I think they had a match prior to that one in which the Hardcore title was on the line and RVD won.

If you are talking about the fingerpoke of doom, that was 99. I'm talking 98 where he beat Savage. Hogan was world champ for over a year ... lost it for 5 days to Luger ... then Sting FINALLY beats him right when the wrestling world was about to revolt Hogan's boring and long-ass reign. Then 4 months later he's champion again. That Nitro was the day WCW slowly began its downfall.
-
They will continue to drop until the WWE gets a freaking clue and adds some 'entertainment' to whatever it is they air each Monday and Thursday night. For a while now, Raw has reminded me of Nitro in its dying days - but even Nitro had segments I wouldn't miss (the cruiserweights for one). While the drawing power was minimal during the last few months of WCW's existance, at least the company seemed to have some direction to it. Raw doesn't even have that. Okay, so Goldberg is the new champion - but who is there to challenge and to have credibility as a challenger? The only one is Kane. If they put the belt back on Triple H (and I fear they might), it will be a lethal blow just like when Hogan got the WCW strap back in 98. It's odd that the women's match got the highest rating last night because it was immediately after that segment that I turned off my TV and went to bed. And I almost never miss Raw / Smackdown - even when they are shit. That backstage segment with Austin, Jericho, and Christian disgusted me - not for the wrestlers themselves but because I could hear the director giving orders. C'mon, guys. What is this, the WCW crew????

I'm going for the $204 seats but I have no earthly idea where they're located.

I had the option of going to the Smackdown house show last weekend or going to No Mercy in Baltimore. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I made the right decision with the house show. Unless it's a MAJOR PPV (Mania, Rumble, SSlam, or SSeries), I would probably always pick a house show over it. Did you happen to take any pics?

Ok for the last time Shane-O-Mac defenders...
cawthon777 replied to Damaramu's topic in The WWE Folder
"Ruined" might be a tad much. -
Or Vince McMahon, for that matter. I agree with most everyone's points regarding Shane working with talent, but at least he's not beating the top guy on the roster 1-2-3 or walking out of the ring with the world title.

Okay, while I agree that it is the wrestlers themsleves who should always be put over - I have to give Shane credit where credit is due. As a non-wrestler, he's put his well being on the line on multiple ocassions and has spent the past 15 years+ working behind the scenes as a referee, stage hand, etc. It's not like he was born one day and on TV the next. He worked his way up the ladder just like all the wrestlers have done. While I agree on many of your points that he has been misused (or overused), I think he has a very strong stage presence and that should be taken advantage of. There's a thread over on Kayfabe Memories, under the WWF 83-89 section, regarding Shane & Stephanie and Playboy Buddy Rose - who is a regular on the board - can't say enough good things about Shane, stating he was always very respectful to the wrestlers and was constantly asking their advice and trying to improve himself and his understanding of the biz. -
Oh oh, I know how to make it worse! Somehow involve Rick Steiner, Mae Young, and a tube of KY. Yeah, that's right Gerwitz, I dare you!

I don't believe the match was televised on the MSG Network with the rest of the card; I think perhaps the Hogan / Andre bout from Shea Stadium the previous month was aired instead.

Yeah, the last I'm aware he was in WCW was March 92. There's some handheld footage of he and Cactus wrestling during a WCW tour of California right after SuperBrawl.

I'm right there with you. I thought Shamrock was quality, aside from the screaming and beating his chest when he was in "the zone" ©.

The last one was the first I saw as it aired; I got into the WWF earlier that year. Bulldog / Michaels pissed me off royally as I was a big Davey Boy fan - he and Bret were my two faves.
-
Um...where exactly did you read that?
-
Just a one-spot, much like the Brock / Triple H match we ALMOST got at MSG about 6 months ago. I have photographs from this show on my site.

There's currently a discussion on KM regarding the tournament, or should I say series of tournaments, and I was wondering if anyone could add to it. As far as I know, and I'm sure there were more, there was a tournament held at Maple Leaf Gardens on 3/15/87 won by the Killer Bees and a similar event held in Buffalo, NY that July with Bravo & Valentine winning. As a result of their wins, both teams earned tag title shots against the Hart Foundation immediately after their victory. There is talk of another tournament being held at the Meadowlands in early 87 and I was wondering if anyone had more info on that card or any other Tunney Tournaments. Thanks in advance

Quick question about WWF PPV theme songs?

#2 was Backlash 01. You might be right about #1. I'll have to think about that one for a while. -
What was this, a house show or something? Yep.

It's misspelled.

Hey guys, I don't have much in the way of match finishes for SNME matches so if you get the chance, drop me an e-mail at [email protected] and I'd be happy to credit you for the info.
