How is this even an issue? He was buried in 96. All it took for him to get out was a thunderbolt. ...Forgot, Austin buried him too. He was back on TV after that well before the Rumble. Way to sell.

Probably not. On a personal note, Bret vs. Austin at MSG has to be one of my all time favorite matches. Not as historically significant as their WrestleMania match but definately one hell of a fight.

We were obviously watching different shows. That crowd was super hot. You're honestly saying that Survivor Series 99 and 2000 were better than this? ...With Triple H being dropped in the car by Austin?

The only problems I had with it - and they were minor - was Hardcore Holly being DQ'ed before the match even began and Shane not blading in the ambulance match. His beatdown was nothing compared to the blood HBK and Vince shed. Yay - Brock tapping to the Crossface - Cena wins the opening match - Molly, who got a decent match out of Lita, wins - Goldberg destroys all of Evolution - Orton is the sole survivor of a very solid match with a ton of heat Nay - the Ambulance match and the cameras going out backstage (when will they learn that any match that goes backstage will lose heat with the crowd?) - Shane not being decapitated - Tajiri / Knoble gets bumped to Heat so they can do a lame segment with the local good guy ... although he did sustain a RKO ... that was funny

They teamed off and on from August to December. It was 5 years ago today that Hawk fell off the Titan Tron and shortly after that, though they continued to team off TV, Animal and Droz more or less split up. As a result, their matches usually resulted in the two brawling which led to their losses around the house show curcuit.

Yeah, it does. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find much in the way of details - just a few days ago I found out Thesz eliminated O'Conner to win the first battle royal.

The vast majority of WCW's PPVs were released commercially all the way up to ... I think Fall Brawl 2000. In 97, it was switched over to Warner Brothers. From 97, the only shows I don't have are Souled Out and Fall Brawl and that's because for whatever reason they weren't commercially released (I taped Road Wild off TV). The same holds true for Souled Out 98, Spring Stampede 98 (which I have taped off TV), and SuperBrawl IV (Flair/Vader Thunderdome; also taped off TV). No clue why they weren't released. Maybe someone forgot about them...

When you're as popular as Eddie is becoming, losing a PPV match or title match to a lesser wrestler is usually a sign of better things to come.

I love Survivor Series 89. *Pre-taped comments before the show* "I'm thankful for having the most ravishing body in the WWF *smooch*" - Rick Rude "I'm thankful that I'm not Ricky Rude *smooch*" - Roddy Piper I picked up Battlebowl 93 several years back on eBay. That was the first I had seen it. Some good buildup to Flair / Vader and Austin / Rhodes. Had Fall Brawl 97 ever been commercially released, I would have bought it long long ago. I was pretty hyped for that show.

1. Mostly due to low pay and the WWF not letting them work New Japan dates might have figured into it as well. Vince and Scotty weren't too fond of one another at the time, though I don't recall the reasons. 2. You got me. I always wondered that myself. 3. I'm sure it had something to do with Dusty Rhodes since the two are related. 4. ...Yes. Flair's being fired overshadowed the entire card and the crowd showed their displeasure throughout the evening my chanting "We want Flair!" Though I've only seen it once years ago, the match quality is poor to the point where the only passable contests are Sting / Koloff and Luger / Windham. 5. Maybe they weren't that pleased with the first outing. 6. I personally haven't seen enough of them to make an informed decision. 7. The charges were dropped. The girl made it up and jokingly said it to her jealous boyfriend, upset that she spent too much time at the Mid-South Coliseum watching matches. The boyfriend went to the cops and everything else came from that. Of course, that info comes via PWI so there might be a bit more to it than that. Lawler was taken off TV probably because Vince didn't need any more bad publicity at the time.

Yeah, I have it. The match was taped on 1/3/87. They were having quite a few bunkhouse battle royals at the time - but that's the only one I know of that ended up on tape.

Any WCW show from 92-93. Looking back, I'm one of the few people that was watching at the time but it was all quality until Hogan showed up. Despite the Ice Trains, Charlie Norris, Shockmasters, and Equilizers - there were some top quality matches like Davey Boy / Regal, Cactus / Vader, Vader / Sting (pick one), Vader / Flair, anything with the Hollywood Blondes, and Scorpio & Bagwell (yes, Bagwell sucks but it was hilarious watching him trying to dance alongside Scorpio). Horsemen, early Harlem Heat, Benoit, Rude ... I can go on and on.

1. Well, HBK was the logical top contender to get the IC title shot at Summer Slam. However, since the PPV was set for Wembley and the match between Bret and Davey was made - you could look at Martel vs. HBK as an unofficial #1 contenders match. It initially came about due to Michaels coming ringside during a match between Martel and Bret, as Bret was caught in the Boston Crab, and pounding away at the Hitman - thus getting Martel DQ'ed (Michaels wanted Bret to keep the belt so he could win it from him). All the other stuff with Sherri eventually came out of that incident. 5. The KOTR started in 1985. It was an annual event, held in Foxboro, MA and Providence, RI, with Don Muraco (85), Harley Race (86), Randy Savage (87), Ted Dibiase (88), Tito Santana (89), and Bret Hart (91) coming out with the victories. Race was the only one that actually used it as a gimmick - which later went to Haku, Duggan, and Savage. The King's Crown was otherwise unrelated to the KOTR event. The 1991 event was taped by a fan in attendance. Might be able to find it on a tape trading site.
