Must have the Vader stuff. I already have Havoc 93 but the Saturday Night matches from March / April I want. And if they add some of the vignettes from that period, even better. I remember one right off the top of my head that was fantastic. After returning, Cactus is walking through an alley (which had a bunch of Smashing Pumpkins flyers in the background, IIRC) and speaks to the camera, saying people had come up to him recently asking questions ... "Cactus Jack, that wasn't really your family on TV was it?" "No, it wasn't." "Cactus Jack, did you really expect anyone to fall for you having amnesia?" "No, I didn't. But there were two people out there that fell for it, hook, line, and sinker - Big Van Vader and Harley Race!" He basically killed the entire horrible amnesia angle then and there, claiming it was simply a work on his part to trick Vader and Race. Great stuff.

The Kliq was simply Shawn's name for his fans. The Clique was the backstage group.

I wouldn't be against it. I thought it was rediculous that they almost gave away Foley's in-ring return on Raw with absolutely no buildup when, if well hyped, it could bring in a higher buyrate to any PPV - especially WrestleMania.

Much appreciated. I just added 5 new photo galleries earlier today, all from 83-89.

Nope. Billy was out for a bit and Bart was jobbed out to bigger names. I believe it was the woman that played Billy's wife that later worked for Byte This (no clue as to what her name was). This was several years ago (98-99, maybe) and I remember her mentioning that angle once while on the air.

I've seen it so many times, I just might be able to quote it. "...with a tear in my eye, this is the greatest moment of my life. When you walk around this world and say that you're #1, the only way you get to stay #1 is to BE #1. And this ... is the only belt in the wrestling world that makes you #1 - when you are the King of the WWF ... you rule the world!" Flair, Rumble 92 paraphrased: "I'm bi a lot of things, lingual isn't one of them. ...Wait, did I just say that?" Triple H, KOTR 98 "Two ugly people staring at each other. That's fun." Bobby Heenan on Bret/Piper, WrestleMania VIII

I would die laughing if they brought Jungle Jim Steele back and let him keep the Thesz Press. That move is about as weak as the Worm in regards to finishers.
-
If you count the 2000 version, they just drifted apart. Even though Triple H was wearing the colors from time to time, he was better utlized as a singles wrestler and didn't need DX around. X-Pac & Road Dogg were tagging but then they started feuding in August, with Road Dogg turning heel. I guess you could refer to that as the final nail in the coffin.
-
Well when the only people that saw it were in the arena - I don't think it counts for much. You can add Muraco, Race, Santana, and Savage to that list.

It was happening pretty often at the time. -
Triple H & Chyna came ringside during HBK's match with Mankind on Raw a few weeks prior (during the match is when Rude made his return to the WWF). The following week (8/18/97 in Atlantic City) is when the tag match took place - which ended when HBK twice hit Taker over the head with a steel chair, busting him open. During the match, the commentators made a point of mentioning that HBK and Triple H didn't really want to be tagging together (Shawn was still kinda face at the time) ... that wasn't necessarily the case as the audience later found out. A few weeks later was IYH: Ground Zero and by that time Triple H's feud with Mankind had died out so he just hung around Shawn and acted as backup.

IMO, the best KOTR winner should go hand-in-hand with the best KOTR tournament. After all, which means more - to go through three grueling matches in one night, where the next match is more punishing than the last, or to basically be handed the tournament after getting easy victories over random lower mid-card talent. So the answer is Bret Hart. He made the KOTR in 93 and each year after that the tournament lost just a little more prestigue. Runner up is Owen. Mabel - wrestled twice, got an interference pin over Taker and was handed a win over the exhausted newcomer Savio Vega Austin - wrestled twice and walked all over an injured Jake Roberts in the final Triple H - wrestled twice, the latter of which was actually entertaining even though you could see the outcome coming weeks before the PPV took place Shamrock - wrestled twice, the latter of which made for a very solid and entertaining blowoff-esque match with then-IC champ the Rock Gunn - wrestled three times, beating Shamrock, Kane, and X-Pac ... and still couldn't get himself over without the Road Dogg Angle - though the tournament was poorly booked and the talent featured could have been considerably better, Angle winning immediately boosted him into the world title picture Edge - does anyone clearly remember this? Bueller? Though it got people to pay attention to Edge as a singles wrestler, it didn't do jack for his career (aside from the fact Christian got to carry around the trophy for a few months) Brock - I agree with the winner but I generally loathe the 4-man tourneys ... the finals against RVD could have made for a great series of rematches but we just got that one on PPV, never saw it myself
-
Yeah, okay, some crap there. But the vast majority is very watchable.

According to my info (which is spread pretty thin from Jan 84), Backlund was out for about 2 weeks just prior to the MSG card. If there was an injury, I bet it was kayfabed. The only reason Sheik got the title in the first place was so Hogan could win the title the following month.
