    Summerslam 1992 Question

Eh? Michaels probably would have won the belt at Summer Slam but I don't know about the ladder part.

    50+ MSG Ads Posted

Over the past 2 days, I've posted over 50 MSG newspaper ads dated 1971 to 1981. Some of the notable cards include Bruno losing the belt to Koloff, Stasiak losing the belt to Bruno, Harley Race defending the NWA title against Tony Garea, Ric Flair's MSG debut, the Patterson / Slaughter Alley Fight, and the 1st ever steel cage match held at the Garden (Bruno / Koloff). A direct link can be found here If anyone can add to this, feel free to drop me a note. I'm especially interested in finding more MSG ads from the Hogan or even Austin era.
  4. 4/2 RAW BRAND HOUSE SHOW RESULTS FROM HILDAGO, TX by Aziz Showery @ 5:05:00 PM on 4/3/2004 WWE RAW Houseshow Results Dodge Arena, Hidalgo, TX 4/02/04 Attendance Notes: The Dodge Arena was a SELL OUT. I believed it sold out the first day tickets went on sell. 6,800 people were there. The crowd was hot all night. Match 1. The Hurricane vs. Val Venis -Decent reaction for both men. Val played face during the match, and decided to act as a heel when he lost. Winner was Hurricane with kick back to the head. Match 2. Matt Hardy vs. A-Train -While Matt was on his way to the ring, A-Train attacked him from behind. An OK bout with Hardy winning. Winner was Matt Hardy with a roll-up. Match 3. Chris Jericho vs. Christian w/ Trish Stratus -My opinion, the best match of the night. Trish comes out first and disses the Hispanic audience saying they need to get deported back to Mexico. Chris Jericho comes out and calls Trish a bitch in Spanish 'puta.' Solid match with Christian getting the win. Winner is Christian with a roll-up and with his hands holding onto the ropes. HUGE pops for Jericho. Match 4. Smackdown Cruiserweight Title: Chavo Guerrero w/ Chavo Sr. vs. Rey Mysterio -Another SOLID bout. Crowd just pops crazy for the cruiserweight action. Winner is Chavo Guerrero when Rey was going for the 619, Chavo Sr. tripped Rey's legs and Chavo got the advantage and the win with his special move(don't know what it's called). After the match Rey 619s both Chavo and Sr. at the same time. Match 5. Rhyno vs. Garrison Cade -Garrison came out during Rey's taunting and attacked him. Garrison acting like a heel told the audience they need to know how to speak English. An OK bout. Winner is Rhyno with a huge gore. Interview: Eric Bischoff comes out and just eleaborates on Chris Benoit finally getting the World Title. Benoit comes out and asks when did Bischoff ever become a Benoit fan. Crossface applied to Bischoff. Match 6. Women's Title Match: Victoria vs. Jazz vs. Molly vs. Lita -Don't know why WWE keeps referring Molly as Molly Holly. I didn't see the match but, the Winner was Victoria! 10 Minute Intermission Match 7. World Tag Titles: Ric Flair/Batista vs. Shawn Michaels/Shelton Benjamin -Hilarious match. At one point HBK goes for a roll-up pulling Flair's trunks down revealing his ass. Flair just goes around the ring and the top turnbuckle with his trunks still pulled down. Flair is in the match MOST of the time which is unreal. HUGE pops for Flair and Michaels. Barley anything for Benjamin. Winners are Flair/Batista when Batista does a spinebuster on Michaels for the 1,2,3. Match 8. Kane vs. Tajiri w/ Bischoff at ringside -Big pop for Kane. We're already past the 2 and a half hour mark and still have the main event to go! Tajiri gets some offense. Winner is Kane with the chokeslam. After the match he chokeslams Bischoff. Main Event. World Title: Chris Benoit vs. HHH -Big pop for HHH of course. Big pop for Benoit as well. LOTS of stalling at the beginning. Awesome match. Winner is Benoit making HHH tap out. After thoughts. Man, what an EVENT. Almost EVERY top guy on the RAW Roster came to a city with a population of 7,000. An almost PPV quality House show. It was literally three hours long, the longest house show I have ever been to. I guess the WWE really rewards its fans when there is a sellout.

4/2 Raw in Hidalgo w/ Cruiser title defense

    Because Kane doesn't like anyone?

4/2 Raw in Hidalgo w/ Cruiser title defense

I didn't read it as Bischoff was in Tajiri's corner, just that he was at ringside for whatever reason. Maybe to see that Tajiri got his for spraying Coach in the face on Monday.

    Who's Your Favorite WWE Wrestler?

Chris Benoit. Not being in an area that televised ECW, the first time I really paid attention to Benoit was when he returned to WCW in the fall of 1995. Blew me away. The no nonsense attitute, the intensity, the presicion offense, everything. He was a monster heel in the body of a cruiserweight. Benoit has been my favorite current-day performer since the day Bret Hart announced his retirement.

    Goldberg Returns!!!

*Card subject to change* is said for a reason. They can advertise anyone within reason and it's OK. I've been checking out the websites of some of the sports arenas the WWE hits. Whenever they advertise a show, they don't have a clue of what matches will take place - they just list all the top names on the respected brand with "card subject to change" at the bottom.

WWE stars hit with sexual harrassment suit

Maybe it's just because I'm still a little drunk, but this is hilarious shit! Since when did Flair start using a cape? Is he Dracula now?

    Non-Fans watched Shelton/HHH with me...

Actually, way to take out Booker T - who had been advertised to face the Rock and was getting a world title shot at WrestleMania just a few weeks later - and put in the Hurricane in his place. No reasoning, no explanation given. Had Booker won, it would have at least given him momentum for Mania.

    WCW/New Japan Collision in Korea

It's not bad for 2 hours. Just a spliced up version of the 2-day event in April 95; it aired on my b-day that August so I decided to watch it. WCW hyped it up pretty big, much as they did with AAA's When Worlds Collide the previous November. 2 Cold / Benoit is good but short. Flair / Inoki was advertised as Flair's first match back from retirement (after Havoc 94) but I think he worked some tapings for WCW just prior to this show. It's an OK match. The Steiners vs. Hase / Sasaki match is fun. Don't remember much from the Norton / Hashimoto bout other than it being pretty stiff. I think this was supposed to feature the return of the Road Warriors as a tag team but for whatever reason Animal was taken out at the last minute. I think they could have picked some better matches from the 2 shows. In retrospect, it seemed as though they were reintroducing Japanese talent to the WCW crowd to prepare the audience for the whole WCW / New Japan rivalry that winter (I seem to remember Sonny Ono being a commentator for the show). It's also interesting that Benoit would be back in WCW just a few weeks after this aired.

    The Old School questions thread

    1. From around WrestleMania V to around WrestleMania VI. He was back in WCW by the time of Capital Combat in May of 90. 2. Came in at January 92's Clash of the Champions and stayed until shortly after Hogan came in during the summer of 94. Coincidence that he left right after Hogan came in? I don't think so. 3. Turning Jake heel. Warrior was not scheduled to leave after Summer Slam, he still had matches booked against the Undertaker. But he just took off. Maybe it would have led to Warrior vs. Jake, who knows. 4. He didn't, really. Vince started referring to him as Stone Cold Steve Austin shortly before WrestleMania 12 with no fanfare.

Media post: Mr. Perfect Vs. Shawn Michaels from

Thanks for posting those. That was actually the first Summer Slam I saw on PPV. A few months earlier, I saw Perfect and HBK tear the house down in a 20-minute draw at my very first house show so I was psyched about this match. Since the title had always changed at Summer Slam, I was sure Perfect would be walking out with the belt. I was pretty pissed about the cop-out finish.

    Chris Benoit DVD !!!!!!!!

That would be SuperBrawl III. The match went 19:59 before Scorpio blocked Benoit's dragon suplex to get the win, one second before the time limit. I think PWI ranked it as one of the top matches of the year, even though it was the end of Benoit's singles push at that point in his WCW career. Not even knowing a Benoit DVD was in the works until right now, I've spent the past 2 days putting together a Benoit compilation. Some things that I'm missing as well as some others that must eventually end up on DVD: - footage of the Triple Threat ... I don't need matches, per say, but I'd mark out for at least highlights of Benoit and Malenko as a tag team - any of the Eddie / Benoit matches from their seemingly endless series on Nitro ... Even if it's a 10-minute throw away, I'll take it - Benoit / Malenko from Hog Wild 96 ... stole the show - Benoit / Sullivan from Bash 96 - Benoit / Malenko vs. Raven / Saturn from Stampede 99 - Benoit / Bret from Kansas City - footage from the Radicalz first night in a WWE ring and Triple H / Benoit (if only to foreshadow WrestleMania XX four years later) - any of the Benoit / Jericho IC title matches in 2000 - Benoit going over Rock in early 2000 (think it happened twice on TV before Rock won the title at Backlash) - Benoit / Jericho vs. Austin / Triple H - Benoit / Angle vs. Edge / Rey from No Mercy - Benoit vs. Angle from the Rumble - not sure if I want Benoit / Brock from Smackdown ... yes, it was a great match and I never got to see it in full (my local UPN crapped out of me and I had a black screen for the last 10 minutes of the show) but Brock did win and there was no resolution to the feud - WrestleMania XX and the post match celebration with his family in the ring

    The Old School questions thread

Razor came ringside during Flair / Savage and beat on Savage's injured knee - resulting in Flair winning the belt. Earlier in the evening, Savage and Razor had a confrontation during an interview Okerlund had with Savage. After the match, Razor continued to beat on Savage and embarrass him. No one came to make the save but after Razor left ringside, Warrior came out and carried Savage backstage.

    How much things have changed...

1999 sucked in the WWF. I watched but not nearly as often as I once did. Owen's death turned me off even more. There was no long-term planning, everything was week-by-week. One week, this guy is the champ ... the other week this guy is ... one week this guy is a face ... the next week he turns heel for little to no reason. Toward the end of the year, I was much more into WCW ... oddly enough for the same reason I hated the WWF earlier in the year - it was being run by Russo. And while we can all complain night and day over some of his decisions, he did a lot to elevate Bret, Benoit, Kidman, etc during those final months.

    Weird foreign objects...

My all-time favorite, even though it made me livid at the time, was Juvi using a bottle of tequilla to knock out and pin Jushin Liger on Nitro in 99. Runner up goes to a plush pig, loaded with a brick, used by the New Age Outlaws in 98.
