Hmm ... as with every Smackdown!, there is plenty of crap to water down the quality. Can't the WWE make a new show just for Rikishi? Bring back Jakked and make it the Rikishi Show just so I can be assured I won't accidentally see him on Smackdown!

In 2003, they scheduled themselves for South Korea, South Africa, England, Scotland, Ireland, Thailand, Japan, and Australia. I'd say that's worldwide.

If tickets are cheap, I'll go to No Mercy. I plan on being in that area for the weekend anyway. I heard Armageddon will be in Orlando. Maybe that's just a rumor at this point.

I'm assuming he was fired alongside Duggan. The only reason Duggan was brought back was because of his performance against Ted Dibiase at the Paul Boesch retirement show in August of 87. I believe the Iron Sheik came back for about 2 weeks in mid 1988. As far as the Flying Nuns, I think they only had one match - that being their debut against the Godwinns on the 1st episode of Shotgun.

I'm very picky when it comes to buying WWE DVDs considering the prices they run. This was very much worth what I paid - about 6 hours total, lots of full matches included as extras. I wasn't a huge fan of that 98-99 era - save the summer of 98 - but taking another look changed my mind on how good it was (especially compared to today).

The Gangstas in Paradise were in fact the two fat Samoans that attempted to turn Fatu to the dark side. Thunder and Lightning were pretty big on the indy circuit just prior to going to WCW in late 93. I remember reading about them in PWI.

I have the RF shoot with HBK and, although he does discuss the match, he doesn't say anything derogatory towards Bret or mention that he was the one behind the title change being nullified. He just mentions what I already said about not wanting to redo the match too soon. My understanding of the situation is that one of the reasons the title change occured was because Jim Neidhart's contract was about to end - not that he was on the verge of termination. So when he decided to stay with the company, it was just one more reason not to air the match. I'm fairly certain they used to get along. Back in 89, the Rockers and Hart Foundation had a series of matches on the house show circuit and in 92 Bret fought Shawn almost every other day from WrestleMania to Summer Slam. There was some really good chemistry there that I don't think could have existed had the two men been legitly pissed by one another. I would compare it to the modern day version of Flair / Steamboat. I think the hostility (and again I'm referencing HBK's shoot so take it for what it's worth) began following WrestleMania XII. Shawn felt he had finally become Bret's equal but wasn't being treated as such. Add that in with the worked shoot comments made by Bret in his Calgary Sun column and on televised WWF interviews following Mania. I'd like to hear Bret's side of the story from his RF video. Since Shawn seemed to draw a temporary blank for almost every question asked, I'd be more likely to buy into Bret's perspective.

Bret had nothing to do with the titles being returned to the Hart Foundation or the Rockers' win never being officially recognized. The match wasn't televised because of the whole rope fiasco. That I think everyone knows. However, it was at a Main Event taping - so there were enough wrestling journalists in attendance to spill the beans of the title change to the rest of the world. McMahon had every intention to redo the match at another taping but since every wrestling mag already spoiled the title change in Ft. Wayne, he felt that if he had to hold off for a while before scheduling the rematch. The thinking there was that if the Rockers regained the titles too quickly, the fans wouldn't care as much because they could see it coming a mile away. By the time it became old news, the LOD were the focal point of the tag division and the Rockers were on the long road to breaking up.

Just one more example why I think house shows > TV shows.

While watching WrestleMania VII, I believe Gorilla Monsoon said that this was the largest PPV audience in the history of pay-per-view. Is there any legitimacy to that claim, even if they aired it for free to the armed forces overseas (which I'm pretty sure they did)?

Maven is from Chalottesville, VA. He had the hometown reaction when he was in Southwestern VA in April - I don't know about last night in Portland. As someone who regularly reads numerous different reports for house show results, you'd be surprised how different two recaps can be lol

I watched it live. Kinda wish I had a working VCR at time so I could have recorded it. I remember thinking "Uh ... well I know that guy - that's 2 Cold Scorpio ... and I know Chris Benoit ... I've heard of this Konnan guy ... well this isn't bad at all." Haven't seen the show since. Only ordered it because it was cheaper than the regular PPVs ($20) and WCW plugged it every chance they got. What did everyone think of Collision in Korea? I remember thinking the Benoit / Scorpio match was quality.

WWF @ Alexandria Bay, NY - July 26, 1993 Monday Night Raw taping I don't have any info from Watertown but could this have been the same Raw taping?
-
I bought my pair for $6 in 93. I suppose I could always take a black marker to it and sign it from Bret...

I have three promotional posters for house shows from San Jose. 1/93 TV taping (Bret vs. Bigelow), 10/93 (Taker vs. Yoko), and 5/94 (Bret vs. Owen). I'd like to add to that collection eventually but those things aren't easy to come across.

The show was pretty good, save the main event. I have a feeling that if Austin weren't around the ratings would be FAR lower. Right now he seems to be the glue holding everything together.

92 is probably my all time favorite - almost simply for Flair's look as Piper comes to the ring - but 90 pulls a close second. What amazes me more than anything is the amount of talent in the ring - all the names that were already legendary along with many more that would become so in the coming years. In 1990, you had Hogan, Savage, Andre, Dibiase, Jake the Snake, Warrior, Dusty, and Piper but there was also Bret, Shawn, Perfect, and Rude.

Who can't write a review or rate matches? A homeless person who has never watched wrestling in his life could do the same job, only sound far less elitist while doing it. Sorry, I don't need to read other people's opinions on a show in order to form my own. How did this guy become a name anyway?

tank, According to my research, the jobber was Don Callis aka the Jackyl. Does that seem possible?

Good job. Your next mission is to find out the password for WrestleMania tix. lol

The WWF brought back the original due for the battle royal?

I posted this same thing on Wrestling Classics with no reply ... so I thought I'd try here. Is there a website or can someone help me find what extras were added to WWE DVDs beginning with, what I believe was the first DVD release, WrestleMania XV? Specifically, I'm looking for matches rather than promos, commentaries, interviews, etc. I'd be especially interested in matches that were added to PPV DVDs - both from Heat and matches that were used to build-up the PPV. I have the more obvious ones - Best of Raw Vol. 1 & 2, Hogan, Rey, and Hardcore - but little else. Anything would be appreciated.

Damnit! Only 2 years after I transfer from Arizona State and Summer Slam comes to town? *Takes a deep breath* I'm going to WrestleMania. I don't care about Summer Slam. Btw, where did you get that info from?
