    Vader in the WWF

Just a little more info on the Vader / Shamrock situation... WWF @ Muncie, IN - September 9, 1997 Raw is War taping: WWF IC Championship Tournament Quarter Finals: Ken Shamrock pinned Farooq at 2:42 with a belly to belly suplex; during the contest, Shamrock began bleeding from the mouth following a spinebuster; after the match, the Legion of Doom made the save for Shamrock against the Nation FMW @ Kawasaki, Japan - Kawasaki Stadium - September 28, 1997 Ken Shamrock (WWF) fought Vader (WWF) to a no contest at 7:17 in an Ultimate Rules Match In Your House "Badd Blood" - St. Louis, MO - Kiel Center - October 5, 1997 Rocky Miavia, D-Lo Brown, & Kama defeated the Legion of Doom in a handicap match at 12:19 when Miavia pinned Road Warrior Hawk with the Rock Bottom following a kick to the back of the head by Kama after Farooq's appearance at ringside prevented the Doomsday Device; Ken Shamrock was to have teamed with the LOD but was put on the shelf following bouts with Farooq (9/9) and Vader (9/28)

    Watchin KOTR 95

Maybe. Some of the IYHs from 1995 were pretty awful, too. You do realize there wasn't anything on KOTR 95 over **. You do realize that IYH 4 didn't have anything over ** as well, featuring such dismal outings as Jannetty-Goldust, Yokozuna-Mabel, the uninspired Ramon-Douglas, and, in one of the worst main events you'll ever see, Diesel vs. the British Bulldog! 20 minutes of bad leg holds! I stand by my original statement. Try not to sound condescening next time. Well IN YOUR HOUSE was treated as an afterthought PPV at the time - a 2-hour SNME without commercials. KOTR, on the other hand, was generally regarded as one of the biggest shows of the year and - with a 3-hour running time and a $30 bill - I'd give the nod to the June show being the worst performance of the year. At least IYH had matches that, on paper, looked good.

    The Old School questions thread

They traded the TV title during the spring. I've seen some of their stuff - most notably when Austin regained the title via a belt shot to the head on WCW Worldwide. As with most of the things WCW was putting on at the time, it blew the WWF away in terms of quality ... but that's not saying much.

    The Old School questions thread

His no compete clause meant he couldn't sign with the WWF for whatever period of time after jumping from WCW but that didn't mean he couldn't be on WWF TV (WrestleMania VIII). Luger in the WBF was just a way to keep him in the spotlight UNTIL he could step into the ring. When Luger came in, the trial was more than 2 years away. Why did they sign him? Because he was one of WCW's top stars and the WWF figured they could get some use out of him. The fact that he had a ripped bod and was probably on something (along with just about everyone else on the roster) probably wasn't that big of a deal.

    Jake/Rude, Judgment Day 98, Show's Dad Dies

Actually, didn't (in storyline terms) the Big Show's dad not die until weeks/months later? I mean, yeah the security guard did yell him about it, but that was just Bossman putting the security guard up to it I think (if I remember correctly, of course, I'm not going back to the tapes to watch Russo-era and slightly past Russo-era Smackdowns for more info on it). Jason I'm working off show reports from the area for the most part so it's concievable that info was left out. It had to have been around that same time because by Survivor Series they had already done the incident at the cemetary.

World Title Vacated, San Juan, MSG Battle Royal

I hate to be nitpicky again, but didn't Backlund still defend the title around the country during the supposed "held up" period? So I think the title was really only disputed in New York so the WWF could make money around the horn with Backlund. Of course, I could be wrong. Jason No, you're right. It was done in order to guarentee a good turn out at the following month's show when the rematch was held.

    Austin/Hart 2?

How would this be Austin / Hart 2? If you're referring to the Bret midget, that was with HBK. And there have been many situations like this since - with Edge & Christian making fun of midget Dudleyz and the Rock making fun of midget Booker T.

I don't have Ottman working under any other name during that time. He came in as Tugboat Thomas in the fall of that year. Lawler made fun of some children's hospital in Toronto that Piper was promoting. ...Or something to that effect.

Muraco could certainly go at the time. Unfortunately, and I believe mostly due to steroids, he was washed up by the mid to late 80s.

    The Old School questions thread

It was a stupid reference to Montreal. A lot of people at the time thought that Vince Russo had something to do with Bret getting screwed (whether he did or not, I don't know) and as a result Russo took that idea and put it in the ring - only this time he helps Bret out as a way to repay him for Survivor Series. The next night on Nitro, Bret was pissed at Russo and demanded a rematch with Goldberg ... in which he turned heel when Nash, Hall, and Jarrett interfered - thus forming the nWo Silver team.

Just saw Flair/Sting, Clash of the Champions 1

    Now that's funny.
  25. What makes it special is that it was the perfect climax to the series of matches they had dating back to the summer of 1986. I certainly haven't seen all the matches that aired regionally from Boston, Phili, etc but I've heard that the finishes and signiture spots used in those matches - with Savage going over - were all used in the WrestleMania contest. I guess a good comparison would be TLC 2's duplication of all the spots used in the previous ladder matches as well as the initial TLC ... but with a bit more added on.
