock to thank for how hard he was pushed last year.
  3. I don't remember that. I do recall the match. It was non-title and, had Mysterio won, he would have earned a title shot for the following week. Hard to imagine Mysterio beating Lesnar, hometown or not.

    Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat

I don't think it was until Ken Shamrock showed up in the WWF that "tapping out" ended a match.

    Shawn, of course.

    Wrestletrivia mania!

No one. Davey was in Terre Haute, IN on that date. He didn't lose in England until One Night Only.

    ShopZone sales statistic

Big Daddy Cool? You mean they're dusting off shirts from 1995 and marking them down to $5? *Waits for a Ric Flair shirt from 92 or Piper's "Hot Rod" / "No Fear" shirt*

    Was Goldust nearly WWF Champion?

Sure Goldust was over and was a good worker but that alone doesn't justify a title run. The WWF was on the comeback from the Diesel Era and I think it would have been wrong to cut Shawn's reign short and and put the belt on Dustin instead. No one could out-work Shawn Michaels at the time, thus I think the only viable threat to his title were guys like Vader and Sid who had the immense power and size advantage.

    Raw off-camera

Seemed like they were really into the main event, especially when Benoit and Triple H were in the ring together.

    Dude Love Questions

    1) Second match: WWF @ Worcester, MA - Centrum - July 18, 1997 WWF Tag Team Champions Steve Austin & Dude Love defeated Bret Hart & WWF IC Champion Owen Hart Bret & Owen scored a number of non-title wins in Canada immediately after that match. They were all tag matches until this: WWF @ Bethlehem, PA - August 4, 1997 Raw is War: WWF Tag Team Champion Dude Love pinned Owen Hart after Steve Austin interfered and hit Owen with his own Slammy trophy; Bret Hart, who was doing guest commentary for the bout, interfered on behalf of Owen moments earlier - which prompted Austin to come ringside 2) The 1998 Royal Rumble 5) This is the first for-sure instance of him using it: WWF @ Chicago, IL - Rosemont Horizon - August 23, 1997 Friday Night's Main Event: 8/29/97: WWF Tag Team Champion Dude Love pinned Rockabilly with the Sweet Shin Music and the double arm DDT

    Question about Owen's death

If you notice, the Blue Blazer character was basically mocking the Hogan of the 80s in his promos. If the WWF sent the Blazer in that direction, why not take a shot at Sting while at it?

    Question about Owen's death

Owen was supposed to come down during the promo ... then they would cut to him already in the ring ... he would unhook himself ... walk a step ... fall down. That was the joke.

    The Old School questions thread

    1) It didn't really "break up" but, rather, it slowly broke apart. Sid left in late 95. Tatanka was gone by spring 96. Kid was gone by spring 96, etc. 2) After Sid won the title shot, they had several week's worth of running into each other's matches on Raw to save the other person. Then, in a title match against Bulldog & Owen, HBK accidentally hit the superkick on Sid costing them the match.

April 18th is Chris Benoit day!

On my TV, the place exploded when he came out. Maybe your audio wasn't turned up high enough.

Why Monday for the "flagship" show?

The final Challenge taping took place on July 26, 95 in St. Louis.

    "You can't see me"

Hey, as long as Cena doesn't drop down to a Men on a Mission level of sucktitude, I'm fine.

Why Monday for the "flagship" show?

That bet was part of All American, IIRC. And the match they were referring to was the Headshrinkers vs. Quebecars from the pre-KOTR TV special (Countdown to the Crowning? ... something like that). Just to be clear, WWF Superstars and Wrestling Challenge were always taped in two different venues, usually one day after each other. Each taping ran probably around the 5 hour mark in order to get in the 3-4 weeks of squashes / feature matches, the matches for Prime Time, the matches for home video, and the main events. I think Superstars was the bigger show but I think that had to do with the number of markets it played in. I moved around a lot as a kid and NEVER was in an area where I could get Challenge.

    The Eddy Guerrero Miracle

They had a 2 out of 3 falls match at Monday's house show. It seemed like it came off well and I see that as probably being the best way to protect Bradshaw. They go 10 minutes or less ... Eddie hits the frog splash ... 1-2-3 ... Angle comes out, makes it 2 out of 3 falls ... Eddie takes the CfH immediately after ... 1-2-3 ... Bradshaw busts him open right after the fall ... Eddie sells it like death ... Bradshaw smacks him around for 5-10 minutes ... goes for a superplex ... Eddie knocks him off ... froggie ... 1-2-3

    The Old School questions thread

The "blowoff" was a match on Superstars in which Crush won via count-out after Doink left ringside. That was July 93 and I want to believe it aired before Crush being killed by Yoko (7/12) but I don't know that for sure.

    The Old School questions thread

But both matches took place after Jannetty walked out.

    The Old School questions thread

I'd say fall 99, after he turned on Kane. It just grew from there.

    The Old School questions thread

Pretty sure it was Big Van Vader, though I don't know why Austin was so happy about his surprise beforehand since it got him DQ'ed.

    Then History of Benoit

Benoit is heavyweight champion of the Hundred Acre Wood?

    Summerslam 1992 Question

It was decided right around the time of WrestleMania - so in April or May, I believe. There was also talk of holding it at Landover's Capital Centre (where the Flair title change occured days after the PPV). Davey Boy could have, in theory, ended the show opposite someone else and we still could have had the Bret/HBK match. I guess Vince wanted to give Davey a belt and since he wasn't world title material, a short transitional run with the IC strap would do. Then he could, as intended, put in on Michaels a few weeks later.

SD House show results for 4/4

I would think it's back to Death Valley.
